My new favourite place 11/21/2010

I finally found a place where food is fresh, outstanding and indisputable. If you love pasta Teodora is your place. The pasta is home made! I also had a couple of salads and they were really yummy!! The service was great and for once the staff is 100% ITALIAN!! more

Most Authentic Ravennate food I have ever had 12/15/2009

I am from Ravenna Italy. The Fritto Misto is as good as one would get in Cesenatico. The Passastelli is almost as good as my Nonna used to make (the only change..a little less breadcrumbs, a little more Grana Padano). The Tagliatelle were superb. Pros: The authenticity of the food more

Good Ambience, food just ok 5/17/2009

I didn't think there were any good restaurants near Bloomingdales and I still don't think there are any. However, Teodora isn't terrible. I felt like I had to have the lasagne since so many people had written stellar reviews of it. I was disappointed. It was a massive serving size, but was mushy. There was no texture to it, no substance. There wasn't that stringy cheese feel when you pull the fork away. My friend had the pasta special which turned out to be quite good. Homemade pasta, with tomato sauce, ricotta cheese, and basil. Overall the place wasn't bad, but I won't be there again. Pros: homemade pasta, ambience more

Genuine Italian Food 12/14/2008

I just went to Teodora last night and it was a really wonderful night out. The food was really amazing, home made and really tasty. The service was great, young and friendly people. I will definitively go back there soon. I Pros: close to subway, cheaper in comparison to other italian restaurant more

amazing stink 11/12/2008

man! this plaze stink ! i open the restaurant door and i left , maybe the pasta is the best but how can you eat with that horrible smell more

Italy in Midtown 8/6/2008

I am Italian and I am very picky when it's about food but, this time I had to recognize ""IT""S REAL ITALIAN FOOD"". Not cheesy or creamy, fake over covering taste. The menu offers different type of meal between pasta, meat, fish. I tried the artichoke salad and the carpaccio and they were sublime. My friend had the crostacei pasta and we also shared the vitello tonnato. WOW! Finally, the italian cheese cake, to die for!! Pros: Upstairs window location, Subway Cons: parking more

Best fresh pasta ever in NYC 5/28/2008

Can't say anything else best pasta in NYC, I will recomend you the bolognese, fazzoleto di ricotta e spinacci, Crostacei, humm gnocci. Excellent salads, and the prices compared to some other italian restaurant that I have been are very competitive. Pros: Food, service, very kind people more

It's true 3/10/2008

Good Date Place 1/28/2008

I ate here this past weekend with my girlfriend for an anniversary. It was Saturday night and the place was quiet and romatic. Appreciated the host's suggestion to sit in front as there seemed to be big parties upstairs and in the back. The front was quiet and dimly lit with mostly candles and soft lighting. Excellent mood for an anniversary. We had the fried artichoke appetizer which was different and delicious. I'm not a big vegitable eater but this was delicious. It believe it was pan fried (not breaded and deep fried) and lightly salted. My girlfriend had gnocchi and I had rack-of-lamb which were both excellent. Cocktails were expensive ($11 Beam and coke). A few minor negatives with the service. The handle was broken on my steak knife and we got dessert menus instead of the check which took a long time. Other than that I had a good experience and I plan to go back. Pros: Very good food, friendly staff, good atmosphere Cons: Pricey cocktails, more

Looking for great food?? 8/22/2007

I went here for a work lunch and was very surprised by the great food. The atmosphere is similar to eating at your Grandma's, but the food is the reason to keep going. Try the lasagna. It's the best thing on the menu. I will be going back for sure. Pros: Superior good eats Cons: Quiet atmosphere more

MAGNIFICENT FOOD - EXCELLENT SERVICE - GREAT DECOR/AMBIENCE ALL IN ONE GREAT PLACE !!!!! 3/26/2007

This is the third time that I have been to TEODORA over the course of the last year and a half. Today I was lucky enough to be there once again and ONCE AGAIN the food was magnificent, the service was excellent and the decor and ambience makes you drift away as if you are sitting in the Italian countryside enjoying a superb meal and enveloping yourself in all the aromas and the setting. Pros: SUPERB FOOD, GREAT SERVICE AND FABULOUS AMBIENCE Cons: NONE THAT I CAN THINK OF...... more

consistently great 9/30/2006

have been here several times with friends and distant family, but the clincher was taking my parents last night. service was terrific, food was divine as always, and they were unfailingly cheerful even though we only had a bottle of wine and a sampling of appetizers. one more pleasant evening. Pros: service, food, ambience Cons: 57th street address more

A hidden gem 12/15/2005

Molto bene! This quaint and romantic trattoria is at the top of my Manhattan restaurant list. The food is delicious - from the specials to the regular menu-fare, the dishes are never a disappointment. Whether it's the parmesean & porcini souffle or the lamb glazed with balsamic vinegar, you will surely be transported to Northern Italy with one bite. Although the tables may be closely situated, the candle-light, food-quality and service overcompensate. A guaranteeed delight! Pros: delicious food, romantic more

A Consistently Mediocre Trattoria 9/26/2005

First of all, this place is *not* romantic, as claimed by Citysearch's editorial review. Either that, or the editor's idea of romance must be sharing a conversation with the next table, while trying to speak louder than the traffic on 57th. The tables are crammed way too close, the menu is typical of any Italian restaurant, and the wine list is simply overpriced. Slightly above average wines start at $70+ with only one selection listed at $30+. Service is not what one would expect from a joint in this price category. For instance, plates were just dumped on the table, I was handed the wine list upside down, etc.... Somehow working the italian charm with constant ""mille grazie"" does not constitute proper service. To be completely fair, the only redeeming factor was the food, which was above average, but couldn't make up for all the other deficiencies of Teodora. more

Teohorror 9/15/2005

Bad service. Our party of 3 adults and 1 infant was asked to relocate to the second floor after we were all seated. The second floor was much more spacious and so we decided to overlook the incident. Later, the same waiter carelessly shoved an extra chair from another party against the back of my chair until the 2 chairs clanked. I was mortified. Foodwise, my Tagliatelle was heavy handedly seasoned. My profiteroles were a soupy mess, I contemplated sending them back. The best thing about this place was the spaciousness of the second floor, however good restaurants aren't usually renown for their square footage. Pros: Spacious second floor Cons: Bad Service, Heavily seasoned food, Not for Families more

Rich G. 1/17/2005

Found service above average, but that could be because we were 13 of us. My host asked for appetizers for the group and the waiter gave us not only what we ordered, but some other items that were not ordered. Normally that would be improper, however they were all delicious and my host did not complain. We all ate pasta entre'es, which were great. All in all the food was above average and I would return to see how they operate with four or less dinners. Pros: Good Parking, food tasty more

Great place for lunch or dinner 3/5/2004

This is a consistently great place to dine for lunch or dinner. All the pastas are fantastic and the homemade lasagna is some of the best that I have had in the City. The all-Italian staff is warm and engaging from the start. Its a great place for a casual date or to entertain clients for lunch. Try the lasagnette appetizer. Buon appetito! Pros: Great Food, Friendly Service, Good Atmosphere more

Italiano but dissapointing 12/29/2002

My friend from Milan and myself were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and everyone spoke italian. Too bad the food wasn't of the same heritage. The porcini mushroom pasta special was tasteless, so was the seafood tagliatelle. A real dissapointment. But that wasn't the icing on the cake: a tiramisu that resembled nothing I have ever had. They should have called it mascarpone with chocolate chips-good but a far cry from what the name implies. Priced at upper intermediate range. Pros: small, cozy, true italian waiters Cons: tasteless food, pricey more

Warm and Cozy 11/4/2002

I have no idea why this restaurant is so often overlooked. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you're in the perfect place. Everyone who works there (the host, the bartender, the servers) is so helpful. And the food is fantastic. Favourites include: potato & spinach gnocchi and the lamb. I once ordered the risotto special, which was with prosciutto and parmesan, and the prosciutto was barely noticeable, but that was the only negative aspect I've ever encountered there. Pros: cozy atmosphere, great food, good service more

not-a-bad-a 10/14/2002

decent joint, service was nice, and food came at appropraite intervals. I had the tuna tartare appeizer, was a bit oliy, but it was pretty good. The pasta with lobster was not bad, but the sauce could have used a bit more umph. Overall, a good palce for a casual date, or with your parents. The only knock is that it is easy to eavesdrop on other tables. Pros: nice waitstaff, prompt service Cons: too quiet more
