Do not recommend! VERY UNHAPPY. Whenever I read bad reviews, I always wonder why people go through the trouble of posting them. I now have a reason to do so, unfortunately, and am sharing so YOU will have a full picture of this particular office/dermatologist.\r \r I read reviews on Dr. Hellman and thought she would be a great dermatologist to visit for a problem I was experiencing. I went to visit her and she diagnosed me with a condition and prescribed an ointment/lotion. During my follow up visit, I told her that I researched the condition that she diagnosed me with and that my rash didn't match it...at all.... so I stopped using the prescribed medicine. The rash went away on its own in time for my follow up visit, but I took pictures to show her.\r \r I then allowed her to inspect the area. While inspecting my skin (and possibly in an effort to make up for the previous diagnosis), she asked about the products I used for some light acne she was seeing. I told her what I used. She then gave me some free product samples to take home for acne. I left the office and was told that my insurance covered everything, and that there was no copayment.\r \r A few months later, I received a bill in the mail for about $200, for services including an ACNE BIOPSY and SURGERY for my follow up visit. Of course, I was highly confused, as not only did I not have a biopsy/surgery, Dr. Hellman didn't even TOUCH me during my second visit. So when did this biopsy/surgery happen??????\r \r I called the office and was told, ""No worries. That was probably a mistake from our old billing system. Don't worry about it."" I received an updated bill later, which was lowered to about $50, but not itemized. So, I called the office for clarity. The receptionist stated ""This is a deductible for the acne biopsy you received."" I laugh and again explain that this must be a mistake. I didn't have a biopsy. The front desk staff member stated again ""No worries. I'll look into this.""\r \r It is now a YEAR later, and not only am I still receiving bills, I received a ""final notice"", charging me for services that I did not have. I've consulted my attorney about this, and determining if I will be filing a dispute. I have been on the phone with the billing staff and front office staff all week, and what have they stated, ""The doctor's notes are stating that you did not have biopsy, but you had surgery."" Not sure when this mystery surgery happened as she literally did not TOUCH me, only inspected my skin with her eyes. \r \r Dr. Hellman is still trying to charge me for services I did NOT receive. The price is not the issue, but the fact that Dr. Hellman is continuing to state that she gives me services that I did NOT have is a MAJOR issue. It shouldn't have been a surprise, after I was diagnosed with a condition that I did NOT have. It's my word against hers, I'm being told, and she's not budging. Are you kidding me? It's so silly and honestly absolutely ridiculous. What kind of professional can't own up to their mistakes?\r \r It's shame because I really (thought) I had a great experience at Dr. Hellman's office. I will NEVER return. I haven't ever had a bad experience with a physician, and I always pay my copayments and deductibles, but of course it's for services that I've actually had. \r \r Please do yourself a favor and visit another dermatologist. The day's of patient oriented TLC are back! Dr Hellman's hands on attention and eye for perfection are right on target. Your experience will begin by entering a light and airy office with a spectacular view of central park and you will be seen not by a associate, but by Dr Hellman herself, ""The Dermatologist with a sense of humor and a heart of gold"". No high pressured sales or snake oil remedies here, only a honest and practical diagnosis for your skin care concerns. Expect a traffic stopping complexion, a great product line and a boost in your self-esteem......Way to go Dr Hellman! more

Great office, friendly and professional staff. Great location. I have been a patient for years, and have always been pleased with the results. Dr. Hellman is experienced, friendly and approachable. If you are looking for laser hair removal, this is the place to go. In addition, I had a thyroidectomy, which left me with a horrible scar. Dr. Hellman was the first person I thought of when I decided to do something about it. After a few visits, the scar had lost it's raised appearance and much of the discoloration. I highly recommend Dr. Hellman. Give her a chance, you won't regret it! more

This is a fantastic office!!! I love Judith Hellman. I live in Los Angeles and wish that I had a dermatologist like her on the west coast. I was in the city for a few days and went to see her about a breakout I've been dealing with. She is incredibly gifted, she listens and always gives me options as to different treatments. I highly recommend Dr. Hellman and her entire staff. The new office is also beautiful!!! more

Dr. Hellman is the rare dermatologist who takes the necessary time to accomplish what your appointment requires. You are not just a number . more

I like her personality but the constant long waits are frustrating. Expect to wait about an hour and calling just before you leave work to see if she's running on time does no good - you are always told that things are running on time, then you get there and have to wait forever. After 6 months I gave up on calling. There is never an recognation/apology to the patient of your long wait- actually when you go into the ""other"" room you have to wait again for machines to warm up, etc. - bring a book is my advice & hope you don't get in trouble at work for being gone 2 hrs!!! more

I am a patient of Dr Hellman's for over 10 years now. She is one of the best doctors I have dealt with and believe me I know lots of doctors! I love her sense of humor, great personality and passion for what she does. The way she does my lips augmentation is unbelievable, the look is natural! She is a true professional. All her staff members over the years were very pleasant really helpful. I definitely recommend her for any cosmetic or medical procedure that anybody may need! more

Dr Judy has a great line of original products. Her knowledge of her profession as well as the effort she has made to produce her skin care products is a very reassuring factor when I went to see her. I know when I go to get treated by her I will leave looking great! more

An excellent Dermatologist with a very convenient location in NYC, Dr. Hellman is an experienced professional who really cares about her patients. Her new office is state of the art and comfortable. Her office manager is courteous and organized and helped me get in and out of my appointment in a timely manner. Thanks Doc! more

She was very knoweldgabel and friendly. I have found many medical practitioners to be condescending and entitled. This is NOT Dr. Hellman, she is very friendly and open and since I know something about my own skin care she loves to get feedback! more

I loved the office atmosphere, the staff was very professional, helpful and polite. I just moved to NY and had to change my dermatologist. I had tried another doctor and I needed a second opinion. Dr Hellman is a very professional, knowledgeable and carrying person, so I was fascinated by her right away. I am definitely going back for my semi-annual check ups and maybe for a laser hair removal procedure. Strongly recommended!!! more

On two separate occasions I had to wait at least an hour and a half from my specified appointment time. The first appointment was late in the day, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and scheduled another one at an earlier time. No luck though, I had to wait just as long. The other patients were visibly frustrated as well. Not worth the wait. more

My appointment was at 3:45pm with Dr. Hellman on 7/27. I called at 3pm to see if she was available earlier by chance and her office assistant told me rudely, ?No, she has other patients, you can?t just come in earlier.? Then, I asked if she was running on-time so I wouldn?t have to be away from work waiting and was told ?Yes, she?s on time.? VERY long story short, while in the very stuffy, tiny foyer area, the 3 other patients and I discussed how ?Dr. Hellman is ALWAYS late by at LEAST an hour? and the office person had ?a piss-poor patronizing attitude - or was vapid.? Or both. I asked the vapid/rude assistant how long it would be and she said, ?15 more minutes.? This was after waiting 35 minutes already. I noted that there were 3 people in front of me so how could that be - and she just smiled and me and walked away. 25 minutes later and two people still in the waiting room, I politely (as always) asked again, ?How much longer?? and she completely ignored me again and walked away. So I left. I was there for nearly an hour with NO end in sight. Anyone who would like to completely waste their time, sweat in a shoebox and be treated like a piece of trash should book an ?appointment? with Dr. Judith Hellman. I?m not sure if she?s a decent Dr. or not, but if the lobby, lack of organization and employees are a reflection of the owner, run like hell.
