best cuts 8/3/2006

I recently got my haircut done at the panyc salon, and its never looked better. Friendly, consistent, really no complaints. Been there 4 times already Pros: sincere, caring, wants you to look great more

great cut 8/3/2006

My hair has always been difficult. I went from salon to salon telling stylists the cut i thought i needed. These ideas would come from pictures in magazines, cosmo, movies etc., and time after time, the cuts i got seemed to me to be the same thing, that is, i didnt feel pretty... MY HAIR DIDNT MAKE ME FEEL HOT!! I thought i was cursed to a life of unflattering hair, that is until i met Simon at PANYC salon. First of all, he was the first stylist that took a seat right next to me at eye level and talked about my hair and listened to all i had to say about my situation and i didnt feel weird or embarrassed, he made me feel comfortable, like we were both on the same mission to find my 'HOTTIE'. \r We forgot about those photoshop illusions and worked with what I had. The cut was full and vibrant. I felt like claudia cardinale. PANYC ROCKS!! Pros: really friendly, professional staff, great value Cons: PANYC dosent live in my basement more

bland boring haircut. very disappointed. nice people 8/2/2006

i was really excited about trying a new place and hoping i would leave with that great feeling after you have had an amazing cut. i hate to give bad reviews but i feel like there was a misrepresentation on citysearch. there were all these fantastic reviews on here so i thought i could not go wrong. i told him what i wanted and he seemed to totally agree. however he did not make any changes. he did not even blowdry my hair out but just turned it over and blew it dry. it looked so bad. it was still wet when i left. he also did not trim my bangs or layers. he told me he did not need to. the dog people talk about in the reviews was very cute but the salon is kind of dirty, very crowded. i just was not happy at all. i never review places and was hesitant about reviewing this one because i see the manager always responds when anyone says negative things but i keep thinking about what a bad job they did so i had to write something. dont go if you want a good haircut. my stylist was lazy and was more interested finishing that actually doing a good job. they all seemed like very nice people and maybe my stylist was just a dud? Pros: nice people. convenient location Cons: bad haircuts more

Mixed Review 7/12/2006

This is a hard review to write. I was a first time customer with JC, who gave me one of the *best* layered cuts I've ever had. It looked almost as good 3 months after the fact and more importantly I was able to do it myself at home. However, there were some things that didn't go like we discussed. I mentioned at least once that my wedding is next year and I plan to wear it down and long. I specifically said I wanted 1-1.5"" off. It ended up being closer to 3"". I did tell him that it was shorter than I wanted and he asked if my hair grows fast. \r \r Then there were my highlights. Again a good job, but I didn't feel like the end result reflected what we discussed. In fact, I felt like it was very similar to what I came in with and didn't like. Maybe it was a matter of miscommunication somehow. My experience made me hesitant to go back, but I'm considering giving it another try. If I do, I'll post back with the review. more

Best haircut I ever had!!! 6/28/2006

I have been going to this salon since it opened. I get the best haircuts from Paulie and the people who work there are so nice. I have referred at least six of my friends to Panyc and they all love it. Honestly, it is a relief to find a place that you can trust to make you look great every visit. Pros: Consistently perfect more

magic cuts + color genius 6/25/2006

I've been having Paulie cut my hair since i moved to the city 4 years ago - and let me TELL YOU - his are hands down the best cuts i've ever, ever had. I have limp hair that doesn't do anything except get stringy and he has finally given me hair that does what I want. I always get so many compliments on my hair now - and its so easy to fix. And his cuts always grow out beautifully!!! I would never go anywhere else.\r \r And as for Mary Lou - she is a color GENIUS - seriously. The last time I was there I nearly kissed her I was so happy. She is a true professional - one of the very best. She is extremely knowledgeable and spends quality time with you, discussing options and possibilities. She definitely knows what she's doing, I'm so impressed with her work. Pros: highly skilled professionals, totally friendly environment, chris is dreamy Cons: if i tell too many people - it won't be "my secret" anymore more

Panyc Salon is a great place. Totally nice people, very chill and laid back atmostphere. It's a nice change from the pretentious over priced places of NY. All of the people are very welcoming and friendly and they do a great job. By the way, Chris is freakin' hot and I kinda wanted to make out with him the whole time he was cutting my hair. more

PANYC ROCKS 5/17/2006

I have been going to Paulie for my cuts for over 6 years and he always gives me an amazing cut. He has become a great friend and confidant too! Marylou is the best colorist in NYC, she works it like a true PRO! JC, PEANUT are awesome, Cory is hysterical and Chris is great too! I seriously recommend stopping by and meeting these peeps, it is a totally chill, cool environment. Pros: Great Value, Great people, chill location more

Exceptional 5/5/2006

I've been looking to cut my long, thick hair for a while, and have been to several salons in NYC that were just ok. I looked on Citysearch and came across Panyc. Most of the reviews were positive, so I decided to give it a try last weekend not knowing what to expect. Well, it is truly one of the best salons in NYC. The staff was cool, laid back and very attentive. No fake names, no funky outfits, no ridiculous prices and no drama...just real people that know what they're doing. Simon was the person that cut a lot of my hair off , and I didn't cry! I haven't felt this happy about my hair in a while, and I owe it all to Simon at Panyc. Looking forward to getting my hair colored by Marylou (hear she's the best) and getting my hair cut again by Simon. Pros: Friendly Staff, Laid back atmosphere, Talented Staff more

I travel from Delaware for PANYC hair 5/1/2006

Simply the best! Marylou is a color artist; Pauly a hair genius. No wonder this salon is such a success and PANYC comes so highly recommended. I live at Delaware's shore points and won't hesitate to travel to NY for this treatment. It is worth it! Can't say enough about the skill, atmosphere and overall PANYC experience. I love it and can't wait to return. Pros: high quality service, experience, cutting edge Cons: nothing! more

highly recomended 4/26/2006

For the best color of your life go to Mary Lou! I went from a dark brunette to a blonde and love it, plus I get tons of compliments. Not only was Mary Lou proffesional she was honest and had great ideas. I had my cut done by Paulie, who knows curly hair. So if you need a great cut or just a blow out he's the one to go to. more

Simply the best 4/25/2006

Cuts and styles out of this world, professional and precise, great atmosphere but not over priced. Eight of my friends (and some of my family) are Panyc customers and kept raving to me about the place. I went there for the first time and became a regular right a way. Nothing more to add - Simply the best! Thanks Panyc! I love you! :) (and Peanut too!!!) Pros: Professional, Atmosphere, Price more

Won't go 4/12/2006

Too Expensive.\r New York needs to knock off this junior/senior silliness. Just give one price, make it cheap. more

I LOVE PANYC!!!!! 3/19/2006

I can go on and on about this place but you'll really just have to check it out for yourself. I usually am always weary about trying a new hairstylist for fear that I'll walk out with an overpriced haircut that looks nothing like what I wanted...not the case at PANYC...J.C has me walking out of there looking like a million bucks each time...i've never been disappointed...and always recieve tons of compliments...its a win-win situation everytime. It's gotten to a point where when people ask me where I get my hair done...i'm always hesitant to divulge my secret! Trust me...you'll never go anywhere else!! more

Fantastic Cuts for Fantastic Value!! 1/18/2006

Having been all over the city sparing no expense on my hair from Vidal Sassoon to Prive' and every other trendy salon in between, I have never had a better haircut (certainly not for a better price!) ! I received more compliments on Paulie's cuts than on any cut in the last four years! He knows exactly what to do the moment he sees your hair but will also listen and collaborate, he's fast and efficient and fun. The whole salon is a wonderful, warm atmosphere. I've recommended it to all my friends. They're the best! I can't wait to have my color done by Mary Lou! Pros: Inexpensive, Highly Skilled, Friendly Cons: None, None, None more

nothing like it! 1/16/2006

I've never been in a nyc salon that is so welcoming and comfortable and, most importantly, so filled with talent and skill. I've lived in ny for 15 years and been to about a gazillion different salons but as soon as I set foot in Panyc(I stumbled into the old east village location) I knew my days of wandering from stylist to stylist were over. JC cut and colored my hair better than anyone ever had and he's been consistent ever since. I've referred all of my friends there and gotten a few freebies out of the deal. A few of my friends ended up going to Chris and they loved him! and their hair looks great too! You can't go wrong with these guys. Get there today! Pros: No Snobbery, PEANUT! more

THE BEST OF NYC 1/14/2006

I go to Paulie for cuts, Mary Lou for color. THE BEST salon I've EVER found. Paulie's cuts are amazing. He can cut with a razor, it makes the hair fall so nicely. My sis goes to him too. We have many people ask us where we go. Mary Lou is GIFTED. Truly an artist! I've gone from double process, to single process/low lights & now lighter again. She always listens to changes I want, and nails the look! The rest of the staff, JC, Chris, Cory are all so fun. They take care of you and make it a fun appt! The dog Peanut is adorable. If you want your hair to stop people on the street, go! Be sure to take a bunch of business cards on the way out-- your friends, family, colleagues and strangers will all want to know where to get such great hair!! Pros: mary-lou/Paulie, JC/Chris, Cory/PEANUT!! more

Best Salon on NY! 1/13/2006

Paulie, JC, Mary Lou and Chris make you feel like family! They are very skilled, run a great shop and have fun doing it. The atmosphere is always friendly, casual and interesting. The music is great and it's easy to meet people...Bravi! more

Fly in to PANYC! 1/12/2006

Paulie's haircuts are so amazing, and grow out so well that he's still my hairdresser even after I moved to Dallas. He gets it right every time...TRUST! Pros: Amazing stylists, Relaxed atmoshere, Peanut's a Daschund more
