Best vegetarian restaurant in NYC patrons and abroad 1/3/2012

Hi all, I used to work for QL for 15 years as a server and of course eating there. In term of price, I don't think you get a better bargain than this. In term of service, i know that you have gotten and will always get the best service in town from the beautiful, tall, gracious waitress there. I'd like to clarify a few misunderstandings. First, the restaurant is not 100% vegan (that is free of fish, egg and dairy product). We add fish to attract more customers. eggs are just served during brunch and we do serve cheese for a few dishes. You can ask for soy cheese if you are willing to pay a little extra. Are all vegetables organic? No not all. Just some. Why not all? Because they are very expensive. But all the grains, beans, rice, pancake flour are all organic, including maple syrup. As for delivery, please understand we can't hire too many deliverers so that the food comes to you faster. Again it's the additional cost! We want to keep a reasonable price for health-conscious patrons who want a diet of well-balanced fibers and nutrition devoid of meat. Please if you have any comments and advise please mention them to the owner and the tall beautiful gracious waitress. We are listening to all your constructive criticisms. Thank U to all who have made QL your favorite restaurant and for your continuous support. I loved working there and was really proud of the kitchen and wait staff (with whom I fortunately worked over 15 years). Thank U to all customers whom I met and served for all these years. I missed all of you. Thank U QL and thank U (the owner) for 15 wonderful years working in your restaurant. more

Try the french fries 6/23/2010

A great little vegan restaurant. They top their vegan burgers with so much, by the time you bite into the burger, you'll forget it's not meat. My favorite thing they serve is the french fries. They're crispy and full of flavor. The staff is very friendly and the prices are good. Know that they serve room temperature water, unless you ask for ice. If you don't want to go vegan, they serve a great salmon teriyaki, but ask for a salad instead of the steamed veggies if you want more flavor. Pros: Delicious vegan food Cons: They can get busy more

Avoid 10/3/2008

I live in the city and eat regularly at many vegetarian restaurants. Walked by this one and decided to try it for carryout. The place is charming and clean and the service was friendly. Unfortunately, the food was not very good. Both my wife and I concurred that the place was subpar to say the least. The tiny veggie burrito left a taste in our mouth that did not go away all evening. I wish these people the best, but they must try a lot harder. Especially with all the other great veg places around. Pros: Nice decor Cons: Food more

more than just vegan! 6/2/2008

Cozy (and small) place with a variety of healthy choices, not just vegan and vegetarian, but including fish. Try one of their vegetable smoothies. Very reasonably priced for a place in the heart of the Village. more

Veggie, comfy, tasty! 12/8/2007

Stumbled upon this place on a Sunday morning after an intense night out. My stomach couldn't have been happier with its nutritious, hearty, whole-grain goodness brunch! I have been a regular since, and I have brought countless friends to experience the extensive veg. menu (includes a macrobiotic dish or two) and down to earth atmosphere. Extensive burger menu and tasty burritos. Only drawbacks are the unavailability of certain desserts, lack of alcohol, and the place seems understaffed. Despite this, I keep coming back! Pros: atmosphere, varitey, taste, value Cons: no alcohol, out of desserts, wait staff too busy during peak times more

Good vegetarian, healthy food 8/17/2007

This place is a decent vegetarian restaurant that focuses on healthy food options. The food has been consistently good, but about 10% of the time they miss the mark. Their veggie burgers are tasty, and they have a good weekend brunch. Beware that this place can get very hectic on the weekends, and the staff isn't that responsive. They are pleasant enough, but they aren't good at refilling coffee/water. I have been told there is a 10 minute wait to sit, and a half hour later I decide to leave because they have forgotten about us. Pros: Decent food and prices Cons: Poor service more

NOT TO BE MISSED! 6/19/2007

1)amazing food\r 2)over the top friendly service\r 3)calm, easy-going atmosphere\r 4)excellent value\r 5)no corkage fee!!! \r can't beat this place...a meat eater would be equally as satisfied! Pros: food, prices, no corkage fee more

Great food and ambiance!;) 5/16/2007

I had brunch here with my friend recently and loved it! Probably the healthiest vegi omelette and potatoes I'll ever have other than what I would cook for myself! The service was very polite and everyone working there seemed happy! I really liked the decor--it had a lot of earth tones to it! The bread that comes to your table is healthy also! I can't wait to go back for dinner! Prices are very reasonable too!! And that never hurts! Pros: Great food, ambience, staff and cost! Cons: None! more

Best Salmon with lemon herb spices ever!!!! 4/9/2007

It is pretty small but they have great service and they recommend plates according to what you are looking to eat whether its very healthy or everyday healthy. The quesadillo appetizer was out of this world as well as the hammu dip in pitta bread. The salmon luch whether with garlic or lemon herb is fabulous and would recommend to anyone, the selection of vegetables that comes with it is not too varied and that's the only downside. The peanut butter tofu is very good, doesn't taste like tofu at all, more like cheesecake but creamier. Do not have the Mixed fruit cake, it is way too sweet and you cannot tell what the actual fruit is, I only noticied two fruits so I don't know if two fruits would make it a mixed fruit cake. Pros: best salmon luch ever!!! Cons: variety of veggies is not that great more

Be healthy here! 12/3/2002

I almost don't want to rate this b/c I want it to remain a best kept secret...the food is great--it makes you feel good to eat well...definitely enough to fill you up..the salmon lunch special is amazing! the ambiance DOES need help, but you don't come here for that. enjoy! more

Good Food, More Charm 11/10/2002

Food is great. Healthy. Ambience needs much improvement, but not necessary. Place to go with friends for a casual bite to eat. Sad to see they are going cheesey with the new neon sign and cheap signs on the sidewalk. The place had more charm without them. Pros: Cheap, Healthy, Great taste more

wow! look at their Veggie Burger menu 11/4/2002

Just found out that Quantum Leap has a new and big V.G. Burger selection. I think they must have a dozen variety. I ordered the Grilled Salmon Burger and my lady had the Garden V.G. Burger. they're jumbo and even served with a plate of salad. the toasted organic whole wheat bun is good. My lady especially raves about their Carrot Ginger dressing. For that price of $5.95 (Samon Burger) and $4.95 (Garden Burger) who can beat that. It really worth the trip! Pros: inexpensive, food always consiste, attentive service Cons: WkendBrunch too crown more

The place to be a regular 8/10/2002

Since I was first introduced to Quantum Leap, I've found myself back a few times a week, relaxing to food that left me feeling satisfied and healthy. The weekend brunch cannot be missed, I recommend the waffles, pancakes (with that blueberry topping!), and homefries especially. Pros: cheap, wholesome, relaxed more

YUM YUM Healthy 6/20/2002

I have been going to Quantum Leap for several years now. The food is always fresh and very tasty. The vegetables are not overcooked and the food is seasoned nicely. Some people think healthy means bland-not at Quantum Leap-even meat eaters would like this place. Everything is reasonably priced and servings are generous. The ambience is lacking, but when the food is this good, I can overlook it. Pros: Food, Price, Healthy Cons: Ambience more
