Best

The best breakfast in Seattle! They have the such a great brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. My favorite is their Macaroons!!!!!!!! They don''t have them all the time but when they ...

Worst

The food can be great, but quality control isn't. If a batch it burned, they'll sell it for the same price as the good batch from the day before. Also, they let friends jump ahe...

Macrina Bakery 11/28/2006

I can't tell you how much we love Macrina - it's one of the best we've found in the area and few Seattleites will disagree. It's fairly easy to get to - though I'd recommend finding what you want (on their website) calling in the order and then picking it up... Sometimes what they have on-hand can go quickly. more

Macrina's Bakery 4/27/2006

Macrina's makes wonderful cakes and baked goods. i've seen people at their belltown store tasting flavors and it made me want to pose as a bride just to get the beautiful platter of cake slices. don't know if a tasting costs anything... more

Try Macrina in Belltown for Birthday Cakes and More 4/11/2006

A month ago, I ordered a fantastic chocolote cake from Macrina in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood. It was for my mother's birthday and she's a big cake and chocolate fan. She loved it and so did everyone else fortunate enough to grab a piece. Macrina is known as a terrific bakery in town and makes a mean birthday cake. You can't go wrong. more

Only Your Baker Knows 12/7/2005

So, you want to give your barista, kid's teachers and postal carrier an assortment homemade cookies, neatly nestled in a cardboard pastry box and tied with French bistro twine to let them know how much you appreciate what they do throughout the year. A thoughtful and time-honored gesture to be sure. The only problems: you don't bake and you have no idea what French bistro twine is. No problem; Leslie Mackie, the owner of Macrina Bakery does. She and her crew of artisan bakers are at the ready with an assortment of traditional holiday confections such as Angel Thumbprints, Swedish Overnights, Mexican Wedding Cakes and Lemon-Pistachio Crescents. Other holiday treats that you can call your own include decorated gingerbread men cookies, spiced nuts, panettone and cranberry chutney. They even sell brandied fruitcake. more

brunch not worth the wait 11/13/2005

i live upstairs in the same building and i never really understood why people wait so long for the breakfasts there. the breakfast is very good but the long wait, rich prices, and cramped quarters seem a bit much to me. i do love their sandwiches though - the roast beef one is awesome -- great bread, nice mustard, good beef, and nice veggies. also, the muffins are good if ur in the mood to splurge but again, $3 for a muffin is really starting to get out of hand. more

you'll gain 10 lbs just walking past this place 10/30/2005

one of the best bakeries i've ever encountered. short of 5 stars because they are pricey. but man oh man, EVERYTHING they make is outstanding. breads, cakes, brownies - delicious, fresh, great combo of ingredients, etc. if you get hooked on sweets easily, don't even step foot in macrina or you will never leave more

For the love of the Savory Biscuit! 9/1/2005

I've been to Macrina many times...many many times. And I've tried a variety of items. But being a "savory" kinda gal, the Savory Biscuit is by far my favorite! This tasty treat is at time sheer perfection, slightly salty with rosemary and ham. Granted, there are days it is too crumbly, days it's heavy as a brick, one day they forgot the salt, and days it's still gooey on the inside...but despite all of this I continue to order my Savory Biscuit on the chance it's the day it is utter biscuit perfection! more

Heaven's Bake 8/18/2005

I don't really have much of a sweet tooth, so a lot of this kind of thing is wasted on me. When I do have an occasion to have a cake, QFC's sheet cakes are out of the question. If the occasion is important enough to warrant having a cake. Don't skimp. There stuff is freshly made, they use the best ingredients and for this salt junky, it is all quite tasty. You've gotta have christmas cookies at the holidays and I don't bake. Thank you Macrina. more

Best Bakery 7/5/2005

I've been in Seattle for seven years and until I found Macrina, I was convinced a decent bakery was nowhere to be found. You walk in and are immediately assaulted by the most fragrent of bakery smells. Everything is delicious. They serve breakfast and lunch daily (not sure about dinner) and I've never been disappointed. Great atmosphere, food and coffee. What more could you want? more

Bakery with great breakfasts and lunches 6/20/2005

this is not a greasy spoon in case you are looking for a five egg omelet with the works but Macrina's does have delicious baked goods, a few yummy breakfast items like french toast and oatmeal and lunch items. brunch is served on the weekends. i've only eaten at the belltown location (not the queen anne) and i've always enjoyed their sandwiches, soups and salads which involve their delicious bread in some presentation. as a bakery, macrina's provides bread to numerous restaurants in seattle and sells a wide variety of loaves, buns and baked goods. check out their website for hours and menu items. this is also a great place to get wedding/special occasion cakes. http://www.macrinabakery.com/ more

Macrina is an incredible bakery - if only they could get their service right 5/5/2005

This is one my family's favorite places to have breakfast or lunch or to pick up that last minute dessert that we were supposed to bring to a dinner party. When we do, we are always loved for the incredible dessert! Everything they make is delicious and top quality. However, they have not yet been able to figure out the store design or service to make the ordering and dining experience easy. more

Breads are tasty and the Challah is to die for... 6/23/2004

Though Lisa Chick and others have abandoned this joint for Essential (Essentch as we often call it), it still rocks the party. The challah is great as well as all breads. Its packed for breakfast on weekends but worth the wait- very creative menue with all kinds of herbs mixed in and fresh breads/pizza crusts accenting all entrees. Lunch is great too. And how can you beat staring in the window while the bakers frost cakes and roll out dough! Essential could use some windows into their kitchen! more
