I've organized a surprise birthday party for my wife's 30th birthday and Katra was just the perfect place to be. All our guests loved it. The music was very diverse (Hiphop, RNB, Rock, etc...) anyway the DJ tried to satisfy everybody and we had a blast. Chris (The manager) and the rest of the crew were absolutely amazing and very helpful from begining to end and we'll definitely go back there again. more

I celebrated my birthday at Katra last Saturday. I was very skeptical of Katra when I made my reservation. I had never been there and it was tiny, but being that I just moved to New York and this was the only place someone recommended to me I had no choice. My girls and I came in and we were catered to immediately, we were placed in the best cabana. The dj KILLED it all night....played the best music. I ordered the premium package with TONS of alcohol and lots of appetizers and a hookah. I really can not say anything bad about this place. All the staff was great, Chris was great about helping me make my reservation. The waitress and waiter were very considerate of our needs and were always available. The only bad thing about this place is that it ended and I still wanted to party! Best birthday ever! more

I must say, that I love Taj, I have the best time everytime I go. If you are thinking about throwing a party you have to contact ED/NorthernStarEvents. I have been to clubs where you make a reservation and you get there and they act like they don't know who you are. Well not with ED, the first time I went to Taj was for my birthday, and I went back for Holloween, I am having another party there for with ED as the promoter. Thanks again NorthernStarEvents. more

Ed was a fantastic host when I hosted my party at Katra. He was very enthusiatic and very involved with the actual event. Overall, I wiil continue to refer Ed to my friends and family. Keep up the good work Ed!!! more

I was celebrating my sisters 24th birthday and needed a sophisticated venue to have fun with the girls. Edward Van-Ess from Northern Star events directed/planned a joyous night for us at Katra Lounge. The place was absolutely beautiful. The atmoshpere was very chic with dim lighting, a great crowd of party goers and the Dj was awesome. The bartender and customer service was exceptional. I would recommend patrons to visit the lounge on a Saturday night. We had a blast and will definitely set up another night on the town at the same spot with Northern Star Events. Enjoy!!!! more

I threw my best friend's 30th birthday celebration at Katra and it was amazing. I was searching for some place to do the celebration that would compliment our style. Edward Vaness told me about Katra Lounge and he offered his services as an event planner. I was kind of concerned b/c I am an event planner and I didn't want to let anyone else plan my best friend's event. I decided to talk with him about it. Well I am glad that I left the planning in his capable hands. He did an exceptional job and we were all pleased with the way the party came out. Ed was very attentive to our parties needs. He made sure that we didn't feel stressed. I told him that I will be doing more events at Katra. The whole Northern Star team took care of us. My best friend was so happy and thankful. Ed, Northern Star Events, & Katra Lounge keep up the good work. I will be back for all my other parties. more

I celebrated my 23rd birthday at Katra Lounge with the awesome help of the best event planner - Edward Van-Ess of Northern Star Events! I had such a blast! I had nothing to worry about besides having a great time! Edward took care of every detail including my VIP section with my group of friends and our bottle service. He even showed up at the venue to make sure my special night went smooth. Everything about Katra was awesome including the diverse crowd & great selection of music! I even got a personal Happy Birthday shout out from the DJ! And I also got the opportunity to meet the owner of Katra, who was a very nice man. I would go back to Katra in a heartbeat! more

A group of us celebrated my cousin's 25th birthday here at Katra Lounge. WE HAD A BLAST!!! The back area leveled higher than the bar area was reserved for her guest. The service was great from the door, to the waitess( who handled everything so well including the cake), VIP security (real gentleman by the way. He held all the ladies hands helping us up/down the steps), etc. The dj played all types of music. The crowd was mixed and far from hood. Food was tasty and drinks kept coming. All that was left over was packed nicely to take home. Special thanks goes out to the event planner, Edward Van-Ess. Without him this would not have been possible especially on short notice. If you need some locations, ideas, or group events, he is definitely someone to lookup on facebook. This is definitely a spot to hit up for any occasion, even just out on the town!!! more

I celebrated my 25th birthday at Katra and I had a great time! 1st off this was literally my first ever birthday party but fortunately for me I met the greatest event planner ever, Mr. Edward Van-Ess! Edward was so involved and not only did he pick the venue but he really customized the experience as a whole for me. His company, Northern Star Events offers you an E-Flyer customized for your event as well as a promo/teaser video to build up anticipation for your guest list. He also makes sure to be at your event and is on hand to deal with any situations that may occur... When I arrived at Katra I was quickly set up, the waitress was very friendly, the DJ was great, I danced the night away. I had unlimited birthday shout outs all night and Katra is as good looking in person as it is in the pictures. All in all my friends had a great time and we still talk about it now, Katra has earned a spot on out "to go" list more

Threw a birthday party there for my boyfriend's 30th this past weekend and it was really great. I worked with Chris, and he really was a class act. From the day I contacted him until the day after the party, Chris was very professional and made sure that the party went off without a hitch. The music was great, the VIP area was perfect for our group and the service was fantastic (we had bottles, birthday cake, food!). Chris even made sure that my boyfriend's mom was treated with extra special attention when she arrived at the club! Katra is a great place to throw a party and just generally have a good time. We had an event for our group here two weeks ago and normally I do not waste my time writing reviews but I feel Katra does deserve one. From Ariel taking care of our reservation in the office to Megan and Celseste our servers we have not felt so special and treated with such professionalism in forever. The food was amazing and the drinks were tasty and strong. The dj played everything and really made out party. Finally Kris the Manager was on top of everything and made sure all our needs were taken care of and was amazing to deal with. I would recommend Katra to anyone for a party as they give you exactly what you want and need more

A Pleasant Surprise--- I decided to give in and see what Katra's After-work Tuesday was really about after hearing rave reviews from several associates. Enjoying a relaxing drink and tastey Mediterranean food set the mood for the always ultra-funny and always eventful Karaoke that takes place every tuesday. A few drinks in your system and undeniably your bound to crack up from laughter with the ultra friendly crowd and their amazing renditions of all kinds of songs! The guy Dezz is the host and he had on this blonde wig...PURE COMEDY! ***ULTRA PERK*** Katra offers AMAZING drinks specials all night like 2 for 1 on anything! event shots and stuff! can we say awesome! Perfect way to start off the week and unwind before the week even gets into full swing! more

Katra was an experience, from the day my husband I went to check the lounge out for his Sept bday party to the actual event. The "Experience" started when we met Chris (the owner)who told us all the details of booking an event and what to expect, he was very down to earth, funny and now that my event has passed I can add honest. Everything he promised was delivered that night I have been to almost evry NYC spot you can think of but when I walked into Katra the ambiance set it apart; no it's not a huge mega NYC club but it is just right for any event you can think of sans the typical nightclub owner attitude where they want you to sell your soul to be guaranteed a decent night for you and your guest. We booked the VIP room and all my guest were treated like VIP we had our own private area that was kept private by a dedicated bouncer just for our area. Our hostess Celeste was nothing short of "Amazing" she was very attentive the best hostess I've ever had all my guest commented on her professionalism and sexy ittle 2 step whenever she brought out our bottles with sparklers attached for added effect for the birthday boy. Bottom line Katra was a blast from the owner to all his satff, I could go on forever about this place I never write reviews but this place definitely deserved one!!!!!!! Good Job,Chris ;) more

Don't expect a quiet cute restaurant... It's a great alternative for those that don't like clubs but need more energy than your classic sit down restaurant. Bring a date or friends and they'll love the good music and the ability to chat with new people. Expect very week mixed drinks so choose your poison wisely. The music, scene and atmosphere truly make it an upscale bar restaurant for party people. more

We celebrated my daughter's 21st Birthday party and we had such an awesome time. Chris and Ariel was so awesome to work with. They delievered everything they said and then some. The food was excellent and the drinks was amazing (thanks Mowglie!!!) Our server Vanessa was over the top and the rest of the waiters were polite and attentive all night. My daughter still cannot stop taking about the great time her party was. The really made it a day she will never forget. Family and Friends are still talking about the wonderful time they had! Can't wait to have another party there. Way to go Chris and Ariel!!!!! more

Katra is one of the best establishments in the city!!! I just through my birthday party there and the staff was AMAZING!!! Not once did I have to worry b/c they handled everything as promised, the party was LIVE, DJ was incredible, and all of my guests including myself had one of the best nights this year to date!!! I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to throw an event and will continue to party there in the future!!! AWESOMEEEE!!! more
