I came to Salon Ziba for a New Year's updo based on the reviews I've seen on Citysearch. BIG MISTAKE. My stylist would not let me pick out what up-do I wanted. I told her multi...

Fryda is MY new Colorist 12/21/2007

About 2 weeks ago I heard that one of my favorite colorist had moved, it broke my heart but the management was so accomadating to my needs and referred another colorist named Fryda. I must say, Fryda was incredible!!! She listened to what I wanted and gave it to me exactly how I asked. I am so pleased with the job she did and her rates are much more affordable (especially during this holiday season, its nice to save something!). I was going to follow Tracey to her new location but Fryda is it for me. She is amazing and I recommend everyone to her. Its always hard starting over with someone new but everyone assured me that she would be great and she was, I am 100% satisfied. Pros: two types of everything stylists and colorists more

Best People & Brazilian Kertain Treatment in NYC! 8/24/2007

When I first read about Brazilian Keratin Straightening in the NYT (Skin Deep: Curls, Split! Ringlets, Be Gone!, July 19th, 2007), I was immediately interested. I did my research, checked out braziliankeratin dot com, found Salon Ziba and checked CitySearch for reviews. I called up, scheduled a consulation, and two days later received the treatment. I could not be happier with my hair!!! I highly recommend Valerie, both for her professionalism and talent. She is AMAZING!!! Millie is also fabulous, she's on the management side of things and just such a pleasure to deal with. I saw both of their names recommended on Citysearch before, and now I know why!! I can't say enough about them or the treatment... amazing through and through. So glad I went there and suggest you do too! You won't regret it! more

Great customer service 8/2/2007

Dispite the negative reviews people in the big city write, I found that SALON ZIBA is the place to be. I've seen Felipe downstairs several times for cuts and drys. Not only is he cute but he is great. I recently visited the upstairs part of the salon which i must say it is wonderful. The assistant manager has the nicest additude and the best hair i have ever seen. She was the one that put me on to the brazilian keratine treatment that was done by my princess VALERIE, she is the best. Thx MILLIE all of you at ziba deserve to be talked about like best team of people in NYC. To the owner that's a beautiful location you have there best wishes. Anyway I can't wait to visit NY again so I can see my wonderful artist at ziba. My hair has never been this long, straight and full of shine and strong. Valerie I'm coming back for the bkt in Sept. that will be my next trip to NY Felipe see you soon. Pros: Ambience, service, and great prices Cons: It's not in P.R. more

Brazilian Keratin Treatment 7/27/2007

I am so happy, I just got my Brazilian Keratin Treatment done a week ago and I am in love. I actually was referred to this salon by a friend but was reluctant to go in, but after reading the great review from here I decided to give it a try. I went for a free conslutation and by the end of the week I was getting my Brazilian Treatment done, my hair was definitely damaged and now the shine and smoothness is coming back. This Treatment has left my hair feeling healthy and soft. I am constantly getting compliments on my hair I love this salon for it. Pros: Everyone is so friendly Cons: Its a bit pricey but its definitely worth every penny more

Best Salon in the City 7/17/2007

I've been going to Salon Ziba for 3 years now and I've had alittle of everyone and I have to say I feel really bad for those of you that had bad experiences at Ziba but I love it. I wouldn't trade this Salon for any other in the city. If you want a Quick Service where your in and out you go downstairs to Vincent, Filipe, Maurico, Laila, Jeffrey or anyone everyone is really good. Upstairs is where the Master Stylists are and they are GREAT! I've done my hair with almost all of them so I recommend anyone Chrissy, Lynne, Byron, Freddie, or anyone really... they all have there own style which is good, they listen to you and add alittle bit of their own flare its a wonderful experience. I've gotten everything done here from my hair cuts, my color even to waxing and for that I recommend Mercedes she is the BEST!!! but overall I give Salon Ziba Excellence in every area ... more

Adrianna is the best stylist in the salon 7/5/2007

I've been going to Adrianna for about a year. She gives an amazing haircut and blends layers extremely well. I've been to several stylists in the salon and in NYC-she is by far the best! more

Best Haircolor 7/5/2007

I've been going to see Adriana for 7 years now and just can't imagine someone else doing my color, so I go to her wherever she is. Now she works at Salon Ziba. What I love about Adriana the most is that she always does my color the way I like it . She doesn't over -process my hair so it looks shiny and healthy even though it's blond. And yes, I've tried other colorists, but I've always returned to her because she just seems to understand what I want, so instead of doing the job twice I just go straight to her :) I never have a dark spot or broken hair ! And Adriana is always in a good mood, curteous and professional. Pros: beautiful salon, relaxing atmosphere and the staff is always very friendly Cons: upper-east side prices :) but it's wotrh every penny ! more

The best Salon in the City... TRUST ME 6/5/2007

I've searching for a good Salon for a year now and I happened to stumble on Salon Ziba and all I can say is how wonderful my hair has been since I' ve started going there. When I came in everyone was so nice, there customer service is by far EXCELLENT the staff of stylists are INCREDIBLE and because my hair was so damaged one of the master stylists had recommended something called the Brazilian Keratin Treatment. This process only took two hours and left my hair feeling silky straight and added shine. I learned that from coloring my hair so much, my hair was losing the Keratin and this treatments purpose was to put the Keratin back in my hair its not harsh on the hair like a Japanese straightening but its not a straighter. All I can say is that I LOVE MY HAIR and I recommend salon ziba to everyone especially the brazilian keratin treatment . The price is DEFINITELY worth it. Pros: They have prepaid packages more

BEST HAIRDRESSER - - CHRISSY 5/10/2007

I have been going to Salon Ziba for about 4 months now. All I can say is WOW! I searched for a year for a salon with a stylist that knew how to cut thick, curly hair. I was in desperate need of layers. And my prayers were answered.... her name... CHRISSY ACEVADO. She is the BEST! I cannot even explain what a talented hair dresser she is! I recommend her 100%. You will NOT regret going to her. Pros: ALWAYS ACCOMODATING WITH APPOINTMENTS Cons: EXPENSIVE...BUT WORTH IT more

Great customer service and colorist 5/4/2007

I work in the area and passed by the salon for almost a year before venturing in. Pros: ease of appts., convenient location, friendly staff, very clean more

Great everything 5/4/2007

I am happy to recommend this salon to everyone. It was very easy to schedule the appointment at time convenient for me. My highlights look healthy, natural and same time modern and the haircut is just as amazing as highlights. I had tons of compliments from my co-workers and just people on the streets. THX ! more

Not happy 5/3/2007

I used to go to Salon Ziba about 10 years ago. I wanted to get a new haircut so I decided I would try Salon Ziba again. In the past I absolutely loved the everything about the salon. My daughter and I would go there regularly for haircuts etc. I looked online because I couldn't remember exactly how to get there. I read all the comments left by other people that had gone to the salon. I decided to take a chance anyway. I went and I asked for a specific haircut. When it was all said and done I looked worse than from when I first walked in. I told the stylist this and he was actually trying to convince that it looked good. I don't proclaim to be a beauty queen but I know what a good haircut looks like on me. I was not happy about it and made it known that I wasn't happy. . I waited for others to comment on my haircut and all were of the same opinion - you call that a haircut? I waited a week and went to salon near my home (first time I've gone there) and had my hair done. The woman asked me questions and listened to my answers and I walked out with the haircut that I wanted. Pros: It is a beautiful set up Cons: the hairsylist who did my hair more

Ask for Adriana 4/14/2007

I've been going to Salon Ziba for over a year, but I admit, the only reason is b/c I followed my colorist/stylist there. I've been going to Adriana for over 3 yrs and went to her at her former salon before she came here. She is definitely a master colorist. I have extremely long and thick hair and I get a single process and highlights about every 7-8 weeks. Depending on the season I'll go lighter or darker. She will do exactly what you want and even make suggestions. She'll go out of her way to make sure you get the exact color you're paying for. I don't trust my hair with ANYONE else. Pros: Adriana more

Avoid this place 3/22/2007

Horrible service, stylists cannot keep scissors or combs in their hands - they just do not know what to do with it!!! they dry your hair for 2 minutes and call it styling!!! you can do it better yourself... Do not even waste your time going to that place more

Great results with Tracy 3/21/2007

I've been going to Salon Ziba regularly (with great results) for the past year or so after a few sporadic visits (with mixed results -- including terrible color that caused my hair to break from a first floor colorist) from the two years prior. I switched from a pricey SoHo salon where I got a great cut for twice what I pay at Ziba but color that I was never quite happy with for twice what I pay at Ziba. Then someone recommended Tracy to me. Tracy is my regular colorist at Ziba, and she is always attentive and does a GREAT job. The other reviews are correct -- results on Floor 1 are pretty hit-or-miss. For any chemical work, definitely stick to the second floor crew. However, for a cut, I use Gregory on the first floor. I lucked into Gregory when the other stylist I had requested called in sick, and he's been cutting my hair ever since. He's quick, and his cuts grow out beautifully. more

CHRISSY IS THE ONE TO SEE! 3/7/2007

GO to SALON ZIBA!!! I chose to ignore the negative reviews and IT WAS SO WORTH MY WHILE! I have curly hair (as in Shirley Temple curly) and needed a hairstyle that would work with my features, keep me young looking and naturally, that did not require a lot of time to style. When I arrived at Salon Ziba I was asked if I wanted a Junior Stylist on the first floor or a Senior stylist on the second level, since I'm a firm believer that 'YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR', I opted for a Senior stylist. I was walked upstairs and introduced to CHRISSY. I was told that she was an excellent stylist and handled curly hair magnificently. They were so right!!!! Chrissy is a sweetheart and most professional. She immediately inquired as to my daily routine and how much time I was willing to put into styling my hair each day. After telling her that I wasn't willing to spend more than 10-15 minutes and 20 minutes on a really good day, she proceeded to cut my hair. When she was done, she blew it out for me. IT WAS FABULOUS!!! She styled it in layers with gorgeous wispy bangs. The jackpot was, that not only did I get compliments from everyone that saw me, but I was able to style it just like she did in about 15 minutes. Wait! there is more...when I opt to let it go curly, it falls in place beautifully!!! CHRISSY YOU ARE MY SUPER STYLIST!!!! Pros: My appointment began on time, very relaxing environment more

Worst Experience, claimed she was a master artisit and educator 12/13/2006

Went to Salon Ziba to get my lightened a bit, to put a few highlights in. Anyway Lynne, the stylist claimed ""no problem"" we will just put a little blond in it. What I specifically said was make it pop a little with a FEW highlights. My hair is white, it looks horrible and trashy. I have been wearing a hat the last few days. I cannot believe that she is a master artist and an educator- that is scary. She did not stop talking about herself the entire time and obviously did not listen to a word I said. Would not go here or to see Lynne. more

Most amazing day of my life 11/4/2006

I had never gotten my hair done in a salon before and decided to go all out. I feel so sorry for the people who had a bad experience here because I found it to be AMAZING. I have been dying my hair on my own for ten years now and i finally damaged it so much that it was all falling out. I found salon ziba because my friend has AMAZING hair and she recommended me to this place. Pros: punctual, perfectionists Cons: a little expensive, but it really is worth it more

Best Hairstyle Cut and Wash Ever! 10/23/2006

I went there with my sister who has been going for 6 years to see Chrissy Acevedo. I put my head in her hands and what a great job she did. I simply told her what my routine was in the morning and a little about my life and she took it from there. She sent me for a wash and OH MY GOD! The man had magic hands. He gave me a wash and massage that if I weren't in a public place I probably would have been moaning. Then I went to Chrissy and she was fantastic. Her personality only enhances her styling ability. It was a wonderful experience and would recommend Chrissy and the second floor staff to everyone. more
