The most overrated Indian place in the city. People line up and endure long waits for the honor of getting squished into the always packed Indian Oven. It's possible that since there really isn't much good Indian food around, this place gets graded on a curve. Maybe that's the appeal? The way I've heard people gush about the breads, lassis, various dishes, you'd think there would be something noticeably good about the food here, but nothing I've ever had has been better than mediocre. You'd think every once in a while there'd be a fluke really good dish, but that hasn't happened yet, and won't happen anytime soon since there are at least 5 other Indian joints I know of that are much cheaper, never crowded, and serve much better food. Oh how the subjective nature of taste puzzles me…

So, I don't eat at Mikky Dees or Burger King or any bs nasty fastfood like that, so I guess I have no idea just how crappy it all must be if in comparison people really love In-N-Out burger. This place is also crappy. I like burgers. I like fries. Not when they're this soggy and grease soaked. The shakes are ok. But when isn't a shake at least ok? Not worthy cult status by any means. Granted I don't know all the secret codes, but even if I did go "animal style" or whatever it is, I can't imagine that I wouldn't be sitting there like I always do, staring at this pitiful looking fast food thinking, is it just me? Am I missing the point somehow by comparing the burgers and fires here to actual good burger and fries, or is it against the rules to consider anything beyond the worst, most disgusting fast food?
One saving grace is that they'll make you a burger without the burger (a.k.a.: grilled cheese). And since the meat is practically lost in the soggy bun and cheese anyways, you almost don't taste the difference (all the grease is still there, so it tastes the same) and it's so cheap, that once your friends are done eating, you'll still have enough money to go get real food somewhere else afterwards.

TOP FAVS: Braised short ribs, Tomato salad, Cheese fondue, Turkey lettuce cups, Crabcakes, Grilled Eggplant, Duck confit, Donuts w/ Hot Choc, Dulce de leche sundae, Banana Ice Crm
OK: Squash, Mac & Cheese more like a chs sandwich, Ahi Tacos (can't really taste the ahi), Polenta Fries (interesting but similar to Chs Mac)
SKIP: Mussels (nothing special), Moroccan Cigars (way too greasy)
Our server recommended 3 dishes/person - we found that to be too much food for a large group of 11 people.

Kitaro is the older sister to Kiki in the Sunset, and I think it's not as good as it used to be. Like Kiki, this restaurant does sushi for the budget-minded set. While their food is not the greatest I've had by far, they do have some nice tasting sushi rolls with interesting names. Bento boxes are a good deal too.

This is a great place to go any time for a decent burger and a beer. Try the locally brewed beer - its really good. The fries are alo great. They have a great selection of salads but I recommend the burger if you're going. Unless its a game night you don't neede a reservation. Offers a great atmosphere and decor. The waitstaff are very helpful and friendly.

Part of being in a relationship is compromise, sometimes you eat at a place you don't like: my boyfriend likes this place, I do not. I won't compromise on this place. Their savory buckwheat Champignon/mushroom crepe was so horrible that I sent it back and got one just as bad- their mushrooms tasted like they came out of a can. Sorry, baby, not going back.

Julie's Supper Club is a fun restaurant to go to with a large group. The atmosphere is energetic, and the food an eclectic mix of dishes from seared tuna to ribeye steak. Located near a number of SOMA bars, Julie's is also perfect to grab a bite to eat at before heading out for the night.

More
The Tonga Room is one of the more unusual bars in San Francisco that is fun to go to once. However, the Tonga Room is pricey and just comes across as cheesy. The thunderstorms are pretty neat, but the floating stage in the middle of the room is often occupied by a lounge singer targeted at the over rich over 60's clientele. Beware the 'entertainment' charge that is automatically added to your check after 8PM.

More
If you happen to live close to the ballpark like I do, you cross your fingers and hope for the day when a bar or restaurant opens up that isn't designed to cater solely to the baseball "tourists" that head into the neighborhood. Every bar here seems to charge $5.50 where in other neighborhoods you would pay $4.25 maximum. At least at O'Neill's you get a full 22 ounces of Murphy's Stout for $5.75. But MoMo's? 16 ounces of beer for $6.
That's not local love. That's gouging tourists and anyone else who happens to go there.
I can't comment on the food, the clientele or anything else. I can say at these prices, MoMo's is a No No.
