We went for a party and I dont remember that much! How do your spell T E Q U I L A! The frozen margaritas are great and the atmosphere a loud party. The fajita trio - steak,chicken and shrimp are some of the best I have ever had. Also save some room for the tres leches for dessert. We wuill be back soon! Ole! more

Loud music forces everyone to scream in order to converse, seem to cater to an under-35 loud crowd who drink way too much and then start shouting at the top of their voices, seemed AC was broken as it was very warm inside on the night I was there and we were not allowed to sit outside, waiter brought the wrong margaritas at first then brought the WORST NASTY-TASTING strawberry margaritas I ever have had in 50 years! $15 each down the drain! Two sips of mine and I still am trying to get the bitterness out of my mouth after an hour. First visit and DEFINITELY the last. I hate feeling like this when I go to a restaurant/bar. The place is hella fun, the drinks are great, and doesn't hurt your wallet. Highly recommend it! Pros: Prices, great specials, fast service, great food. Cons: Some specials only available for indoor seating and the bar. more

Went to Maracas on Cinco de Mayo because Benny's was full. The wait wasn't terrible and the staff was really nice - from the host to the waitress to the manager to the bus boy. However, this place just doesn't TASTE good and it's expensive! The margaritas are $15 for 23 oz and don't have much flavor to them. I ordered lime and it had no zip, my friend ordered pear and it was pink. The food tasted like the Mexican I can make in my kitchen from a box. It was there, it was fine, but it really wasn't great. Something is missing. The bill was far too high for how mediocre the food was. Almost $40 per person for a drink and a plate of dull Mexican food. Skip this place! So- If you want inexpensive GOOD tasting dinner and bargain drinks- COME HERE! This cute little restaurant serves it up with flair... a littlle much? maybe -but if the decor reminds you of the inside of a pinata then have a couple drink specials.. the cleverly hidden liquor taste will have you repeating ""can i have one more?""- that is IF your waiter hasnt already asked you! But believe me, when you get up to go relieve yourself- the gravity will remind you that , yes, YOU HAVE HAD LIBATIONS TODAY! The waiters have always been soo fun and friendly. This is my new favorite place! I went here for the first time this past Saturday and had a blast. It was college night and we got $3 margaritas ON A SATURDAY! I had the guacamole (that our server made fresh) and the stuffed chicken which were both fantastic. Our server was Jeff, I think that was his name. I could be wrong I had a lot of margaritas. Everything from the staff to the decor was really upbeat and fun. They also do something special if it's your birthday. I won't ruin the surprise, but let's just say I am so coming here for my birthday (and their all you can drink brunch). HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS PLACE SOONER? I went there for their brunch this weekend. The service was horrible. We rarely saw our waitress. We had to ask for her multiple times. She kept forgetting to bring stuff to us and messed up our orders. After we got our bill, it took her 20 minutes to come pick it up. She did not come back with the bill for another 30 minutes and we had to get up and find her. When we received our completed bill, they chargerd every meal on the wrong credit cards. Even though we specifically stated and wrote which meal goes to which card. We will never be dining at this place again and do not recommend it to anyone. Went to Maracas to celebrate a friend's birthday. Everyone had a blast. The food was good and the drinks were very good. Our waiter was also excellent. Will definitely retun. Pros: margaritas, fun atmosphere more

Went here for lunch on a Sunday. First of all we had no utensils and we actually had to get up and get the waiters attention for him to finally bring us forks. The portions are so small that I could have finished it in 1 bite. That would be the case if I actually ate the food. I took one bite and that was it for me. The popcorn shrimp was disgusting! As if they reheated frozen food. The tiny burgers had nasty meat. It was salty and had a musky taste. The margarita was okay, but it was so small. I don't understand the need for bashing a place so badly. Take it from me: the food's good, the prices are far beyond reasonable, the staff is extremely friendly and very compitent, the margaritas are delicious, and the atmosphere is so much fun. more

Last weekend a few friends and I decided to stop at Maracas for their brunch. Their service, food - drinks used to be excellent but now they are back at square one. To summarize the experience: 1) 30 minutes before the waiter even came to greet us 2) THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO CHARGE $3.00 DOLLARS FOR EXTRA CHIPS AND AN OVER CUMIN FLAVORED, WATER DOWN SALSA! 3) Waiter got order wrong or perhaps kitchen 4) They monitor time at table so they save on the ""All you can drink scam brunch"" 5) Used the cheapest tequila possible to make Margaritas - we all know good tequila and mixer does no a yellow margarita make 6) Staff lack customer service skills - perhaps it's not staff but the MANAGER since it starts at the top 7) Ground beef poured over the tostada salad looks like Alpo with water 8) Water glasses are spotty - PLEASE USE CASCADE! 9) Utensils are tarnished 10) Get rid of those UGLY GREEN PLASTIC table covers = TACKY! So if you wish to waste your money - this is the place to come to or you may decide to take the time to research and indeed find BETTER Mexican places as we have which are truly worth the money we need to work for so very hard these recession days. I met some friends here for dinner and drinks after work. Drinks - good. Food - some of the worst food I have ever eaten. The chopped meat (whatever they call it, it is sloppy-joe like) taco was inedible. And funny, they required a credit card to make a reservation. When I got there I expected a nice place, not a glorified restaurant bar, which is what it is. Go for drinks, not for food. Pros: outdoor seating Cons: terrible food more

Kicked off a bacholorette party dinner at Maracas on Saturday evening...and what a kick off it was! Colleen, one of the managers not only assisted with the stress free preparations but ensured a stress free time with festivities that included spinning disco globes, Mexican sombreros, and without request played the song ""Going to the Chapel!"" What a celebration when the entire restaurant stops to sing along with you! Drinks were strong but good, food was delicious...the stuffed chicken is a must try that was recomended by Raul a hottie waiter with a killer smile and excellent service! Everything about this place from the management, service staff, to other patrons was certainly something to keep coming back for! more

I had a birthday dinner here in June on a Tuesday and I was very pleased! The atmosphere is really fun and the food is good/reasonably priced. It wasn't too loud but not too quiet either. The drinks were delicious and very nicely decorated. Their birthday package including a tequila shot, a cake, and a sombrero was really fun! more

It amazes me why places go from bad to good and then go back to being terrible. It is true what other reviews say about Maracas now days. THEY have the nerve to charge $3.00 dollars for additional chips and salsa. Next time (if there is a next time) I will bring my own bag of chips and salsa that does not taste like you are swallowing bags of cumin. Can someone tell the Salsa maker at Maracas to check his/her taste buds? The food is lousy. I ordered that tostada salad and though I had requested the Chicken one I received the beef and it look like ALPO poured over lettuce! The prices have gone up for the brunch and that is cool BUT do the service and food have to suffer as well? The waiter was nice and attempted to be accommodating but at the end the experience which used to be a good has returned to being a horrible one. There are indeed better places in NYC than Maracas ....too bad management seems to be changing the place so often.. This place if full of energy. It's a relaxing atmosphere and the prices and food is very good. I have been here a few times and always enjoy it. I always have the flautas, which always leaves me wanting more. Great for large groups and parties. Pros: Cheap tasty Food more

I went here for the first time in July and again this past weekend. Both times we celebrated a friend's birthday. We had the same waiter (Nino) both times and he was a great, sweet, and knowledgable server! He even recommended a dessert for us to try (I don't know the name of it but it tasted like warm nacho chip shaped cinnamon toast crunch with ice cream on it. Ask for it, it's amazing.
