I actually had my friends come down to black finn for my bday it was soooooo much fun and everyone had an awesome time...the staff was great! Def recommend this bar....I actually went to turtle bay right after and it was the worst decision I ever made. Pros: service is great! Great atmosphere what a bar should be like more

Go there a lot with co-workers/friends after work to start the night. People have to realize not to go to these places for the night. Just start it off. I am not a fan of midtown bars, but I came here for a birthday party last Spring and my girlfriends and I have been hooked ever since. First of all, if you're on a budget, this bar has the best drink specials ever! Our favorite nights to go are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays-Saturday nights are fun too though. The DJ on Thursdays is AMAZING! Every time I go there I ask him the titles of the songs he plays bc it's such good music that you don't normally hear. I'm not into sports, but my boyfriend is and we started going on Sundays together for game specials/beer pong/great food! Also, if you don't like bar food I recommend their salads or Ahi Tuna :) Pros: BEST BAR SPECIALS HANDS DOWN! more

I went to Black Finn once and I took advantage of the $20 All You Can Drink Special. However, when I got my drink, it was weak. :( As you can see, I am not the first to post this. \r \r I will vist them again and hope that the drinks are made better the next time. Update to follow. If you haven't gotten the chance to visit this gem of an establishment you're missing out. Some girlfriends and I had visited this bar last weekend and took advantage of their all you can drink special. Our open bar's lasted for three house and was only $30. The service was quick and friendly so we certainly got our moneys worth. As for the crowd, I haven't seen so many good looking people in the confines of one bar! Mint! this has got to be one of the better locations located in the heart of the city. i love the $20 open bar, and i definitely get my money worth. the place is usually packed so dont expect a lot of table service. sadly, the open bar is only for beers and house alcohol. four stars! Not sure why this place got some negative reviews. A friend of mine guest bartended here a few weeks a go. The staff was very nice. Not one time did we get ""alcohol free drinks"". Staff bought us shots for a birthday and the music was good all night . lots of dancing which was great!! Place got crowded but everyone was in good spirits. Lots of college kids but we all just graduated from NYU and didn't feel out of place. We were actually hanging out with a 30th birthday party who were more drunk then we were! I guess this place isn't awful, but it isn't great either. It gets really crowded, but it's nice if you have one of the booths to sit at. Lots of kids fresh out of college getting wasted. Which can be fun, but they can also get on your nerves pretty quickly. more

I was at BlackFinn for happy hour with about 15 girlfriends and all had a really nice time. The bartenders were super friendly! The music was a lot of fun too. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good happy hour in the area. I'm giving 5 stars even though the bathroom lines did get a little long. The evening was one of the best! Went here 2 Fridays ago with some friends for a girlfriends party. Ended up staying all night. DJ was great, played great music, had funny comments all night. Bartenders were fun. The bartender May was sweet, bought us shots and served us fast, did a 2 hour open bar for $20 and then a 3 hour open bar for $30. Was expecting a good time but had more fun than we expected. I went there last night with friends from school. My friend told the girl at the door we were on a list; the girl asked our names because were were not allowed to purchase open bar unless we have the names. My friend stated he never did this when he went there before; the girl made him speak to a bartender---the bartender made him go back to the girl at the door. After 20 minutes, the girl barely apologized and told him that she thought he was trying to get me (and my friend) free open bar. My friend and I had our money out! How oblivious! The bartenders sucked too----very obnoxious and ignored my requests for drinks (except for the men). I will NEVER go to there again! PS: The drinks were VERY watery! I went there with my girlfriend and two of her friends from her college days (one male, and the other female, but not a couple). I'll call the guy J.S. and the girl A.T. to make my life easier. So, J.S. and I decide that we want to purchase one 'open bar' wrist band each. When we walked in the place, they told us that, for 25 bucks from 9pm to 12pm, or for 30 bucks from 10pm to 1am, we could purchase an 'open bar' wrist band that would allow us to get get free drinks during those time periods (even though technically it's more like PRE-PAID). J.S. purchased one for 30 bucks and I purchased on for 30 bucks. J.S. decides to go up and get two drinks... one for him, and one A.T. When he walks back to the table, one of the bar tenders tells me that J.S. broke the rules by getting a drink for someone without a wrist band. ONCE THIS IS EXPLAINED TO US, WE HAVE A.T. PAY FOR THE DRINK, AND AT THAT POINT, THE ISSUE WAS DEAD... OR SO WE THOUGHT.\r \r An hour later, a bouncer taps me on the shoulder, and says ""management is upset that you guys are handing off drinks. Now we already warned you once. Don't let me have to warn you again."" Here's the deal though, he said this because I was sharing one of my drinks with my girlfriend WHO ONLY WANTED A SIP OF MY DRINK BECAUSE SHE IS NOT BIG ON DRINKING. According to the bouncer, she would have to pay 7 dollars (the cost of the drink) in order to SHARE my drink. WTF? Now, had I not purchased that expensive wrist band, I would have naturally shared my drink with my girlfriend ANYWAY, so what's the big deal?\r \r To sum up the rest: The music was inconsistent, the bartenders were rude, the bouncers were mis-informed, and management obviously had their eyes only on our table the whole time because the table next to ours (THE REAL CULPRITS) were handing off drinks all night long.\r \r I give this place an F-.\r \r I'll never go there again.\r \r Don't waste your time. If you are looking for a fun atmosphere the Black Finn is the bar for you. I have been to the Black Finn for Happy Hour and also for a private party and both were an awesome time. The service was the best and the bartenders were very attractive as well as attentive. If you are looking for a bar that is a blast, great drink prices, and excellent service and you happen to be in Mid-town Manhattan, The Black Finn is def. the way to go.\r Pros: great service and drink prices Cons: parking but who drinks and drives? more

I've been to BlackFinn a few times and it never fails for a good time. The bouncers are a little strict at the door but they dont let jerks in, and are quick to kick them out.\r \r If you're looking for a place that you don't need to get dressed up for, wait on lines and spend hundreds of dollars on bottle service, this is it. The crowd is just a fun , good looking crowd having a good time, the drinks arent too expensive, the bartenders are fun and the music keeps you dancing all night. My friends and I have come here for 2 private parties and both times, we've all had a great time. If you're looking for a good night out at a bar and not a club, BlackFinn is just the place. Perhaps I only saw the obnoxious, horrible crowd of the weekend but this place is unfortunate. The lowest level of a bar without getting into the dive category. The bartenders constantly screw up drink orders (6 times to be exact), the bouncers think the place is Bungalow 8, and the crowd is dirty and gross. I had a man follow me around the place the entire night. If you enjoy the good old college bar night (this place is filled with men who still think they're in their fraternities) with the desperate girls looking for some easy attention, this place is for you. If you prefer a good time with a good crowd and awesome service, like I do, then STAY AWAY!! Ive been to all the bars in the mid town area since I work in the area and BlackFinn is by far the best one. The music is great. Happy Hour is a very yuppie crowd (I am a yuppy on Thursdays though) but Saturday nights are great. The girls are good looking too. I've been to a few parties here, some in the vip space which is nice and comfortable. People dance, drink and just have a good time. The drinks aren't expensive either so overall this is a fun place to get drunk and have a good time. Pros: nice staff, not expensive, good music Cons: gets crowded and hot more

Went there for the first time this weekend for my friends birthday. Place got really crowded but there were a lot of good looking girls. We didnt reserve any space but the birthday girl wore a crown, so she got taken care of by the coordinator who set up our open bar. The drink specials are great and affordable considering the area. The music was going all night and eventually everyone was dancing. Crowd was pretty down to earth except for a few frat boys here and there but the girls in the crowd and working there more then made up for it.\r Going back with my boys next weekend.
