Best

Kenneth is the type of stylist, hair cutter, hair dresser, colorist, whatever you want to call him, who is energetic an bold. He has been doing hair for nearly 20 years. Kenneth...

Worst

I went in for a haircut because of the good reviews, and hoping to find ?my place,? where I could become a regular. It seemed on the expensive side, but I was hoping it?d be worth...

SCOTT WASSERMAN is the best colorist around! 7/20/2006

I'm hooked from the first day I came in and saw Scott. He's the best stylist and colorist around! I used to go to Warren&Tricomi salon before Scott and now I don't go anywhere else except Zoia's Salon. He's really professional and super friendly. Love him, just love him! My hair looks amazing! You must see him if it's for color, high lights or just get a great, trendy cut. Pros: Cool staff/Very Skillful more

SEE SCOTT WASSERMAN!! 5/14/2006

Scott Wasserman is amazing! He works with you-- to give you exactly what you want because he cares and he's talented! I went to him for highlights and he listened to me and worked with me in giving the results I desired!! Love him!! He does a great work !! more

Royal Treatment... 3/24/2006

I feel refreshed. I had a great time, from the shampoo to the coffee to the great job done by both Zoia and Scott. Thanks so much. more

terrible haircut 3/18/2006

I will never return here nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. My stylist was not friendly at all. I've been trying to grow my hair out for seven months and it is now shorter than when I started. Not only is my hair much shorter than I wanted it is a terrible haircut. She texturized half of my hair off and still manged to leave me with a horrible mushroom shaped cut and uneven layers. I truly am astounded that there are so many positve reviews on this website. Pros: cute interior Cons: unfriendly stylist, terrible cut more

Scott's da bomb! 3/15/2006

I went last week for my first experience at this hip salon. I had a great time and Scott was AMAZING. My cut and color are both top notch - he spent a lot of time with me, even though I had a lot of hair to deal with which made him behind. He took so much care and took time to understand what I wanted and do it right. My cut is extraordinary and I feel like a million bucks. more

User review by missdylan 1/27/2006

I have meaning to do this since my last experience at Zoia. Scott is great. The best haircut I have had in years...twice!! Thank you guys for being such a good business. My best to you for many years of service. more

are you blue? ...i am 1/12/2006

a friend who's as picky as i am when it comes to hair recommended zoia. but not only did i want a great cut, i also wanted to highlight my hair BLUE. the other salons just looked at me like i was crazy. i get there & scott gets excited by the request. oddly enough, despite the salon's location, they don't get many requests for funky colors. i was there for hrs since my hair's so damn stubborn. scott refused to give up.. all he really wanted was that smile at the end of it all. as for the haircut, i showed zoia a picture & it was done! but of course i can't neglect to thank the ever friendly inez [hope i got the name right] who saved my butt! whether you know exactly what you want or is the type to just go, ""surprise me"", go to zoia. more

Happy Face! 1/3/2006

I just went from DARK BROWN to Golden Blonde in a matter of hours. The process was long and grueling, but Scott stuck with me until I was happy with the outcome. He has a lot of talent and is willing to use all of it to make YOU happy. I really think this salon as a whole is wonderful. I have to rave about Scott b/c he really is amazing at what he does... I don't think you will leave without a smile on your face... he won't let you. Pros: Cafe Attached, Nice Staff more

You Will Keep Coming Back...It's Like Going Home 1/2/2006

I haven't written a comment about Zoia's Salon in awhile. I first came to Zoia when I walked off the street in 2003. I kept looking in the window and seeing the fabulous cuts and color and decided to go in. Pros: Fabulous cuts, color, ambience and warmth and concern of staff, Beautiful Color, You're family Cons: None, None, None more

User review by abbeyjd 12/13/2005

My mother and I went salon zoia together. I went for a haircut and she went for a touchup and low-lights. Scott was great! I have the best haircut of my life and my mom's color is natural and pretty. Scott did a great job on both of us. He is talented both with haircuts and color. We are recommending him to all of our friends. more

Oustanding! 12/13/2005

I went to Salon Zoia for the first time today for a cut and color. What a great place! Friendly, warm and very sociable but more important than that, you will find artisans here. I put myself into Zoia's and Scott's hands and they made me look marvelous! They gave me great advice. Zoia has a new baby, Leo, and he's as cute as they come. Scott is a charmer, sweet, careful, and sensitve to your needs. I highly recommend this salon in e-vil. I'm their new number 1 fan! Pros: friendly, artistic, great price more

User review by fabs88 12/8/2005

Due to terrible experiences in the city since I'd left home I hadn't cut my hair in over 8 mos. But, passing by Zoia's by chance, I decided it was time to face my fear and I came out more than happy with the outcome. Scott was amazing!! Everyone has been complimenting my haircut. I haven't been this satisfied with my hair in years. I've recommended this place to all my girlfriends. Thanks so much for being so great!!! more

Great cut and highlights 11/25/2005

Thanks Isis, Wonderful compliments since I received my cut/highlights last month. Easy to get up, wash and go. Fun, great staff! more

want great hilights? come to salon zoia 11/23/2005

Salon Zoia has a great way of doing hair in my opinion, but scott has a way of making everyones hair unique, and never the same, with his hilighting, dying, and cutting techniques. Same goes for Zoia's style of cutting hair. she makes you feel as if you were the first person to walk into her salon and she has to do her best job on you. Pros: very friendly, has a cafe, scott Cons: hard parking more

Bad experience 11/23/2005

Did you all go to the same Salon Zoia I did? I visited this salon because of all the great reviews and had a bad experience. My stylist was cold and seemed like she had no clue what she was doing. For the price I was paying I expected to have someone who knew what they were doing. I was there for almost 3 hours--for just a highlight and cut! The end result was something I could live with but the highlights have faded fast and look bad in some spots-I actually have to part my hair in a certain way. Way over priced and an all around bad experience. I don't recommend and will not be a returning client. more

Great overall experience 11/17/2005

I recently moved the the E-vil having tried many top salons on the UES and UWS. Looking for something in my new hood, i went here b/c of citysearch reviews. Excellent quality experience! Scott, understanding the cut i was getting, applied my highlights strategically/artistically for a great color outcome. Stefan gave me one of the best cuts in my style yet. Many think that those that give raving reviews have some affiliation to the salon owners. I have no such affiliation except great affection for my great new find!! You should try it - you'll be pleased. more

Perfection on East 13th Street 11/14/2005

One day a month I want someone to take my hair seriously so I don't have to the rest of the time. Scott does exactly that. He is able to tread that fine line between giving you exactly what you want and making suggestions that personalize a cut and make it yours. I've tried working with sylists all over Manhattan and in all price ranges and no one has been able to meet my expectations the way Scott has. Highly recommend. more

Finally! 11/12/2005

Like many of us, I've had a really tough time finding a salon and someone I can trust. Well, the search ended when I stepped in Zoia and met Ines. Almost immediatly I felt safe and comfortable. I wasn't too sure of the cut I wanted, I just wanted a little styling and Ines did just that and more. She did a great job. The more she cut the more worried I got but when I looked up and saw myself in the mirror I was SO amazed with her work. My hair came alive again. Since my visit, my hair still looks and feels great. Obrigado Ines! more

A great place for a cut! 11/10/2005

I was a pertually dissatisfied hair salon client. No one ever seemed to get it right. So I drifted from salon to salon hoping I'd find a match I could live with until a friend recommended Zoia. When I met Scott from Zoia I told him that he should expect me to be disappointed, afterall that was what I was accustomed to. He was friendly and we talked about what I hoped for and the kind of hair I had and he was honest and direct about what we could and couldn't do. And the consequence of all that has been 100% customer loyalty. I highly recommend Scott and Zoia Salon. Pros: Friendly, Clean, Pleasant neighborhood Cons: Parking more

Owner Message
  • "Owners and partners Morgan and Paul opened a new edition to Christopher Street, L'atelier in May 2005. L'atelier is a high-end salon without the snooty high-end vibe. Morgan offers his clients not only impeccable service, a friendly staff, and soothing music, but he'll also offer you a glass of wine and great conversation. Having been through the Bumble and Bumble too cool for school mill, I loved the personal feel of this neighborhood salon. The dark wood flowers, white brick walls, black and white photos, and floral arrangements create a comfortable chic."
