I WAS EXTREMLY NERVOUS BECAUSE THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME. I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LIA SCHORR DAY SPA AND TAMY WAS THE ONE TO ATTEND TO ME. SHE WAS SO KIND AND UNDERSTOOD HOW I FELT IT BEING THAT I NEVER HAD A BRAZILIAN DONE. SHE DID AN AMAZING JOB. THE BEST PART IS THAT IT WAS PAINLESS. This winter was cold and harsh on my skin. I was extra dry, so the body scrub that i recieved was my savior, mix with essential oils on my body it felt great! It was just what i needed. more

THREE OF US BOUGHT TRAVEL ZOO VOUCHERS FOR FACIALS, PEDICURES, AND HOT STONE MASSAGES. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DEAL! WE ALL ARRIVED ON AN EARLY SATURDAY MORNING FROM LONG ISLAND, LEFT OUR HUSBAND AND KIDS BEHIND FOR THE DAY TO SPEND THE DAY WITH EACH OTHER IN THE CITY. A PART OF THIS DAY WAS THREE AND A HALF HOURS AT THE LIA SCHORR DAY SPA REDEEMING OUR TRAVEL ZOO VOUCHERS. WE DID NOT STOP LAUGHING, SOCIALIZING, AND MUNCHING ON THE FABULOUS REFRESHMENTS OFFERED IN THE SPA SUCH AS APRICOTS, APPLES, AND CANDY. THE OWNER WAS THERE TO GREET US WITH THE REST OF HER STAFF. THEY WERE ALL FULL OF ENERGY AND SMILES. THE HOT STONE MASSAGE WAS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED. IT LIFTED US UP IMMEDIATELY. THE PEDICURES WERE OVERLY DUE AND IT REALLY HELPED MY ACHING FEET. THE FACIAL WAS THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. THE PLACE HAS GREAT PEOPLE AND A GREAT OWNER. WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE MATERIALISTIC PHYICAL ASPECT OF THE SALON. IT IS CLEAN, PRESENTABLE, PROFESSIONAL, AND WARM. WE ALL DECIDED TO COME BACK AT LEAST 4 TIMES A YEAR SO WE STOCK UP ON MORE VOUCHERS AND HAVE A GIRLS DAY OUT AT THE LIA SCHORR DAY SPA. more

it was spa week so I decided to try this place. They had me wait 35 minutes past my appointment time, the place did not feel relaxing or tranquil with the owner Lia constantly marching back and forth, and the rooms were so dingy and small and I swaer there was a smell of mold that couldn't be masked. My massage itself was mediocre; I would never pay full price ($95) here. There are better spas in NYC. Even with a coupon, I would never come back here again. more

MY SON IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD AND I CAN TELL THAT IF I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE CARE OF HIS SKIN IMMEDIATELY HE WILL END UP WITH SKIN PROBLEMS BECAUSE I MYSELF AM A VICTIM OF TERRIBLE, SEVERE ACNE THAT WAS NEVER TREATED BY SKIN CARE EXPERTS. I WAS ONLY TREATED BY DERMATOLOGISTS AND VARIOUS MEDICATIONS. THERE ARE NOT MANY SALONS IN TOWN WHO REALLY LIKE TO TREAT YOUNG, TEENS. SO I SEARCHED THE INTERNET, CALLED UP THE LIA SCHORR DAY SPA. TO MY SURPRISE, LIA SCHORR HERSELF ANSWERED THE PHONE. WHEN SHE HEARD MY CONCERN, AND SHE IS A MOTHER HERSELF ALSO, SHE SUGGESTED TO BRING MY SON AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO ALLOW ONE OF THE BUSY FACIALISTS TO TAKE THE TIME TO ACCURATELY ANALYZE HIS SKIN. EUGENIA SUGGESTED NOT TO HAVE A FACIAL BUT TO USE THE MUD MASK A FEW TIMES A WEEK ON THE T-ZONE AREA. I WAS SO IMPRESSED HOW ACCOMMODATING THEY WERE AND MY SONS SKIN SHOWED AN IMPROVEMENT A FEW DAYS LATER. I WAS VERY PLEASED THE WAY ME AND MY SON WERE TREATED. THE HONESTY THERE IS PROFOUND. more

WELL WELL WELL. I COMPLETELY DISPUTE THE NON-SENSE. SOME PEOPLE ARE VERY PICKY, SPOILED, AND UNTOLERANT. I HAVE BEEN IN SOME OF THE TOP SPAS IN TOWN AND HAVE PAID A FORTUNE FOR UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE. THEY DIDN’T EVEN CLEAN MY BLACKHEADS AND WHITEHEADS AND I SUPPOSIDLY HAD A “GREAT PAMPERING FACIAL” AND THE FACIALIST IN THE TOP SALON DID NOT LEAVE MY SIDE FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF. WE HAD A GREAT CONVERSATION ABOUT BOTH OF OUR LIVES AND I FELT VERY RELAXED. THEY MASSAGED MY NECK, ARMS, HANDS, AND SHOULDERS FOR 30 MINUTES. ALL MY WHITEHEADS AND BLACKHEADS WERE UNFORTUNATELY STILL THERE. SO IN COMPARISON TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HEAR ABOUT THE LIA SCHORR DAY SPA, I STILL DECIDED TO GO THERE BECAUSE SHE HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE FOR OVER 30 YEARS. SO I WAS CURIOUS TO TEST THE WATERS. WHEN I FINALLY GOT AN APPOINTMENT AT THE LIA SCHORR DAY SPA, YES THE PLACE IS NOT COMPARABLE TO THE TOP SPAS WITH THEIR GLITZ AND GLAMOUR BUT NO ONE IN TOWN KNOWS HOW TO GIVE A GOOD EXTRACTION AND CLEAN OUT BLACKHEADS AND WHITEHEADS AND NOT LEAVE A MARK LIKE THE LIA SCHORR FACIALISTS. THEY REALLY KNOW THEIR CRAFT AND ARE VERY EDUCATED COMPARED TO MOST SPAS. ALLA AND EUGENIA ARE INCREDIBLE. I DO NOT NEED A FANCY AND PRETENTIOUS PLACE. THIS PLACE IS REAL, RIGHT TO THE POINT. THE PEOPLE ARE WONDERFUL AND EXPERIENCED. I THINK THAT ALL THE COMPLAINERS ARE ON THE WRONG FOCUS. I WILL ONLY GO TO LIA SCHORR BECAUSE THIS PLACE IS ALL ABOUT PROPER SKIN CARE AND GOOD SERVICE. AND FOR ALL THE COMPLAINERS AND WHINERS PLEASE GO TO ANOTHER SPA TO FULFILL YOUR DREAM OF ILLUSION OF FACIALS. It is unfair to see all these positive reviews about Lia Schorr Skin Care Spa. I know for a fact that they the majority are fake. Lia offers free massages and treatments to anyone that would write a positive review about it. I don't think that it is fair competition to "real" amazing Spas that really deserve a positive review. Go rate it for yourself but the Spa is outdated, dirty, noisy, and the poor esthetician are underspaid and overworked and don't follow basic rules of Sanitation. I saw one of them sticking her bare hands on the product before applying to client and not putting the lid back on. The same product is then used on everyone else. Gross! Lia is also rude with zero customer service and proper manners; you'll be lucky if she doesn't hang up on you when you call to make an appointment. I normally don't go out of my way to write any kind of reviews but this place deserves one. more

I thought about suing this place. Bottom line, for the first time in my life, after a pedicure--I got foot fungus! I have always been incredibly careful so nothing like this has ever happen before. This place is dirty and infected. Beware! more

WOW. If you are after a Spa feel I would most certainly NOT recommend the Lia Schorr Spa. From facilities to treatment the whole experience was awful! I would highly suggest not to waste money here. The Changing Room? Charmin Ultra? Shower Soap? Paper Towel Holder? You would be struggling if 5 people were waiting before you for the same service! The showers were awful, with hair stuck in the drains and not cleaned, and the wash basins were poorly maintained. The only treatment I would recommend is back massage (Karla or Kelly)- besides that everything is terrible. And perhaps a facial by the few pros, if they did it in normal spa world time - dont mind being alone, but not extra, time is precious and valuable. All in all - AVOID THIS SPA and book somewhere where you will enjoy the atmosphere from the moment you step in :) more

This is the best thing I have done for myself!!! If you are interested in becoming a makeup artist or just for your own makeup application - then you must attend this school...I cannot say enough about it - IT'S FABULOUS!!! Lia Schorr welcomes you into the school as if it were her home. Oh and the teachers are amazing !!! Right now I am taking the basic makeup course with Heidi Reid and you must take this class ...she is amazing!!!! you will not be disappointed!!! Register as soon as you can!!! more

When I went to The Lia Schorr Day Spa for my appointment I wasn’t expecting to meet Lia the owner. When I walked into the spa I was stunned by how beautiful, gracious and hard working she was. She is great at multi-tasking and interacted with every client that came through that door and knew a lot of the customer’s by name which is a rare find these days. I couldn’t wait to go to her spa because I knew she was famous for her skin care expertise I have read about her in Europe, South America, and Israel Magazines. I was surprised when I met her how attractive, warm and bright she was. I witnessed a conversation between Lia and one of her male clients she was right on top with her answers about shaving “WOW”! I said to myself “this is an honor to listen to such a legend about her skin care information”. While I was sitting in the waiting area I noticed her 3 books on display in her spa and I saw clients glancing through them. It’s so wonderful how passionate Lia is about her work. She is a classy lady with a lot of charisma, full of enthusiasm & life. You can really tell she loves what she does. I really admire her for her that because it’s not often you come across people that truly love the line of work they have chose in life and it show’s with Lia it’s not work to her it’s a passion. I have been in the fashion industry for over 20 years. Due to the recession and the decline in the economy, layoffs and foreclosures it was a real wake up call for me. Its amazing how one minute you can have a great job, home & family and the next minute you have lost some or all of that life without warning. Even when it doesn’t happen directly to you it can still make you feel so insecure with so many people around you that are losing their jobs. The company I work for has about 50 employees and each year approx 8 people get laid with no new hiring. Being that I am older more sensible and wiser I started to look around me to see what professions were still growing despite the economy with barely any layoffs and I realized the spa & skin care industry was still growing even though we were in a recession. I decided to start looking around at the schools that offer the esthetics skin care licensing program that entitles you to become a skin care expert and makeup artist. I finally settled on the Lia Schorr Institute of Cosmetic Training because when I went to tour the school they really made me feel welcome and such great flexibility in the schedules unlike some of the other schools had set days and times but I needed something that helped me to work around my work schedule & the everyday busy life of my family. I am so glad I chose this institute it was such a wonderful, magical experience. They have such a high education system, all the professors were extremely knowledgeable and didn’t treat us like we were just students they made us all feel important and like a family. I have learned so much in such a short time I never would have thought before this program that there is so much to learn about the science of skin care. We learned the science of the skin, product ingredient, client communication, business management, and so much more. The inspirational Lia Schorr herself is a very charismatic, knowledgeable, hard working, good hearted individual. We all look up to her and are so inspired by her achievements and work ethics she is one of the best role models I have ever met and we are all very lucky to be a part of this special school. more

I've been to Lia Schorr a total of six times, only because I had to. On my first visit Lia Schorr (she is always around) sold me on a package of six facials at a good deal. Unfortunately, after my second visit, I regretted my decision. While Lia may be known for her techniques, she needs some improvement with customer service. She is matter of fact and borderline rude. After a long hiatus to reluctantly use my last facial, Lia and the lady doing my facial pushed products and services on me as I remember them doing it the other times I was there. The facial itself was relaxing and my skin walked out feeling supple and smooth. However, the next day, after I thought the facialist extracted all my whiteheads, I found more. The facialist was gentle and kind but I am glad I've finished my packages and will no longer return. more

THE DECOR OF LIA SCHORR DAY SPA IS ANTI GLITZ AND FLASH. INSTEAD IT IS REFRESHINGLY PRO SOOTHING AND DIGNIFIED. ITS IDENTITY IS NOT CONFUSED, THINKING THAT PERHAPS IT SHOULD BE FORCED TO BE LIKE A NIGHT CLUB. RATHER, ITS MESSAGE IS THAT IT IS A SERIOUS SPA, MS. SCHORR IS A MASTER OF THE THERAPIES IT OFFERS, HAVING DONE THEM SOME FORTY YEARS AND PENNED THREE BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT. NEVERTHELESS, YOU GET A LUXE AURA, ALMOST ROYAL, OF BEAUTIFULLY TEXTILED CUSHIONS ON ANTIQUE CHAIRS AND BENCHES WITH THE NEARBY EXOTIC PLANTS OOZING OXYGEN. BECOME ONE WITH THE CALM COLORS. THIS PLACE IS A WELCOME COUNTERPOINT TO THE BEEP, BEEP AND BANG, BANG OF NEW YORK CITY. IN A WAY IT IS ALSO A CHANCE FOR YOU TO CONNECT WITH YOURSELF. more

I am a runner at Central Park, I run 4 miles every day in the morning at 6am, I'm in my fifties and I love to take care of my feet so pedicure's are a necessity for me.I get a pedicure religiously once a week and between Tammy & Tatyana the manicurists, they really know what they are doing they do such a fantastic job! They really take their time with me and take such great care of my feet. This is truly the place for me. more

I purchased a voucher from living social for a 80 minute facial including deep pore cleansing, glycolic, and a seaweed mask for $75. I was worried that something so reasonable might not be incredible. It was the most reasonable price for such a well-known spa offering this incredible deal, when every other spa charges 3x more. I must say the facial was EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. The facialist took her time with me, analyzed every single part of my face, and explained everything she was about to do and the reason for it. The glycolic was incredible, it did not hurt at all. The percentage was between 10-15% which is good. At the end my face was glowing, clean, and radiant. I rushed to a dinner party after my service at the Lia Schorr Day Spa and received a tremendous amount of compliments. I had to call back the next morning and purchase 6 more facials and she is running this incredible deal where I received all 6 facials for $300. Can you believe it? Thanks to Lia Schorr and the Spa and Staff I have an amazing new place to go for facials, massages, and every treatment possible. more

I am truly amazed at the number of positive reviews! How does anyone make it through the front door? I called Lia Schorr as a new client with questions about the Groupon for a glycolic facial. Ms. Schorr introduced herself over the phone and was purposely vague and unbelievably rude! I inquired what percentage glycolic acid is used in the facial, which she didn't answer. I inquired if extractions are done, to which she responded, "It says that, doesn't it?" And finally, before finishing my statement, she hung up on me! This is a recession...those in the service industry should be bending over backward with accomodating/professional service. Wow! more

I had a facial yesterday that I purchased from Groupon in January 2010 but, somehow never used. (The fact that the owner extended the validity of the Groupon past the expiration date, I thought was courteous.) I wasn't really expecting much - I've had many facials over the years and sure, they're great, but pretty much all the same. Wow! I had the BEST facial ever! My facialist, Eugenya, was amazing. She diagnosed my skin and the behaviors that created my current issues without skipping a beat. She then proceeded to craft a custom treatment for me. I left feeling and looking amazing! I ended up buying a package of 4 more facials - something I don't usually do ... and I'm writing a review - something I have NEVER done for any service or product - ever! more

I was extremely shocked when I read the last review about this spa. First of all lets start with the headline " Old Russian School Service" does this mean you don't think Russians are capable of giving good service? Plus there are very few russians that work there so obviously this person is very prejudice and does not know what they are talking about. Then the statement about the interior of the spa, how it is old school russian and not much of a spa feeling. This spa has a very nice, cozy, classic look to it, this spa has been here for over 20 years it is not some pop-up chain. So my question is why did you go to get a facial? was it just to relax? or did you want to get results of a particular issue, aging, acne or just a deep cleaning to keep your skin looking clean and vibrant? whatever the reason at this place you go to get results! Lia has been known for many years to provide the best facials in town with very experienced facialists. This review is totally out of line and unacceptable! more

Every winter I take my children to ski in vermont. We own a house and we love it there. We go there quite often-my two beutiful daughters, my husband and I. I am in my fifties and I have dry skin but this winter it became extremely dry, flakey, and hurt, it worried me a lot. Lia Schorr Day Spa was mentioned in Time Out Magazine for reflexology just recently but the name rang a bell. I called for help for my dry skin and got an appointment right away. I had an oxygen facial and a seaweed mask and to follow up on a home regimen, Lia Schorr suggested collagen ampoules and equilizing serum. It was like a 360 degree turn around. My face actually stopped flaking and my skin became incredibly better. Lia also gave me the best tip when I ski and it was to use sunscreen lip balm eye cream moisturizer.
