Best

I went to 21st A on a regular tuesday night out for beers after work and really liked it. I sat at the bar, tried one of their creative brews (watermelon wheat - refreshing) and e...

Worst

I live a block away from this place, so believe me, I wish it was better than it actually is. To be honest, the homebrew sucks. The ""ambience"" is fairly tolerable, so long as ...

Pricy brewpub by the ballpark 5/1/2006

Sigh. I really, really want to love 21A. It's fresh beer, perfectly acceptable food and only a block away... yet, there's something unsatisfying about it. It's not the beer. Overall, the house made beer is better than average... if a little pricy ($4.75 per pint)... and they offer cask ale once a week. It's not the food either - the asian-style ribs I had as a snack were actually quite good, though I didn't understand why they served them with field greens. It's also not the staff- the bartenders there are friendly, efficient and overall pleasant to be around. They also started to serve guest beers from local breweries like Drakes and Speakeasy - a real plus. I think that the problem is that everything just doesn't fit together properly. The bar is small, the restaurant space is industrial (but not in a chic sort of way), and you just don't know if they want to be a restaurant that serves its own beer or a bar that wants to serve food. There's nothing wrong about it, but there's something not quite right either. Don't get me wrong - I've met Nico (one of the owners) and watched this place for years, and I love having this place in the neighborhood. Even if it's not inviting... and the beer and food is expensive... and it closes earlier than I want on the weekends and... more

21st Amendment Brewery = Great Beer + Excellent Dessert!! 4/24/2006

the title speaks itself. This is a great place to hanging out after work. Great beers!! Don't underestimate their strongest beers, you might be knocked out after a few. While you are there, be sure to save some room for their excellment desserts. My personal favoriate is "Caramel Pot De Creme" more

Good food, good beer 3/12/2006

Some brewpubs are known for their great beer, others for their food….21st Amendment is the best of both worlds: great, hand-crafted beer and great food. Unique twists on traditional bar food fare abound, with signature soups salads, sandwiches and burgers. Favorite menu items include the sweet potato soup (made with blue cheese and topped with walnuts) and the seared tuna salad. As for the beer, it’s all good, but check for the seasonal selection (this summer’s brew was a light, surprisingly good, watermelon ale garnished with a slice watermelon.) The décor is lots of raw wood and large windows let in all that SF natural light. more

Great burger place 11/17/2005

This is a great place to go any time for a decent burger and a beer. Try the locally brewed beer - its really good. The fries are alo great. They have a great selection of salads but I recommend the burger if you're going. Unless its a game night you don't neede a reservation. Offers a great atmosphere and decor. The waitstaff are very helpful and friendly. more

I've loved this restaruant ever since it opened in 2000. They offer a variety of well-crafted beers brewed on site, along with a great menu of contemporary American food. Make sure to try their sweet-potato fries! more
