I am one of the locals, but I still love visiting Pier 39 every so often. I avoid all those tourist type shops, and go to the other shops that sell more unique items. There is so much to do at the pier that it would take a while for you to get bored. There are shops, restaurants, arcades, a carousel, and also an aquarium type exhibit.

Malibu Grand Prix is fun for all ages. There is a bunch of stuff to do there--mini golf, racing, and also a fun arcade. Bring the kids and spend the day there--they also have a convenient snack bar. My favorite part was probably the arcade. I wasn't such a fan of the mini golf.

The Yerba Buena Bowling Center is a fun place to go with friends. It's very conveniently located near downtown SF, right across from the ice rink, and within walking distance of the Metreon, and Union Square. The prices are reasonable and if you get hungry you can grab a bite to eat. There's also a parking garage right across the street.

Tutti Frutti is one of those great stores where you can find something for just about everyone in your family, and your friends too. They have a lot of unique toys and trinkets which I haven't seen sold anywhere else. I like their plush toys and book section. They also sometimes have some sale items.

I love Boudin Bakery, and every time I go, I have to get their thin sourdough baguettes. In my opinion, they make the best sourdough bread! I'm also a fan of their "pizza" bread and sourdough bread...
I love Boudin Bakery, and every time I go, I have to get their thin sourdough baguettes. In my opinion, they make the best sourdough bread! I'm also a fan of their "pizza" bread and sourdough bread bowls with clam chowder. It's a great place to get a quick and satisfying lunch.

I went to Joy's hair salon once and I was satisfied with my hair cut. I brought in a picture of the style I wanted, but the end result wasn't exactly what I wanted. It still looked ok though. Sometimes it gets pretty crowded, and parking is hard in Chinatown.

The stylist does take a long time cutting and styling your hair, but in the end, I think it's worth it. I brought in a picture of the hairstyle I wanted and the end result was pretty accurate. I actually liked that my hair was washed a second time--otherwise I'd be shedding hair clippings everywhere.

If I need to find a novel for a class, I usually check here because the prices are way cheaper than what I would find in a school book store. They have a huge selection of books, and it's fun to look through all the sections.
