Right at the entrance of the famed Hotel Chelsea is another throwback to New York history - El Quijote. This restaurant is old-school style, with uniformed waiters serving up a medley of Spanish cuisine amidst the dimly lit, antiquated decor, lending an air of authenticity to the cuisine. The food is delicious and plentiful, ranging from chorizo appetizers to their wonderful Lobster Medallions (a "special" which offered everyday). One glass of their sangria will have you feeling buzzed straightaways. Overall, it's a good atmosphere for coming together with family and friends, as you're never rushed and can linger over your meal for hours.
A restaurant like this is a rarity in that it withstands the winds of time, being replaced by newer, sleeker models in the name of progress. I, for one, personally hope it continues to do so.
