Tim's been cutting my hair for years and everytime it looks exactly the way I want it to. Before I met Tim I was in the midst of that seemingly never-ending search for a stylist who would actually listen to what I wanted and then could actually do it. Sound familiar? I recently chopped off 11 inches of hair and Tim gave me the best haircut I've had in a long time! It was stunning and all of my friends and coworkers had nothing but praise for it. Not to mention I feel like a completely new person (which was just what I needed). He took his time, and explained everything along the way.We talked for a while too before he even let my hair be washed. We talked about my own style, my styling habits (good and bad!) and daily routines (I'm a school counselor and work out a lot and need hair I can tame for such events). Even though I was making a drastic change, Tim didn't rush a single thing. He didn't hide anything either and was honest about each facet of the cut. It was a great experience with a new stylist too (I moved back to New York a year ago and hadn't settled on a stylist yet). I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to recreate the look after washing my hair but he taught me everything perfectly! My students didn't recognize me at work the next day because they all thought I was ""a movie star!""...which is a high compliment coming from middle still sophisticated and classic. Tim is my new favorite person in the world, and I can not wait to go back to him! Not only that but the entire salon was filled with great people who made me feel very welcome and comfortable! Tim not only simply rocks, Tim is Tim, period. I have followed Tim around town for some years now, whenever I am in New York from Europe - all I can say is that it looks and feels right. Tim never asked me how I liked my hair cut, and I have been open to 'go with the flow' and open to know not to know - the result and the process were simply amazing outstanding, even though new and unfamiliar the very first time. Tim is a visionary with his craft and artistry - he simply saw a potential and made it a reality (and yes, we are talking about 'a haircut', indeed, but not just a regular haircut). \r \r You can resist to everything except temptation - so I challenge you - try to ask for Tim (if you can have him booked for you) and when you are ready for something fresh and consistently familiar, even though strangely novel and fresh. I have been getting my haircut by Tim Cadman at ARTE salon in Noho for almost a year now. When i made my first visit i had my apprehensions as my hair is and has always been fairly short. I cannot say enough about my experiences since that first cut. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating and Tim is a superbly talented and patient individual with a very much appreciated attention to detail. We luv Tim -- my husband and I have been his client for 4 years, we follow Tim everywhere he goes! His style is authentic, ecclectic and inventive! \r I had just had my haircut done by Tim Cadmen. First let me say that he suggested that I should take alot of the weight and bulkiness off. He took off at least 4 inches which made me a bit nervous but in the end, he was right because I have still been recieving many great compliments. On top of that, the hair cut is growing out well. When I moved to NYC over 6 years ago it took me 2 years (4 haircuts) in order to find a stylist that I would want to return to. I heard about Tim Cadman (who at that time worked for a salon other than Arte Salon -thankfully I was able to track him down and follow him to his new location) through word of mouth from a co-worker. When I heard that I would have to travel downtown (I am very much a mid-town/upper east side kind of girl) I braved the $10 cab ride and made the trip. I emerged a transformed woman. Tim cuts hair in a way that just works...that's really the only way that I can describe his technique. I have always emerged from the chair with a huge smile on my face. I would definitely recommend Tim to anybody looking for a life-long stylist (well as long as one can last in this crazy city that we call NY). more

I was uncomfortable paying this type of price for a haircut until a friend referred me to Timothy Cadman at Arte. The results shocked me as people actually continously complemented my hair afterwards, something that has never happened to me in the first 30 years of my life. First time visiting and I had a great experience. Nice glass of wine while my color was processing, which turned out perfectly thanks to Cristin. My hair stylist, HARUMI is really amazing. Her hair color and cut always turn out to be more than my expectation. I get a compliment from people on the street after my visit. She even manages my dark hair color to the most beautiful color palette. \r \r The salon offers the Kerastase product, which is the most gentle for the hair. The atmosphere is also relaxing and cheerful. I always recommend her to all my friends.\r \r It seems that they are opening with the special head massage section in the salon soon. I especially love having my hair cut by either Tim or Inge. Their cuts are precise...just perfect! (With my almost straight, thin, shiney hair, it makes a difference.) i was in town from los angeles and was sort of recommended to arte for a last minute haircut. i got a same day appointment which was great. got a pretty disintersted reception, pretty rude. amy cut my hair and she was amazing. she was very sweet and genuine and really focused on the cut. its the best cut ive had in ages without a lot of input from me. sadly, the experience was soured by the rude guy at the coutner who ""greeted"" me and checked me out. bummer. sorry i wasnt more important. more

I had just come back from England and I was in great need of a hair cut. I had this poofy frizzy hair that I desperatly needed to get cut. So I asked one of my friends who lives in NY, and they recommended Arte Salon. I checked it out on Saturday. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. I was offered an assortment of beverages. Then I was recomended to go to Joseph, the owner of Arte. He too was also very friendly and handsome. I dig the beard. He was very enjoyable and professional when cutting my hair. He also recommended the right products for my hair. After my hair cut, I was so impressed with the results. I now get alot of compliments. i heard about arte salon through naturallycurly(dot)com. i find it incredibly hard to find a stylist that really gets my curly hair. there were incredible reviews on that website for joseph, kimberly, and cristin. my experience with arte was great from the moment i picked up the phone to make an appointment. the person i spoke to really listened to me when i was explaining what i wanted. i would love to get a haircut from joseph, but my budget won't allow that. he thought that kimberly would be a good fit for me. \r \r when my friend and i stepped inside, i knew we had made a wise choice going there. i loved the wood floors, tall ceilings and nearly floor to ceiling mirrors at each stylist's station. it is so lovely that once you are shown to the waiting area that you are offered either water, wine, coffee or tea. i've never been offered wine at a salon before! (i just took water though... which was had a nice lemony taste).\r \r kimberly was fantastic. she gave me great tips about how to care for my curls properly. she has beautiful curls herself.. i felt like she really knew what she was talking about.\r \r danielle was my colorist, and i think she did a great job. however, the color is already starting to fade from my ends. i think that is more from about my porous ends than her ability as a stylist. the highlights she put in my hair are subtle and look very nice. i feel like it compliments the lovely layering that kimberly did with my hair.\r \r i hope to make it back to arte someday. i live in maryland, so i don't know when i will be able to go back... but i highly recommend this salon. my best friend (whose review you'll see below, jannon) also had a great experience. we both want to go back in a few months... just maybe. i'm saving up now!\r \r Pros: Wonderful ambience more

I can't believe how much happier I've been ever since I got my hair cut by Joseph this past Wed.\r \r I'm the type of person who always wears their hair back and only manages to splurge for a nice haircut every year and a half or so. In between decent cuts I drag myself to Supercuts every time my hair starts feeling too long for my habitual bun or ponytail. Awful, isn't it?\r \r But, I had such an amazing experience at Arte that I feel like I'm turning over a new hair-related leaf! I came across it by accident while I was looking up Aveda, and I was so impressed by the plethora of raving reviews that I immediately called to make an appointment. Since I so rarely go to nice salons it was even more important for me to really make my visit special and to feel like I could just sit back in my chair and have total trust in whoever was wielding the scissors.
