I went in for a haircut because of the good reviews, and hoping to find ?my place,? where I could become a regular. It seemed on the expensive side, but I was hoping it?d be worth it. So I tried it out with a Groupon. I discussed with the stylist ? Kenneth ? what I wanted, and showed him pictures. He told me he understood that I wanted my hair longer in the front and shorter in the back. He cut a lot in the back but when I said it was really short, he reassured me that he wouldn?t cut any off the front. (?Don?t worry, you?re not going to have a *bob*!?) He then proceeded to cut the front just as short as the back. (I honestly think he got distracted singing and dancing ? he kept saying how great the songs were that were playing ? and forgot what he was supposed to be doing.) But then, he also styled my hair like a grandma. I pointed out it wasn?t longer in front, but he said it only *looked* like it wasn?t and that maybe if I flat-ironed the front and curling-ironed the back, it would look like what I?d asked for. Okaayy. I was doubtful, but went home and tried it. Didn?t work. I definitely have a bob.
I felt really disappointed and sad, and not at all confident in how I looked. So I called them the next day and got the receptionist. She asked what I would like them to do. I said trim the back more ? even though my hair?s already too short, at least it?d be closer to what I?d originally wanted. She looked and said that because I was a Groupon customer, they wouldn?t fix it for me, but I could come in for another haircut and pay full price. I asked why would I pay more for another haircut when I wasn?t happy with the first one? She said, I guess I?m not sure why you?re calling. I said, I thought I should talk to you rather than just go and write a negative review. She asked me to hold and then a man came on the line and said, ?You want to write a negative review?? I asked who it was, thinking it was Kenneth. He said, ?This is Morgan, the owner. Listen, I?m running a *business* here. If you want to write a negative review, feel free and have a nice life.? Click. He hung up on me. Consummate professionals there at L?Atelier. Maybe the receptionist didn?t explain properly, but the owner didn?t ask me what the problem was or give me a chance to explain myself. Maybe it?s na?ve, but I thought they?d care about a client feeling good about the way she looked and being happy with their service. I was expecting concern, or at the very least, courtesy.
In the words of another reviewer, ?Messing around with someone?s hair can be detrimental to their self esteem. I'm miserable and there?s nothing I can do about it except write this to warn you. It?s not fair that they don?t care.?
