Great location! 11/9/2008

This hotel was very welcoming, glass of champagne in check-in was nice welcome. Room was small but they had paid attention to detail to make customers stay enjoyable - massaging chair was great, thick bathrobe, Aveda toiletries, newspaper even on Sundays. Food is expensive but there are great restaurants almost accross the street. Location is wonderful. Pros: location, massaging chair Cons: expensive parking more

Thorns and Roses of the Shoreham from an average guy. 10/7/2008

The Roses - We stayed in a Queen deluxe. I chose this hotel as part of a package deal from Travelocity. It is listed as a luxury hotel and is a great hotel if you are spending a few days as a tourist. The hotel has recently been remodeled and is in great condition. Located on W 55th makes it a short walk to to everything midtown, Central Park and Broadway. Plus it's close to MOMA, The Rock, and the main Subway lines (53rd and 5th E line) that lead through the heart of Manhattan. There is a variety of restaurants on W 55th from extravagant to quick). We stayed in the East wing ( the right side of the building facing the front) and the room was nice. The shower was great with great water pressure, but don't turn it all the way up or it won't drain fast enough. Aveda products are nice too. Free tea, coffee, cappuccino, espresso are nice on your way out in the mornings or at night. Bellhop was helpful and the front desk staff was nice and helpful. more

USED to be great. 2/25/2008

I don't know what happened. This used to be a great boutique hotel. They used to upgrade me all the time. I remember at the hight of this they put me in a penthouse sweet. Then the next stay it was as if they had forgot their regular cliental. The air-conditioning was broken they tried to fix it a few times and got nowhere. Did they offer me another room? NO. There was a package that I asked to be delivered three times nothing. It WILL be the last time I stay. Something changed must be in the management. Pros: Great locations and nice rooms. Cons: Service is amateur at best. more

Bad service/theft problem 4/26/2007

Great location, OK Hotel 6/5/2006

The Shoreham is located in a great spot if you are visiting NYC. They are a bit overpriced for what you get, but the desk staff was friendly enough when we checked in. (Keep in mind the pictures on the site make your room look bigger than it is.) And the included breakfast is not much, my husband had to eat somewhere afterwards and the staff in the restaurant was short-handed so we got very little svc. Pros: Location Cons: Overpriced, Avg Breakfast more

Horrible experience 5/18/2006

My wife and I booked a spa-tacular getaway package at the Shoreham Hotel for Mother's Day weekend. Despite the fact that this package included guaranteed 12 noon check-in, the desk clerk informed us that our room would not be ready until at least 3pm. That didn't work especially well with the spa treatments that we'd booked to begin at 3pm and threw the entire day's schedule into disarray. Clearly the Shoreham staff didn't especially care and viewed the situation as our problem, not theirs. Their solutions (we could hang out in the lobby, we could have a worse room than the one we booked) were pathetic. In the end, we chose to cut our losses and leave. Not sure what Shoreham management thinks guaranteed means. On behalf of my wife, thanks for a great Mother's Day Shoreham! more

Nice little place in Midtown 12/26/2005

My wife and I stayed at the Shoreham for a NYC weekend getaway. The hotel was small and older, but was nice. We were upgraded to a newly renovated luxury suite. The room was large by NYC standards, with a seating area and a sleeping area, but there was no view. The room was equipped with two plasma TVs, but they were only hooked up to antenna service and the reception was poor. But we did not pay $500/night to watch TV anyway. The hotel had a very cool shower with 5 showerheads squirting from all directions and a tub/spa. The shampoo was Aveda brand, which I never heard of, but my wife was impressed. But the best thing was the complimentary cappuccino bar. Pros: complimentary cappucc, the 5 headed shower, plasma TV Cons: no view, no parking more

A great find in mid-town! 5/31/2005

What a great find! Reasonable prices, great location, clean, modern rooms that are very comfortable, and self-serve lattes in the lobby. Bathroom was spacious and comfortable, and the complimentary Aveda products were an extra perk. Loved my stay at the Shoreham - I would recommend this hotel. Pros: Cool, modern look, Great location , Great value more

BLACKOUT 2003 8/19/2003

I wanted to write this to let everyone know how much I, and others appreciated the kindness from the entire Shoreham staff. I was booked already in the hotel and checked out the day of the blackout. When the airports were closed for obvious reasons. I headed back to the only place I knew, the Shoreham. They had my original room for me along with many others that seemed to have done exactly what I did. A personal escort was conducted along with giving out candles so that the guests were not without light. I even witnessed the the hotel employees setting up food for the guests complimentary. I have to say that while faced with a disaster, The Shoreham really pulled through. Each time I come to New York this is always the hotel I choose, and this will continue to be the hotel of choice. Pros: STAFF, AMENITIES, DEDICATION more

Memorable Stay 8/11/2003

I attended a convention in New York and brought my family along. We had such an outstanding time in New York despite the rainy weather. The Shoreham staff is to commended for their attention to detail and always making my family and I feel so comfortable. Nice touches in the room of suede walls and great bath amenities (Aveda) My daughter was so impressed. We were so centrally located to all the fine shops in the area. The beds are to die for. Pros: beds, staff, amenities Cons: parking more

Friendly 7/30/2003

Friendly staff is what my husband and I encountered from the beginning to the end. My husband and I had not traveled to New York in almost 15 years. New York has changed and the Shoreham hotel has definatley contributed to that. Staff are so friendly. The room was charming and very clean. I remember one in particular, Ivonna! Keep up the great work Shoreham... Pros: staff, amenities, food more

Great Stay in Store 6/25/2003

I was here a month ago and met with the General Manager. He is quite nice and very friendly. The same as the people in the hotel. Much better than the Muse where I used to stay. Pros: Great Style, Nice lobby, Friendly Staff more

Not Quite 5/3/2003

This hotel missed on several points. Appears lite on staff, which slows any interaction. Wake-up call was missed, videos are old and not organized for an easy find. Received no help from the one bellman on. Late night in the lobby I walked through to the closed restaurant, without seeing anyone, which maked security suspect also. Pros: rate Cons: warmth more

Fabulous 2/18/2003

What a weekend! We booked a room under the valentine package at the Shoreham. It was fabulous. First your made to feel welcomed as soon as you arrive. We come back to our room in the evening with rose pedals around the room, champagne on ice and chocalate covered strawberries. Breakfast the next day in bed was iceing on the cake. We have found our new hotel in New York. Fabulous! Pros: staff, amenities, cleanliness more

Refreshing 1/10/2003

What a friendly hotel. I was amazed and how refreshing it is to stay at a hotel where you dont have to feel intimidated to walk around the lobby. The staff knows your name and is always asking if there is anything they can do for you. I love the champagne they serve you in the afternoon. I found my home away from home. Pros: refreshing, beds, friendly more

Wonderful 12/22/2002

My girlfirend and I stayed at the Shoreham and had a wonderful stay. We are young adults who sometimes don't receive the same respect as other guests, but this was not true for he Shoreham staff. The staff was very respectful, genuine, and thoughtful to our needs while we stayed at the hotel. We had an absolutley wonderful trip to New York and in large part due to the accomodations. The room was extremely clean and well maintained during our stay. The lounge was extremely hot. What an exciting spot to have a drink before you go out for the evening. We look forward to the retunr to New York and will definatley recommend this hotel to our freinds. Pros: Amenities, Aveda, Wonderful more
