I have been coming to this place for the past two years, a gem I found from reading Frommers when I first moved to NYC in 2004. This is my quintessential ""date"" place. The atmosphere is cute, cozy and relaxed. On the walls, are pictures of celebrities from Brazil, reviews from magazines and books, and some ethnic Brazilian artwork and cute Brazilian knick-knacks and instruments. The music is always amazing, whether it be samba or girl from inpanema type of music. The entire staff is from Brazil and the owner often goes to the tables to chat with customers. The food is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, and it's not too pricey. My favorites are the salmon and the arroz con pollo. They also carry Guarana, a Brazilian soda, which I am now addicted to. The staff is friendly most of the time but sometimes absent. The place is tiny, and you are in elbow room with the table next to you, but the positives way outweigh the negatives. Not a place for kids, but a great ""date"" place.
Pros: Ambiance, food
Cons: Extremely small
