We randomly found this place walking around. We lucked out! Super friendly bartenders, fun music, and good vibe. The food was typical bar food, but it was great! Nice pick if you're in the area!! Can't wait to visit again! Pros: Food, drinks, waitstaff more

Fabulous Times Square Irish Bar!! 8/14/2008

I had some friends in town recently--first-time New Yorkers--and so we were doing the whole Times Square thing, as of course, they were enamoured by all the lights. Well, at about midnight, after several hours of cocktails, we saw this AWESOME green sign for O'Lunney's, we were in need of some food, ands this looked like a perfect place; indeed, it was!! Once we got inside, we switched from our cocktails to enjoy their huge variety of good ole Irish beer (liquor was available, of course). We ordered a few appetizers to get us started: jalapeno poppers, chicken fingers amd potato skins, all of which were delicious!!! Then we even decided to try to real Irish food and we were sure glad we did!! We oreder ""Bangars and Mash"" an irish style sausage with fesh mashed potatoes, and we also ordered Shepherd's Pie---to die for!!!! I will definitely be bringing all my future guests to experience this truly Irish Pub in the heart of Times Square and the Theatre District!! Pros: AWESOME IRISH BAR!! Great service, delicious food, and reasonably priced drinks!! more

BEST DATE SPOT EVER!!! 8/14/2008

I wish that we had an O'Lunney's in Westchester!!! I stopped at this quaint little spot with my guy before we went to go and see our show-I absolutely loved the authentic Irish cuisine-I got an order of sheperds pie for my mother because I knew it was so good it would remind her of life growing up in Dublin-IT WAS THAT GOOD. The scene was very welcoming, with great service. All of the employees where very friendly and welcoming-it seems as though it would be a great place to work. I stuffed my belly to the brim, and couldn't help to sample a desert. I could not have asked for a better experience. After the show, we even stopped back for a drink.I will recommend this spot to anyone that wants tasty food, and reasonable prices.\r \r Did I mention their long list of brews and drinks for VERY reasonable prices in NYC? TRY THE GOULASH! you won't be disappointed. Pros: Reasonable prices, great service, and amazing food more

Sub par food, terrible service... 5/20/2008

While I rarely make it to this part of town, a close friend of mine recommended this place to me as a good pre-theater venue. While my partner had come in contact with tickets to Hairspray, we found ourselves at this establishment last Sunday. From the moment we sat down the service was terrible. Furthermore, the waiter and manager made no effort to turn things around and the ""snowball"" effect was in full swing. We waited about twenty minutes for the waiter to take our order. In addition to his mishap, we also waited about twenty minutes for him to refill our beers. Once the food finally came the manager came over and quality checked before we had even started. She really asked ""How does the food look?"". Not too sure where they recruit their managers at this place but Macdonald's would be a more suitable environment for this women. more

Worst Service and Manager 5/20/2008

I used to be a loyal customer of this establishment, but I was greatly disappointed the other evening. We were greeted by a server, but he then left on his apparent break. We did not see another server for the next 45 minutes. My friend had to go to the bar to get our own drinks. Once she got our drinks, the manager had to come to our table because our server had forgotten about us. The food was fine...but when the bill came, the drinks we had initially ordered from the server were on the bill (which we had never received). We had to argued with the manager to have them removed...she never took our word for it, we had to show her proof of purchase from the bar...(how often does that happen--- to remove one drink from the bill???) She was confrontational, and not accommodating, nothing was appeased, it was one of the worst pub experiences I have had. I will never go back there...and I do not recommend it to tourists or new yorkers... more

Great Bar 5/17/2008

This was our first time in NYC. We had a wonderful time. At the end of each day after sightseeing, we would stop in this bar for a couple of drinks. All of the staff was incredibly friendly making us feel like regulars. The manager and owner were fantastic as well. I can't say enough good things about this bar. The food and the drinks are great as well, but it's the atmosphere and the service that made this bar one of our favorite places to sit and relax. Pros: service, atmosphere more

Irish Hospitality 9/16/2007

Great find in Times Square. Beautiful bar, gorgeous Celtic carvings, and they give you a ""Strong pour"" if you know what I mean, at the bar! Very friendly and a hot spot for office workers I perceived.\r The owner is a wonderful gentleman.........from Donnegal.\r \r The wings are stupendous and whatever else that sailed by us looked plentiful & delicious.\r \r Try it......... Pros: good drinks, & service more

This is a pretty blase place right near Times Square. The food is good, but it's a little overpriced for bar food. The staff is definitely Irish and tries to be friendly, but it draws a bit of a strange crowd that has a tendency to prevent you from having a good time. Occassionally, they have live music one side of the bar (there are 2). Nothing about this place stands out in particular, but if you are looking for a clean quiet place to have a drink, you could do worse. Pros: Clean Cons: Expensive more

Best Bar MANAGER 12/7/2005

I recently found O Lunneys having made a pledge to myself that while I live in NYC & Irish, I will not enteran Irish bar. Id had a crazy busy day& wanted a bit of the home comforts when I found this place. I pulled up a chair at the bar and the bar manager Ronny, was so welcoming and funny he put me completly at ease. Being a single girl in a bar can be quite daunting in new york. He was great company and full of information. I stayed for dinner, which was good, not fantastic food, but definatly value for money and had a few beers. My bill at the end was so low I got a shock. When does that ever happen in NEW YORK? I would encourage you all to make a stop at this bar &restaurant for the fantastic service and homely feel. more

Great pub and food 10/3/2005

Everytime my husband and I go to NYC we always go to O'Lunney's. This restaurant has great Irish food ( and good burgers also) and great drinks and service. It is kind of pricey, but then again you are in Times Square so what can you expect? I really love this place!!!! Pros: great food, good service more

Love it 6/26/2005

O'Lunney's was a fave of my roomies and I when it was on 46th - then they closed, we left the city, and we were all sad. Now O'Lunney's is back (tho a block south, on 45th), and I'm in as often as possible. Great food, cider on tap (a rarity, believe me!), and Mr. O'Lunney and his sons are as charming as ever. It's a great after-work place as well as a great hangout on the weekends. Pros: Irish bartenders, cider on tap Cons: location, location, location more

O'Lunney's is the Best! 6/10/2005

I generally try to make a trip to NYC every year. O'Lunney's is always a must-do. My Mom, sisters and I stumbled upon O'Lunney's 4 years ago on a birthday trip. We made a point to stop by every afternoon after sight-seeing and usually ended up there at the end of every evening. When one of my sisters and I returned a year later, the bartenders actually remembered us! Everyone there makes you feel like you are one of the family. The prices are reasonable, the food is great (try the corned beef and cabbage) and the drinks are just right. The staff is just icing on the cake. Do not pass it up ! more

Came across the restaurant by chance as I was attending the play ""STEEL MAGNOLIAS"" next door. The hostess was standing outside and was very accomodating by giving us their menu to read before we even entered. Once we decided, we were seated immediately and our waiter, Arturo, promptly brought a plate of delicious Irish soda bread and took our drink order. My 84 year old mother ordered their Filet of Sole - easy on her delicate stomach. I ordered the poached salmon but the kitchen prepared it grilled. Our hostess immediately expressed her regrets and told me the kitchen was redoing the order even though I told her I eat the fish grilled also. ""No no "" she said - ""the customer's satisfaction comes first. "" Even held mom's plate until mine arrived and both dishes were perfectly done. Reasonable priced and will definitely return. more

Just Right 5/31/2005

We decided upon O'Lunney's partly as a default because we were overwhelmed with all the options in NYC, partly because the receptionist came out to greet us and tell us about the restaurant as we looked at their menu, and partly because the kitchen is open LATE. We received way more than we expected. The service was excellent and the food was very good for the price. The picture posted here doesn't show you some of the details that make this place quite modern in spite of being a pub. I really enjoyed it and will definitely return. If you need a good place to go, want to feel relaxed, and you don't want to break the bank, then this is the destination for you in Midtown. Pros: Value, Service, Location more

Best of the best 7/6/2004

I ran across O'Lunneys on my first visit to NYC in May of 2002...and I have returned religously every visit since. To start the food is delicious and the portions are huge...And even better the service and staff are second to none...on my third visit the staff started remembering my name. A great place for lunch or dinner or even for a stop off before or after a show. (The corned beef and cabbage is better even than my grandmothers) Pros: great food, friendly staff, superb atmosphere more

First Stop 4/9/2003

My friends and I stop here first nearly every drinking trip to the city. Great place more
