We loved it! A group of us needed a centrally located hotel. We found the Moderne Hotel online. Right away it looked groovy. The setting is early 60s. The rooms were clean and the...

What a dump! 5/13/2006

First room they put me in had a window that didn't lock so I asked for another room which they gave me. HOWEVER, the decor in the room was shabby and worn out, no cable TV and no hot water in the bathroom. Room was very dark and dreary with a view of a brick wall. Yes, the location is great but there are MUCH nicer hotels in the area. Pros: Location, Coffee Room Cons: No hot water, Decor, No view more

Location is everything 6/7/2005

We were close to everything. The room was clean comfortable, and everthing worked. The bed was large the TV was small, so what, you are in New York.... We were rarely in the room anyway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even brought ice to our room. Our view was a brick wall, but it cut the noise. Nice view of the street from the comfortable room where there was always hot coffee. Pros: bed, location, coffee room Cons: view, small TV more

Location is the key to NYC! 5/31/2005

We loved it! A group of us needed a centrally located hotel. We found the Moderne Hotel online. Right away it looked groovy. The setting is early 60s. The rooms were clean and the staff helped us find restaurants in the area. The subway was close as well as Time Square and Central Park. Rooms were small but who cares it was a place to throw the luggage and crash after a night on the town. My review is if you want something close thats inexpensive and clean this is the place. Location , location, location Pros: price, clean , location Cons: small room more

don't waste your money on this hotel. service terrible when i complained did not help. nothing works. told them i wanted to check out early they charged me $50 fee. also rooms very noisy. you can hear street sounds all night.. Cons: nothing worked, no hot water, no safe more

Looks Fabuous, but not functional 9/5/2002

Elevator was broken, I was told the bags would be brought up to my room , after being there for 20 minutes I called to see what happened and was told they would be brought up when the elevator was fixed. I was only on the second floor!! I was told if I wanted my luggage brought up before the elevator was fixed I would have to go get it myself. The room aesthetically was great! One morning I couldnt get hot water and had to take a cold shower. The instructions on the phone from the ""Amsterdam Court Hotel"" said to press 8 to get an outside line, when I asked the front desk why it wasnt working I was laughed at and told to press 9. Save up a little extra money and go down the street to Le Parker Meridian!!! Its so much nicer! Pros: Looks Cons: rude staff, bad amenities more
