Andrew's Coffee Shop is a perfectly ordinary, slightly old-fashioned diner. No surprises here, except for one. They have the best turkey club sandwhich I have ever, ever had in New York. Turkey is real meat, not processed sandwhich stuff. The bread is toasted just right and there's never too much or too little mayo. Really, the place to go if you're having that particular craving. more

Andrews Coffee Shop is a simple chain of coffee shops around the city, and I'm able to discern them a block away by their smell. Walk past the entrance to any one of these locations, and you can sniff out the grease from the kitchen. As a woman, this is a bit of a turn-off, but as a New Yorker, this does me proud that such an unpretentious, unapologetically stinky place can still thrive in the city today. The decor is simple with plenty of tables and booths to go around, and the food is standard diner menu. Nothing stellar, but always reliable, whether you're hungry for some eggs in the morning or a soup and sandwich for lunch. As there are two locations right by Penn Station, they guarantee a quick turnaround for commuters and travelers alike. In spite of these benefits, I still feel like taking a shower every time I leave this place. more
