I moved to NY almost 3 years ago and was recommended by a friend to see Gia. She's amazing! I'm very picky when it comes to people cutting my hair and I think she does an excellent job! I've had her do highlights, bangs and layers. She's even styled my hair for weddings and every time it comes out perfect! If you're looking for someone to cut your hair in New York, I would definitely recommend Gia at Shear Bliss. more

Gia has been cutting my hair for the past 4 years now. She is excellent. Whether you're looking for a classic or trendy bob, highlights or lowlights, a spiral perm or the layered look, she's your girl. She's a hard worker and is very accomodating with appointments (Wedneday through Sunday). Take a chance, you won't be disappointed. She's worth her fees. more

I've been going to Shear Bliss for some time and i love it. Its been a great cuts and colors. Recently they offered me a Power Dose to shine up my hair and its something unbealiveble, they say its a pure proteins(whatever it is , it works.) Its shine , soft and beautiful. Highly recommend. more

Excellent cuts and color! 3/10/2007

I've been seeing Lana for years & always leave with great looking hair! Even when it's so busy that she has to get someone to help her with certain things on me (color, blowdrying, etc), I still feel pampered by her & everyone else. I admit, you have to watch out for that price list...it seems like it's $25+ for a cut but that ""+"" is a kicker...I know they charge more for senior stylists & long hair. For me, it ends up being about $60, which causes initial sticker shock though I already know all this...I can see how that sticker shock could really annoy newcomers so better ask about prices for yourself in advance! I really trust Lana & her input/decisions on my cuts & color. Sometimes I think about switching to a cheaper place but I like what Shear Bliss does too much to do that! I live nowhere near this place but find it worthwhile to make the trek here. Pros: Fabulous cuts/color; friendly & competent staff; lively trendy ambience Cons: Somewhat vague price list more

Snotty service 2/20/2007

Walked into this place and they took one look at me in my sneakers and jeans and i could feel everyone's snobby pretentious look of disgust. The receptionist look stressted out, a sign on the door says ""walk in appointments available"" but the receptionist walked around asking and no one seemed to agree to want to cut my hair then they told me maybe in 45 minutes. I walked out feeling like they all thought they were better than me. No thanks! Pros: looks trendy Cons: rude staff more

Thought it was great, until they overcharged me! 12/22/2006

Ignore the fact that the salon's website tells you a shampoo/cut/style comes to 25. They ended up charging me 60! When I asked about it, I was told that my stylist was a senior stylist, whose cuts start at 45. No one told me this when I came in! I ended up paying over twice as much as I was expecting to spend, which soured the whole experience for me. Pros: Friendly staff, fun atmosphere, good cuts Cons: Shady pricing more

Good cut but ripped off 5/17/2006

I returned to Shear Bliss because I liked my first cut. When I got there, the woman who had previously cut my hair was having her hair cut by another woman - there were no customers in the salon. I agreed to come back in 10 minutes when she was done so that I'd get her again. I returned, got my cut, and then when I went to pay, I was told it was $35 instead of $20 (almost twice the price) because I wasn't a ""walk in."" Apparently, requesting the woman I'd like to cut my hair even though I'd walked in and then agreed to come back is ""an appointment"". Maybe this is something standard in salons and I'm used to barbers. Either way, they lost my business. more

Always a pleasure 9/30/2005

I have been a customer of Lana for several years now and love this salon. I don't even live or work anywhere near the neighborhood and still go! Every time I am there the staff is incredibly courteous and the service impeccable. Great value for excellent hair treatments. Would definitely recommend this place! more

love it 5/8/2005

I was comming from work when I saw the sign from Shear Bliss. I decided to stop by and have just a regular wash and blow. The hairstylist (Svieta) looked carefully at my hair and asked me if I wanted a new hair color/highlights or a hair cut. I was a little scared but by the way she was talking to me, I realized that she really knew what she was talking about. She even told me what types of hair products to use in order to make my hair shinnier and healthier. After I looked at myself I was speechless. My new hair cut and the highlights made my hair look so beautiful. I was looking at the new and better me!! I was very satisfied with the work and most of all in comparison to other salons it was not that expensive. I will definitely come back again more

I love Shear Bliss!! 5/5/2005

I am a very picky when it comes to my hair. Five months ago a friend of mine told me about Shear Bliss. The first time I went I had a haircut, and highlights. I was extremely satisfied. Since that day Lana is my hairdresser and I can say that she has magic hands. She is very careful and I always take her advise about what to do with my hair. Now, I get a lot of compliments on my hair. I cannot forget to mention that not only the service is great but also the prices are excellent!!!!!!!!!:-) Pros: Inexpensive, Enviroment more

I just moved from uptown. And I got my hair colored and cut at Shear Bliss. I never looked better. I get a lot of compliments on my hair. I love Lana for making me look and feel so good. Thanks Lana. I will send a lot of friends to you. Great stuff, great team. more
