Good Vets, One Rude Staff Member 6/28/2009

The vets know there stuff and I was satisfied with my service. I didn't think Dr. Moses was cold or uncaring, he's a vet and a vet is a scientist not a doting mother. HOWEVER, I agree with the comment about the rude staff. There is one girl in particular who is very rude when she answers the phone and in the way that she treats clients. Don't know her name but she's kind of shorter than the other girls, younger, and with a darker complexion (looks like she could be an athlete or dancer of some sort). Anyway, she is REAALLLY rude and abrupt with people. Dr's need to talk to her or replace her because it is a big turn off. more

WORST VET EXPERIENCE 12/18/2008

I have never met a vet with such a COLD and uncaring personality. I would NEVER recommend this clinic. Not only is Dr. Moses without compassion - the staff is very rude. There are too many good vets out there - this place is the WORST. more

Surgery without discussion or permission 10/5/2008

I wouldn't go back here either. I specifically made my appointment with Dr. Thompson, but I got Dr. Moses instead. I wanted my cat's teeth cleaned. They said to come back in an hour, which I did. Forty minutes after I returned, I was informed that they had pulled three of my cat's teeth! I was not warned that this was a possibility, and they were very surprised when I said that I should have at least gotten the courtesy of a call on my cell before they proceeded. I was beside myself. more

I wish someone would have warned me 3/8/2007

I had a terrible experience at Heights Vetrinary. I went in response to reading the reviews here, but was so upset by the way that they treated both my dog and I that I felt a responsibility to inform others. My dog went in for bloodwork prior to an operation. I asked the practice to fax the results to the veterinary hospital where my dog was to have the operation and to inform me if anything was wrong. Sadly, they did neither. The hospital had to repeatedly call to request the results. When none were faxed I called again and spoke to the vet, Jan. She first informed me that it wasn't her fault that records hadn't been sent. When I asked just to hear if the results were ok she told me that my dog's white blood count was far too low and that he should not be having surgery. When I asked why no one told me this after they got the results she once again repeated that it was not her fault and then hung up on me. I was simply stunned. Luckily, the hospital where my dog had already been admitted for another condition jumped to the rescue, doing extra tests, following up and answering my questions. I really, really, really don't recommend ever using this vet. more

Impressed with this practice 1/13/2007

One of my friends takes her cats to this office. Having been a cat breeder, I'm very particular about my vets, but very much liked the atmosphere and care they gave my friend's dying kitty, and how sensitive they were to her pain in the decision-making process. This is where I take my kitties when they need immediate attention. more

Good solid experience with this Vet 8/15/2005

Dr. Moses and Dr. Thompson are a husband and wife team who run a small, capable veterinary practice in Washington Heights. After a horrible experience with another vet in the neighborhood, I gave them a shot and was delighted by the service, reception and treatment given to my cat. Unfortunately, they don't board, but the helpful staff of young women seemed to be constantly accomodating customer requests for petsitting, which is a nice alternative. Everyone seemed content at this place, even the animals, which makes a nice difference from the other neighborhood vet, which is dark and gloomy and depressing (and more expensive!). The vets themselves were professional but never condescending, gentle with my cat and happy to answer all my questions. I highly recommend taking your animals to them. more
