Worst

They had a hot DJ on Friday night. (Its was a girl btw). She actually has SKILL and is SEXIE as HELL oh yea an Bartenders think its scores. Pros: Music Cons: Just don't go...

Slow service, mediocre food. 5/22/2007

Slow service, didn't get what we ordered, mediocre food. Went for lunch on a weekday. It took over 45 minutes to get our food and there were only six other tables being served. Ordered coke and water, got 2 cokes. Ordered a burger medium well, it was medium rare. The fries were good but that doesn't make up for the rest. Definitely won't go back. more

Waste of space, waste of people, waste of time 5/21/2007

Don't bother going to this place. It is packed with young guys who don't know any better and the girls who are just as pathetic. It is so sad that these guys actually think that they got game, but in reality all they have on is a bad suit and a raging hard *n. Don't bother going. Pros: um......NOTHING Cons: everything- people, atmosphere, drinks, service and the noise more

Shoulda gone to Redemption 2night 3/21/2007

I went to another bar on the 2nd Ave strip tonight and needless to say, it wasn't Redemption. I really wasted my money. Redemption is so much cooler than all the other frat bars in the area. I like Redemption for the staff and customers that just seem to "get it" more.Everyone in there just seems nicer and like there really having a good time getting a buzz on. Plus they got hot Dj Stacy Stylez. on the one's and two's. Next time I go out on the 2nd ave strip I won't be as dumb as I was tonight.Redemption. Pros: better than the other 2nd ave rip offs Cons: ? more

Best Bar Around - 2/22/2007

I have been to many bars in NYC but Redemption is the best time I have ever had. I went after work to work to meet some friends. The bar had a great crowd. We decided to grab some dinner. The food was just great. I had such a phenominal time that I booked my friends birthday party and my company xmas party there. All were GREAT and went off with out a hitch. The staff is warm and friendly and the music is awesome. I have no desire or reason to go anywhere else when I go out. It is a must when u are in the area. Period. Pros: Staff, Food, Crowd, Atmosphere more

I agree with everyone else 2/15/2007

I went ro redemption despite the negative reviews. There weren't many people in there and now I know why. The manager seemed to be the only one having fun in the place. He was inebriated and slurring his words. I will never go back to that place. YUCK! Pros: food Cons: drunk manager no customers more

Rude Manager and Bouncer 1/25/2007

DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR! The staff is extremely disrespectful. I went there with friends and at the end of the night the manager became extremely hostile and out of nowhere decided that we should leave. We did and the bouncer followed us outside, screamed racial remarks to me and then attacked my boyfriend. When I called the cops the bouncer mysteriously disappeared and the manager said that no such problem existed. This place is trouble. Pros: NONE Cons: Bouncers who have a license to assault patrons more

Awesome crowd great addition to the neighborhood 1/25/2007

I had my engagement party here and the new menu and staff were awesome. Everyone made us feel so comfortable I would highly recommend this venue for a great night out. Great atmoshere and cool people. Pros: Service, food, atmoshere more

RUDE RUDE RUDE 11/25/2006

DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR!!! The staff is pretentious, conceited, and out of control rude to their patrons. When they were closing up for the night, the bouncer started yelling at me to leave. I was doing as he asked, putting on my coat and trying to leave when I asked him to please try to be cordial to me, I was, after all, a customer. His reply was a swift..."Why don't you lose some weight?" before he slammed the door on me!!! I understand he wanted to go home, but his behavior is UNACCEPTABLE!!! I have never been spoken to like that in my life. A word of advice for this place; there are hundreds upon hundreds of bars and pubs in the NYC area. I choose where to spend my money and you can be sure it will NEVER be at Redemption again. I just hope they get shut down in the future. Pros: They serve beer Cons: rude unprofessional staff, more

Great drinks, good food, great service and attentive staff 10/25/2006

Moderately crowded and hot waitresses. The DJ was spinning good mixes. The drink prices were reasonable and the service was amazing. The staff is quick and attentive. The waitress even stopped by to give us free beers for the order she took wrong for another table. The food was quick and great. I might just have another favorite!! Pros: Hot Waitresses, Service, DJ Cons: Moderately crowded.. more

The VERY WORST SERVICE IN NYC 10/8/2006

Horrible drinks, horrible service, horrible everything. I've never reviewed any place on citysearch, but I had to with these people. We never got our food and people all around us just got up and left. Everybody was complaining about the place. Total waste of time. I give this place a couple of months before it closes. STAY AWAY!!! Pros: none Cons: everything more

Hey Ms. DJ keep playin my song 9/24/2006

How this place landed DJ Stacy Stylez as a resident DJ I don't know. The place is humble and low key. Cute waitresses and bartenders and out of sight DJ. I had a good time listening to the music and downing my drinks with Stacy in full force. But the crowd was dull. There was never any surge of people or climax. The place is good for what it is but don't expect a meatpacking crowd. I probably will go back only because its local and Stacey Stylez is there. Pros: Music and comfortable seats Cons: crowd is dull more

Always a good time! 9/20/2006

I have always have and have had good service and a fantastic time. The staff is extremely friendly and on top of it, not bad looking either:-) I will be having my birthday party and everyone who had a bad expierience at redemption can come to my party, it will be a quaranted good time! Cheers guys keep up the good work! more

Beyond awful 9/7/2006

I went to Redemption twice in the last month and both times were disaster. A co-worker & I went for lunch and waited 40 min after we ordered the mini hamburgers. Not only were the fries cold and underdone but they could not even get putting cheese the burgers right on right. The waitress explained that they had a new chef. I decided to give them a second chance for after work drinks. The service was incredibly slow, they gave my friend the wrong chicken dish. To add insult to injury, the had the nerve to add on a gratiuty for a party of 3 and the bill was not that exhorbitant for 2 appetizers and 6 drinks. When I refused to pay the added on gratuity, they said it was for an outdoor seating charge. Of course this was neither mentioned on the bill nor any of the menus. Pros: Nice venue and outdoor seating Cons: Terrible service more

Something has gone horribly wrong 8/20/2006

After numerous recommendations and reading great reviews, I decided to hold my birthday party at Redemption this past weekend. I can only assume that this place has changed hands in the past few weeks or that they are rennovating, but something has changed dramatically. First, even though I called a month in advance and checked a few weeks before, they had no record of a party coming in that night. They were recommended as a great place to have a private party, however, we were offered tables by the bar or half the section in the back... neither of which could comfortably sit 20 people nor were they anything close to private. The first strange thing was that the menu online was different from the menu we received. Upon further investigation, the menus we received in the bar were for a pizza place down the street, and they had to deliver the food in to us, which took a very long time. Upon scheduling the party, I was promised drink and food specials for my guests and told that the manager buys rounds, however all we received were half-priced margaritas and apple-tinis. No food specials. No rounds. Nothing. On top of that, I was questioning whether the $10 drinks actually had any alcohol in them. Everyone mentioned that they tasted no alcohol and left 100% sober. Also, for a bar that calls itself part sports bar, we were dissapointed to see that all the TVs could only display 1 channel. A sports bar is defined as a place that you can watch multiple sporting events at a time. Not so much here. There was also no DJ as advertised. I can't complain about the service, as the waitress was very accomodating to our multiple requests. The management of this bar must be to blame, as nothing was as promised. If things were changed, someone should have informed me of that when I planned my party. I'm sure this is a great place to grab a drink, but DO NOT listen to the reviews about having a party here unless you want to walk away VERY dissapointed. Pros: They tried Cons: They failed more

FREAKY FRIDAY-IN THE BEST WAY! 8/12/2006

This little corner joint with outside seating is the best little secret in Manhattan. I strolled in Friday in my suit and tie after work and felt like I was chillin at my best friends house. It was homey and just plain old cool. Dj Stacy Stylez should be called "Smiling Stacy Stylez" I felt like she was playing for me all night. She played All my favorite songs and got really "into it". I was entertained by her sexyness and talent all night. The vibe was very Miami with leather couches and wood flooring. The only negative was the men to woman ratio being far more men, then woman, but they probably all came to gawk at Stacy. Pros: The hot DJ Cons: More men than woman more

User review by wzs1176 1/2/2006

Honestly, I could not have had a better experience for my 30th birthday party. Both Sara and Anthony were incredibly helpful, and all of my guests had a wonderful time. The appetizers were outstanding, and the overall service was great. I cannot say enough positive things! more

Amazing Location for a party 12/9/2005

I planned a party for my boyfriend for 25 people. Sara and Anthony provided so many options for food and drinks and helped me figure out what would be best for the group. We had the private room downstairs which just opened. The room is perfect with it's own bar, coaches and tables. The candles, brick walls, and red accents created a warm, inviting atmosphere. Our bartender, Michelle, was friendly and no one was empty handed through out the night. Anthony was attentive throughout the party and constantly making sure everything was going well and checking if we needed anything else. Everyone loved the place, the drinks, the food platters Anthony made up and had an amazing time. We're planning to have another party there just for fun in March. I highly recommend Redemption for a bday or party event. Pros: staff, good drinks, value Cons: none more

Great spot for fun with friends 10/7/2005

Redemption is a great spot for a good time with friends. When the game's on - it's like you're in the stadium. The play music betwen innings, just like at the parks - and the seats are better. They have at least 5 plasma tvs! They do a great job with the drinks and menu (best burger around!). Me and my friends are definitely going back. Pros: fun music, great people more

Bring Ear Plugs 9/7/2005

I have NO IDEA why places can't control the VOLUME OF THEIR SOUND SYSTEMS. I'm beggining to think that they pump music to try and pull people from the street in. There were maybe 25 people in here and I couldn't hear a damn thing. It's sure not as fancy as this place makes itself out to be. Hardly any beers on tap for being a 'sports bar' The 'trendy' area in the back has IKEA sofa's with a multi color disco dance ball that was bought at Spencer's gifts. Yea, time to take a trip down memory lane and that frat house you lived in. Let the good times roll.....out the front door and to a place down the street. Pros: You'll, Go, Deaf Cons: You'll, Go, Deaf more

DJ ROCKS!!! 9/5/2005

Stacey your hot, your great!! My friends and I love you! We'll be back. Pros: awesome dj, great looking staff, cool people more

Editorial
  • The Scene
The bright front area screams "sports bar" with its flat-screen TVs, high-backed chairs and wraparound windows; while the low wooden tables, cobblestone walls and DJ booth in the back evoke a hipper, loungy feel. Retro touches, like an old-fashioned cash register and wood-burning stove, mix with more modern stylings, like funky white speakers and electric blue lighting. The effect is visually intriguing if disjointed.

    The Draw
The after-work crowd of 20- and 30-somethings appreciate the '80s music and happy-hour deals on beer and sangria. But there's also a special martini list with drinks corresponding to each letter of "redemption." The letter "O," for example, stands for Orange Julius, a smooth, fruity mix of Stoli vanilla, orange juice and pineapple. And just like the bar itself, a full menu of American- and Asian-inspired foods seeks please.
