Has become one of my favorites 2/1/2009

I travel to NYC on business and the Bus Stop Cafe has become one of my favorite restaurants. It has great character with a friendly atmosphere and has very good service. My favorite breakfast there is the pancakes and their omelets are good too. I especially like the white omelet with veggies. For lunch I like the paninis and the salmon salad is always excellent. I find the prices to be very reasonable and one more thing, I love their coffee! I wish I had the Bus Stop at home but at least it is something to look forward to when coming to the Big Apple. Pros: The atmosphere, very good service, reasonable prices. Cons: Can't think of any. more

Worst food in any upscale Manhattan diner - cold, tasteless, waitresses always upset. Try La Bonbonierre 1/7/2009

I wish there was a half-star option. I'm always stumped when I see this place full of patrons. The Bus Stop serves - without a doubt- the worst food in the Village. Maybe even in the city. Always cold, always tasteless, I guess it's the location that keeps it going? How is it possible that people continue to eat here? It looks so sweet and inviting from the outside, yet the food is horrible and the waitresses are visibly overwhelmed, and are usually upset and angry. And the FOOD?! Always served cold, the pancakes taste like they were made with joint compound, the eggs come damp and chilly, the English muffins are cold and rock-hard and you have to BEG repeatedly for milk or butter or Tabasco sauce..even when the place isn't hopping. I don't get it. Ate here recently, I guess because I'd forgotten how bad it was. Now I remember. If you're looking for a great, hot, fresh breakfast that's cheap, try La Bonbonierre (sic) on 8th Avenue, just a couple of blocks away. What the Bus Stop can only dream of being. Pros: very pretty Cons: hideous, cold food. How can you screw up eggs and toast? They do every time. more

Great Brunch! 12/8/2008

Awesome brunch and great service make Bus Stop a great place to visit. The staff are great and my eggs are always cooked to perfection. Enjoy sitting outside in nice weather and drink your day away while enjoying excellent food. A great place for kids and large groups as well. Pros: Great food more

Everything I get here is great: egg muffin sandwich, breakfast bagel, buffalo wings, cappucino, OJ, panini, grilled chicken sandwich, wraps ... generous portions, full fillet of chicken in each one. French fries are the only thing holding me back - i prefer skinny french fires, these are medium cut and have a sort of coating on them (maybe seasoned coating?) which i'm just not into but aside from that it hits the spot. more

Worst place to eat in the west village 7/12/2007

Bland, overpriced food and terrible service make this a place to avoid in a neighborhood filled with great places to eat. My friend ordered a pasta dish for $14.00 that tasted like it came from a can. I ordered the eggplant panini which was so flavorless I didn't even finish half of it. I thought I was eating cardboard. My iced tea tasted like sewer water. Cash only policy had us both running to the ATM during dinner. On top all that my friend felt sick afterwards. Pros: good location Cons: bad food and service more

Great ""Stop"" in the West Village! 10/22/2006

My friends and I had a great brunch last weekend at Bus Stop, which is aptly named since it is on the corner of an actual bus stop. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. Their omelets are great and the coffe was hot and delicious! They've got a very large menu! Even though it's getting a bit cold, dining outside at this place is a must! Definitely recommended! Pros: Food, Service, Outdoors Cons: none except for the occasional passing bus more

Could be so much more 7/2/2005

The setting is perfect with the outdoor seating & the quaint cozy spot right on that great turn to Bethune Street. However the food is so blah & boring, I do recognize it's a diner, but I could have made this stuff.....my ""linguini bolognase"" was very very thick spaghetti with hamburger meat. It was disappointing. Plus cash only, isn't the most convienent and the wait staff could be better informed & quicker. This place has so much potential that it is not exploiting. Pros: Neighborhood, Outdoor Dining Cons: Food, Staff more

The Best Diner in GV 6/1/2004

I love this place for breakfast. Go early and sit in a big booth and order anything from pancakes to omelettes. In the summer, the outdoor seating works too. For the price and location, this is really a great pick. Pros: food, service, price more

Dont pass the Bus Stop! 9/23/2002

The Bus Stop is an excellent place for some one on a budget in NYC. A friend and I recently visited NY and on the recommendation of a pal we ate at the Bus Stop for breakfast - we wound up eating there every day for breakfast! The service was excellent, the food delicious, lovely neighborhood atmosphere, and very reasonable prices. Highly recomended. Pros: great food, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere more

Standard Diner 5/20/2002

Comfort food means starch to me and there's no shortage of potatoes on this menu. But while eggs and hashbrowns or meatloaf and mashed are served in a straightforward, no-nonsense fashion, the big surprise at Bus Stop is the salad selection. Forsaking iceburg lettuce with the requisite tomato slices and a handful of crotons, this neighborhood diner has a number of options when it comes to getting your daily greens. The Happy Waitress Salad loaded as it is with beets and bacon is my favorite. Outdoor seating make this a nice place to hit when the weather is right; if it's really hot out take a seat next to the windows--they open onto the street and you'll get a nice view from shaded confines. more

reliable lunch spot 5/17/2002

I dig the big Greek salads. This place has a diner-y atmosphere, but the outdoor seating makes it feel a little more special. more
