Full of surprises, Frankie's never disappoints. The menu is a little overwhelming (they serve virtually everything) but rest assured that if they offer it, it's probably good. S...

Frankies Spuntino 6/16/2006

Frankies is a hot late night hot spot with some of the hottest dinners and desserts in the city. Everything from the antipasi to the cured meats is made with organic ingredients and the most you pay for any meal is eighteen bucks. I came with some friends awhile ago and we had a great time. The atmosphere was lively and energetic and the decor has that warm yet modern feel to it. more

Good deal on the Upper East Side 5/14/2006

I'll admit, the only reason I go to Frankie's is for the Hungarian food that used to make up Mocca's menu. Mocca used to be just one block over until Frankie's bought them off and merged their menu into Frankie's. While it's another unfortunate sign of the Hungarian flavor that used to make up the East 80s, at least there's something to hold onto. Their prix fixe lunch is a true bargan, a feast for a king for just 8 bucks. Initially, there was a little bit of catching up to do, but now their assimilation of the Mocca menu has come along nicely. The cucumber salad is still not the same, but everything else comes close. Which means I won't be suffering withdrawal from my favorite dish - the wiener schnitzel - which is breaded veal, accompanied by a side of hash potatoes. Followed by a dessert of a walnut and apricot palacinta (crepes), my Hungarian roots are satisfied until my next visit. more

If you are craving for a nice homecooked hungarian food, Frankie's is the place to be. They just merge this business with Mocca, the original hungarian restaurant. It is a good thing that they keep the price. Under 10 bucks for lunch??? what a bargain! A complete meal that is. From soup to dessert and coffee, can't ask for anything else. What a delicious food and a great deal! more
