Got pulled out of class today to go right up to Nacho Mamas to start working! They have the best job placement at Authentic, and this proves it. And I'm a member of Authentic for life now, with free refresher programs, repeat job placement, and TIPS renewal, all free! And when they say for life, they have been around for thirty something years. Their not going anywhere. Don't get ripped off by all the imitators. Authentic is the BEST Pros: didn't tell me how great they are. Just delivered. more

the best in town! five stars! A-plus 12/15/2006

this is the only school I saw with a real job placement department, and they had the best rep and atmosphere. How can anyone go somewhere else for more $$ with whats out there? One place I saw asked for my credit card before I even settled into the chair, and another place had a free demonstration full of ringers. where they tried to sell me a fifteen-dollar mixing set for a hundred bucks!! Another school had exactly one employee doing everything in the school, teaching, answering phones, signing up people, all at once, and it was dirty too. So I came here and its great. They have a lot of bar contacts and I had the time of my life waiting on real customers a couple nights a week with my fellow students. I didn't even graduate yet and I already worked a wedding reception and a gallery opening for great $$ thanks to the job placement staff. And the classes and the drills are fun and effective. Best choice out there!!! Pros: professional & straight forward Cons: no cons more

the one that the bar business people reccommend 11/28/2006

I came to Authentic after dropping the different schools names at bars and clubs. All the managers and bartenders had great things to say about them, not so with the other schools. A lot of the bartenders were Authentic grads! Pros: No hype, just good word -of -mouth more

best choice available 11/22/2006

I went to all the NY schools to compare, and I called the state education department. If you do the same and compare how you are treated when you visit, and look at the sample classes and compare the job placement services and the prices and the reputations and all the programs that all the different schools offer, there's only one selection that makes any sense: AUTHENTIC. After picking them and going through their program, I can say that their name is earned. Theirs is the only school that is going to do for you what they say they are going to do. They did for me! They are the BEST! Everyone out in the industry was right. Pros: Professional presentation stood out from the rest more

Dave is mad funny! 11/18/2006

his class is like a comedy show, and you learn more about bars in one night then anyplace else! Check it out Pros: fun classes and you learn alot more

they keep their promise 11/17/2006

I went to their school in Philly 2 yrs ago. I moved to New York ithis fall, and Authentic helped me get a job here! I love these people, they helped me in both cities. They didn't forget me! Pros: you can count on them Cons: don't have any more

THIS is the best bartending schoool in New York 11/17/2006

I visited all the ones I could find. One of the other schools had a teacher that some of my friends reccommended a few years ago. He's at Authentic now. Thatt sealed my decision, but I was going to pick them anyway. They had the best word-of-mouth from all the bartenders I know. They charge much less $$ than the others, and they have on-the-job training(not "guest bartending " at empty dives where anybody can walk in and do it). You come out with real new york experience at happening bars that look impressive on your resume. And you find work fast! I'm at Chill lounge now. Thank you, Dave, Troy, and Karen! Pros: reputation. staff. price. more

experts in the field! 11/16/2006

what a pleasure to deal with people who really know what they're doing! Everyone who works at Authentic is a real bartender, from the teachers to the job placement people to the office staff! They run a classy, professional, "insider's" program, and their course was a blast and their job placement is real! They are honest and helpful, and reasonably priced, too. I made my tuition back in less than a week of work Pros: knowledgeable staff, job placement dept. Cons: nothing more

Would take the course again, and again, just for the fun of it!!! 11/14/2006

I absolutely LOVED coming to Authentic Bartending every night, after a long day of work!! It was the best part of my day. I looked forward to every class. The instructors were awesome. One by one. There was one I wasn't too crazy about, but this person only taught one class... :-) The classes were fun, and intense. They supplied all the needed information and more. I completed my course in 2 weeks, and passed the written and pouring test within the month. They continually work with you, to study, to practice, they answer all and any of your questions, no matter how annoying you think you are, or how stupid you think your question is. They support you all the way. The manager is the best!!! They all go out of their way for you. They help to place you after you've graduated. I am still in close contact today with a few class memebers and some personnel in Authentic. They've all really touched my life personally, and I LOVE BARTENDING today!!! Authentic was the best priced when I searched around, they have the best location in the city, very easy to get too from all around. They offer continuing support. You can always retake the course as much as you need, and you can test until you pass! I just don't have a bad word to say. Authentic is the best! I've recommended to all my friends, and now there are 2 more great bartenders out there thanks to Authentic, plus me of course! :-) Pros: Great Location. Ongoing Support. Job Placement. Cons: NONE! Except for that one instructor... :-) more

BLEW AWAY THE COMPETITION 10/24/2006

Nothing to discuss. this is the best school and it's not even close. Why waste time with the amateurs or the dinosaurs? Authentic has the most experience, best price, most jobs, and BEST instructors(I'll put the two Daves up against ANYBODY teaching ANYTHING in NYC)...thanks for everything, Authentic, especially the two private parties you booked for me BEFORE I even graduated, and my new gig at a cool lounge in midtown....take my advice, folks. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Pros: fast job placement, on-the job-training, $$ Cons: none. more

Thank you...thank you...thank you 10/22/2006

I took the classes at your bartending school in New York City from 2 - 6. I just passed my test last Friday, and wanted to thank you all so very much for such a great experience. I actually had my first job interview on Sunday and you guys couldn't have been any better prepping me. I felt totally confident and comfortable going in and talking to the manager. At first he was kind of put off that I didn't have too much experience, so I told him to test me. He told me to go behind the bar and make a Long Island Iced Tea. He was pleasantly surprised because I knew what I was doing. He said that I was holding the bottle right, my counts were great, and more important, he said it tasted perfect! He told me to come in and start training on Wednesday! Then he asked if I was TIPS Certified, and I told him I was signed up to take it through you guys this Thursday. I never could have done it without you! Thank you to all my instructors! Pros: Instructors made me feel super comfortable the entire time! Cons: None. I loved the whole experience! more

Excellent! 10/21/2006

Bar school is a competitive industry; there are a lot of bar schools, and they make a lot of claims. This is the best deal I found. Totally legit. And they have some of the best instructers I have ever had for any subject, and I am a graduate of Stanford University. Great fun, and I met a lot of people. And they provided me with a steady run of catering jobs all summer, before I left to travel back across the country. My TIPS card has been recognized and honored in SF and LA, where I have since had bartending gigs, and Authentic even helped me with job leads in those cities! I endorse them without hesitation! Pros: hands-on, practical instruction, experienced staff Cons: nothing. Everything was first-rate more

great people. great value. great school. 10/20/2006

Checked them out with the ny state dept. of education. Their record is clean and their license is in good standing. They gave me everything I needed and their price was the best of any of the schools I compared. And their teacher David Gonzales was experienced, fun, and smart. And he hired me for his bar. The whole staff is super helpful. Pros: trains you out in the field. introduces you to managers Cons: nothing more

lots of fun & great investment! 10/20/2006

I had a great time! I learned so much and everyone was so nice and helpful! Bartending is a great way to make $$$$$$. These people really know their stuff and get you ready to work Pros: job service, "bar nights", price Cons: ------ more

Awesome school...! 10/19/2006

I graduated from the Authentic Bartending School, and I am more pleased tham I ever thought I would be!! My boyfriend went through the class also and talked me into taking it. The classes are fun, the instructors are so chill...but memorizing the drinks was kind of hard, at least I had a great tutor! Once I graduated someone sat down with me and helped me write a resume , than took me over and introduced me to the Job Placement Counselor who would call me daily and let me know of all these jobs available. She also got me a private party gig in Long Island where I worked as a bartender for a famous person in the Hamptons! (She tipped me sooooo much)! I was working with my boyfriend at Latitude in NYC, but quit because working with him and living with was waaaaaaaay too hard, so I called job placement and she had me training at this awesome spot called Pertutti within the next week. I recommend this school because they are true to their word, not to mention a lot less money then the rest! I plan on sending my younger sister to the school for her 18th birthday! Pros: Everything was personalized just for me! Cons: Nothing I can think of! more

a wonderful school, and I looked at them all 10/19/2006

Authentic was so much fun! I wanted a Sunday-only class, and they were the only school that had one. And they were so nice, and open about everything, when I checked them out for the first time. It's like they know the're good, and they don't have to push you into going with them. And so affordable! As for the instructors, well, they have a large staff and they were all fabulous. They were entertaining and informative, all bartenders themselves, and gave you the straight story on things. I learned over 300 drinks, and everything about the business. BEST of all, part of the class was training behind real NY bars. I got to do it for real, and the next day in the classroom I knew just what I had to work on. I came out of Authentic with not just confidence, but experience too! And they wrote me a resume that had real NY credits and references on it from the practice nights, giving me a big advantage over other "beginners". But what I liked best about them was this: when the course was over, they weren't finished with me: they were just beginning. I met with a job counselor who had me right out on interviews, and sat down with me in person whenever I wanted, and guided me every step of the way. I got TIPS certified right on the school premises, for free. I got a job right away at Comfort Zone--their owner came to the school for a job fair, and gave me a tryout the next day, and hired me! And just like that, in three weeks, start to finish, I'm a bartender, having fun and making cash! Thank you to all my friends at Authentic, and to all of you out there: CHECK THEM OUT!! Pros: price, teachers, job placement Cons: absolutely nothing more

the only area school worth attending 10/19/2006

We only hire from Authentic. Their graduates are reliable, professional, well-skilled, and well-prepared. I tear up the resumes from the other schools; their students generally can't pour a glass of water. Authentic's graduates come to us having ALREADY had actual nyc experience, which is essential. Their management is obviously plugged into the current bar and restaurant scene. They teach up-to-date drinks and computer register systems. They are also TIPS certified, and I won't hire a bartender who isn't. Make sure the school you go to offers the TIPS program or it will be very hard for you to work in New York. And, if the school you are looking at is going to drop names of bars they place students at, CALL THOSE PLACES YOURSELF and make sure. Because I for one am tired of my name being used fraudulently. Again, I reccomend Authentic Bartending School ONLY. Pros: very fast, well-trained, bright graduates Cons: none more

most professional, most honest, best price, best course 10/16/2006

I went to some other schools to compare and went with Authentic because their price was the best(by a few hundred dollars, a lot when you are out of work)and their people were the most polite and helpful. I just read somebody saying you can't talk to students when you visit--that's garbage. They let me talk to anybody I wanted, as a matter of fact they encouraged it. Same with NY bar school, they were very nice. The only "trash-talking" I heard anyplace was from the guy at American who wanted 900 dollars and bitterly insulted the other schools, and practically chased me out to the elevator when I didn't sign. I work at LQ now, thanks to Authentic. Pros: job placement, practice bars, cost Cons: none. they were great more

prepared me at real bars 10/14/2006

I loved Authentic. Training in a classroom is one thing, but getting to practice at real area bars really gave me confidence. They wrote my bar resume for me, and sat down with me one-on-one to map out my job search. I'm working at "the yankee clipper", and I'm so greatful for evrything Authentic did for me Pros: gave everyone individual attention. Training at real bars Cons: none! more

Awesome!! You get to practice what you learn in busy bars before you even graduate 10/10/2006

I looked at all the schools and I'm happy I picked here because you get real experience at different bars while you are in the program. They have been around for the longest and they cost the least. And their not pushy and they really help you. I got hired at LQ right out of the class more
