Horrible Food 1/2/2010

I went to this restaurant the other night with my daughter as we had tickets to the ballet. We were seated right away as it was almost empty. I ordered the calamari for us to share and the crab cake for my daughter and the lobster roll for myself. The calamari was inedible, but I still had hope for the entrees. My lobster roll was so covered in mayo you could not taste the lobster, just great globs of mayo and my daughters crab cake was disgusting. Added to this was my daughter became sick (not due to the food) and I asked them to get me the check right away. The server then moved like molasses while we waited to pay for a completely disgusting meal. Never again! more

Romantic 2/5/2008

Very romantic restaurant especially later at night with Lincoln Center lit up outside the window and the dark wood interior. The wait staff are unfailingly friendly and polite even in the face of rude customers. The food is excellent! My wife and I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have always been happy with service, atmosphere and food. Hope this UWS staple never goes away! Pros: Food, ambience, service and location Cons: Crowded and noisy at theater times and brunch! more

tuna made me ill 4/26/2007

Had their trademark tuna last night and was violently sick afterwards. You couldn't get me back with a cattle prod. Cons: bad food .. medically bad more

STAY FAR AWAY 3/26/2007

Josephina is like a bad neighbor that has lived in your neighborhood for way too long and just wont move away. I used to dine there when they opened up years ago and then i decided to stay away for a while since its not consistent. \r Well, the other night, four of us decided to stay local , we all live on the UWS and we thought we would give it another try. We ordered some appetizers and then my girlfriend started screaming . There was a rodent under our table and then we noticed a second one scurrying around as well. Of course we told the manager on duty and his excuse was that they were doing some construction next door. That wasnt a good enough excuse for us. We decided to walk out and then another patron told us that happened to him and his wife as well and the management used the same lame excuse several months before. If there are rodents running around in the dining room, could you imagine whats going on in their kitchen? This is not a well-run establishment and the management didnt even apologize for this horrific experience.\r Stay away from Josephina's... Cons: MANY more

Worst customer Service 6/8/2006

Had a reservation after a very special Graduation day. Got there and was told to wait in line, got up to front and was told I was late and would have to wait 40 min. After explaining to them that I was inline, they said 15 min. I waited over an hour after contantly being told 5 min, table was being set and all kinds of other lies. They should have been up front and admitted that they do not honor reservations. They ruined a very special day and I would definately not recommend this place to anybody!!! Cons: All more

Outrageous! 3/19/2006

I choose this restaurant because of it's proximity to Linclon Center. I had tickets to the ballet, made reservations that allowed me 1 1/2 hours to dine. After waiting for 45 minutes, I was told that ""I should order while my table was being prepared"". Should I hold the pickles? We sat, and overpriced, bad food was rushed out to us.....with the check dropped with the entree's. I guess they needed the table again. Take a little advice, your better off at McDonalds! Cons: Overpriced, Bad Food, Bad Service more

Don't Bother 12/11/2005

making a reservation. You will stay wait 45-60 minutes to be seated. We had to order before sitting down to make our show and bypass first course and dessert. Do yourself a favor and choose another great restaurant by Lincoln Center where you can enjoy the experience of dinner and a show. This restaurant will spoil your night. Pros: Waitress Service, Location Cons: Mismanaged more

Great Outdoor Brunch 10/4/2005

Was pressed for time as it was sunday morning and needed to find a place for brunch quickly. made a reservation with no problems and we were seated promptly (outdoors). They have freshly squeezed oj, delicious french toast that comes with fresh fruit and tasty omlettes. Brunch came with a bread basket that has a wonderful assortment of breads and muffins accompanied by a delightful marmalade... service was great too. perfect place to have in your neighborhood. Pros: outdoor seating, people watching, well priced more

upper-west side ""fail safe"" 10/26/2003

Excellent food--great wine list. Beautiful, airy room. Been going here since '96 and I've always enjoyed it. Taken many friends with diverse tastes and dining habits and everyone is pleased. It is my upper-west side ""fail safe"". Pros: food, dining area more

you could porbably do better 7/20/2003

The prices are way up there, the food was so-so (I ordered the mango chicken and the quesadillas). Great to sit outside and people watch, but with so many good restaurants with outdoor seating, why go here? Pros: outdoor seating, fast service Cons: so-so food more
