It's all about the food! 11/12/2009

I live outside that city and discovered this little jewel through friends. Now, it's become a city visit tradition. Even on the first visit you are greeted like family and it only gets better with repeated dinings. Being more of a California wine drinker they have expanded my awareness of some fine Italian's, their recommendations have always been on target. The food is simply great and I often wonder if they have a gang of old Italian grandmothers at work back in the kitchen! It's got that home cooked, using the freshest ingredients taste, with the elegant presentation one expects today. I find the space just the right size but sometimes you'll have to enjoy the cozy bar before getting a table. If you get lucky or want to impress visitors or your partner, wait for one of the tables with a view of the Empire State Building. At night it's really quite stunning. Pros: The food, wine list, atmosphere and killer view of the ESB Cons: Popular, but worth the wait for a table more

Great Italian place 11/12/2009

I loved the food, especially the pasta. The service was OK. The atmosphere is comfortable but , the food is the draw. Excellent. Pros: Excellent homemade pasta Cons: Small bar more

Out of this world!! 11/12/2009

Pasticcio is my favorite Italian Restaurant. Whether I go for brunch or dinner I am never disapointed. No matter what I order it is perfection. One of my all time favorites is the Risotto I love it, another is the pasta (any pasta dish) is always cooked to perfection. Even just sitting at the bar is great because the atmosphere is so comfortable. The owners are also very friendly and welcoming. I Pros: Never disapointed!!!! Cons: none! more

Always a great time! 11/12/2009

I have been dining at Pasticcio for years, and have always had a great time. The food is fantastic, so fresh and delicious. Dessert is a must as well. And don't forget the wine - best when shared in this inviting atmosphere with friends and family. Can't wait to go again! Pros: Food, service, prices Cons: None more

What a great find 11/12/2009

I recently went to Pasticcio after a friend suggested it. I was very impressed. From the food to the atmosphere, it was a delightful dining experience. I am so glad I checked it out, I will definitely be back there. When you go, be sure to have the tiramisu - it was the best I have had in the city. Pros: Great food more

Fantastic lasagna 11/12/2009

Just like my grandma's lasagna! Perfectly cooked and such a generous portion. I shouldn't have eaten it all, but it was so yummy, I couldn't put my fork down. The service was great, and I would hihgly recommend this place to NYC residents and visitors alike. Pros: Food, food, food more

Awesome Italian 11/12/2009

I actually come to Pasticcio from the UES - that is how much I love it! It is a great place to have dinner with friends or family. The food is always delicious, and it is always a great surprise to hear the specials - there are so many, and they never disappoint. Worth the trip, every time. Pros: Everything more

roaches 10/7/2009

So gross, a roach running around the trashcan in the ladies' room when I went to wash my hands then another on the wall in the waiters station when I walked out. I know these are supposed to be common in NYC but catching sight of 2 in less than two minutes is bad. Cons: roaches more

Great Food, friendly service and atmosphere 1/11/2009

My boyfriend took me to this place, that his friend recommended, for my birthday last week. They sat us at a quiet corner table. I had homemade Fettuccini with fish, which was amazing. My boyfriend had the Bronzino that looked delicious and fresh, which he said it was. For dessert, we had the homemade Tiramisu . The whole staff sang happy birthday. They made it a special night . Thanks to the guys at Pasticcio. A great experience. Pros: Great food Cons: Parking , always tough in NYC more

Fresh pasta and brushetta 12/16/2008

This is one of my favorite italian restaurants in murray hill. From the inviting lounge when you first walk in to the large dining room as well as outdoor seating. This restaurant has something for everyone. I recently came here and ordered the whole wheat pasta with the chicken in a mustard sauce. It was very light and fullfilling, to start i had the brushetta which was excellent. All in all the place was great and enjoyable. Pros: pasta Cons: none more

A Neighborhood Gem 12/15/2008

This restaurant has been serving fantastic food for over 25 years and I have been a fan since day one. The Pasta is always home made, the seafood couldn't be any fresher, and the desserts are a party in your mouth. I've never had a bad meal here and I eat here quite often. My daughter and I spend every birthday here and She will go nowhere else for her birthday. Trust me, she's picky. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm, friendly, neighborhood spot. Cons: None more

I literally left penniless'still hungry and disappointed 11/14/2008

Excellent Real Italian Food 10/30/2008

Not sure where that last reviewer ate , but it couldn't have been Pasticcio. They don't have a sommelier, never have. That's not their style. I've been going there for 13 years. It has been a family run restaurant for 28 years. You don't last in NYC that long if your food is an afterthought and unaffordable. Try Pasticcio on Third Ave & 31 st. Ask for Nick. Taste the food, then decide. posted ,11/ 24/ 08. more

Great neighborhood find! 10/20/2008

This neighborhood Italian restaurant welcomes you as part of their family! I am not sure if some of the other reviewers have ever really experienced dinner there. As a neighborhood resident, I have eaten at Pasticcio very often and have never had a problem. The service is attentive, the food is so fresh, and the ambience is relaxed and cozy. Some of my favorites include the beef carpaccio, the pesto bruschette, and the lobster ravioli. Do not leave there without tasting the best tiramisu that there ever was - it is homemade! I strongly recommend this restaurant and encourage some of the previous reviewers to revisit - as far as Manhattan restaurants are (and as a New Yorker, I have eaten at many of them!), this is a gem. more

Fantastic Food! 10/20/2008

WOW, What an experience! My wife is a picky person when it comes to dining out. We recently (Saturday night) went out to Pasticcio's for some appetizers and drinks and stayed for dinner as well. The food was awesome, the atmosphere very relaxing and the service was very attentive to my wife's needy personality. We are making plans to bring our friends from out of state next month to enjoy the Gem we found in this restaurant! A rare find and put Pasticcio's on your dinning list for restaurants to try and enjoy!!! more

GET A LIFE 7/26/2008

Wow, how someone can totally slander a person or a business with no recourse...I happened to be a diner when the "so called cigarette butt" was found in the plate. First of all get your facts straight..Nicola is a man! Not a woman. Secondly, after your group left, and thank God you did, the manager Piera, apologized for "YOUR" behavior and proceeded to show us your clean dish with the cigarette butt in it. I guess the food wasn't too bad, you cleaned your plate. My evaluation of what occured is that your mission that evening was to get a free meal for you and your three friends. Remember, as a PAYING customer, if I wanted to hear DRAMA with my meal, I would have gone to a show before dinner! Next time go to Burger King...it's more on your level. For anyone reading this...Pasticcio Restaurant is EXCELLENT...Never had a bad meal there. Pros: Great Food...Good Value more

CIGARETTE BUTT IN FOOD! 6/27/2008

Update: So now there is a roach problem. Interesting given this place also serves cigarette butts in their food. Roach problem should say something about the sanitary conditions in their kitchen and establishment. Maybe that has something to do with why this restaurant is shut down until the spring for "renovations." Don't eat at a place with these kinds of issues. Much better and CLEANER Italian places in the city that won't offer the snotty attitude you get here. Funny how aimees1 has one restaurant review to her name. Work at Pasticcio maybe? Update: After walking by this place I decided to check it on CS given my dining companions (and others) have panned it. So a month after my meal someone who was dining at the same time as us wrote a review. I'm sure aimees1 has no affiliation with the restaurant at all. I'm not in the business of scamming rests. out of $17. The dish was pasta and the Capri was stuck in a coil of pasta at the bottom of the plate. If I was just looking to save $17, why would I then go and write a review about it? Original: What to say about this place. We took a gamble on a place no one in our party had ever eaten at. Place was celebrating its 27th or 28th anniversary so we figured it probably serves good fare. Well, as it turns out Pasticcio serves fare with cigarette butts in it. After getting to the bottom of a plate, my girlfriend happened upon a cigarette butt. After alerting the manager to the problem, she immediately became uber defensive and claimed that there is no way that a cigarette butt could end up in the food. Hence, it had to have been placed there deliberately by us so that we could try and save $17. She comped us the dish, but at the same time copped a legendary attitude about how we put the cigarette butt in the food intentionally and muttered "I shouldn't even have comped your dish." Those words prompted our immediate exit. But not before we warned all of the remaining diners to check their food for unsanitary trash. For a place that has been in business for nearly three decades, I find it unbelievable that a manager would treat people with such blatant disregard and disrespect. I was appalled at her behavior and her utter lack of professionalism. Avoid this place at all costs. Finally, the non-cigarette butt tainted food was average at best. Not worth accepting average fare if it comes with attitude, disrespect, snottiness, unwarranted accusations, crappy service, and most importantly, food mixed with used cigarettes. Do NOT eat here. Cons: Horrible manager, cigarette butt in food more

Worst service ever, expensive food, small portions. DON'T GO HERE! 6/25/2008

I've never been blatantly ignored in a restaurant by three different waiters before, so this place was a first. It took them over 20 minutes to take our order after we insisted we were ready. It took them 15 minutes for the check after asking multiple times. They waiters didn't care to make us happy or provide us with what we wanted. The food was not bad I will say, but the overall experience was horrible. Word is getting out since this place was empty when we arrived and left and all the other restaurants around it were packed. Pros: Food Cons: Horrible horrible horrible service. Worst ever. more

Sick!!! 6/15/2008

So my friends and I stumbled on this place and decided it looked pretty good. Boy, were we wrong. We had all just about finished our mediocre meals when my friendfound herself chewing a Virgina Slims butt. That's not the worst part! The restaurant owner came over and proceeded to lecture us on how IMPOSSIBLE it could have been for a cigarette but to be in the food as no one at HER restuarant smokes. Now that's even more disgusting than the cigarette. The owner then hovered over our table while we finished our drinks to see if she could catch us talking about our big scheme to get a $17 plate of pasta for free. As we paid she snickered to the waiter that she shouldn't have comped the dish as we were clearly making the whole thing up. For a restaurant that has been in business for a couple of decades you'd think they would have learned something about A.) making decent food and about B.) customer service. I guess not. Pros: none Cons: unsanitary more

Disgusting food....even more appalling customer service!!!Disgusting food....even more appalling customer service!!! 6/15/2008

My dinner there this past weekend was probably the single worst dining experience of my life. As my friend stated in the review below, she found a Capri cigarette in her dish on her final bite....disgusting right? Well Nicola Maurello, the rude and nasty owner, offered ZERO apology and then later she accused us of planting the cigarette butt in the dish. The cleanliness of the kitchen and the quality of food produced is obviously well below par to me as this has never happened to me in any other establishment. A warning to all who are thinking about dining at Pasticcio -- AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS Pros: Zero Cons: Disgusting food, Poor Customer Service more
