Poor Quality and Customer Service 12/20/2010

I purchased over 5,000 of furniture from Jensen Lewis two years ago. A Round White Lacquer Dining table, a White Lacquer entertainment console, and a White Lacquer Dresser. They delivered the dining table damaged, it had marks from the plastic and did not come out. They sent their 'furniture inspector' to see this, and agreed with me it was damaged. Weeks later they sent a replacement. I did not see any markings, and I signed the delivery slip. Two weeks later, when I was dusting I saw there was a chip on the table, and called the manager of the 16th street store, and he was rude, saying that I did it. I explained I have not even used the table yet, as I only use it when I have company, and he basically blew me off. Now after two years, my entertainment unit is peeling! There is a print on the doors, and this print is chipping and peeling away. Though the unit is stunning, it is poor quality. The dresser thus far is fine, and clearly made by another vendor of Jensen Lewis. Their prices are reasonable, but the quality is poor. For the manager to be so rude, is another issue in itself. Try Room and Board for much better quality and Customer Service. I regret my purchase and will never deal with Jensen Lewis again. more

Contemporary and Utilitarian 7/8/2010

Went into Jensen-Lewis on a busy Friday looking for a sofa and an entertainment center. Found both there and they had it in stock for delivery the next week. Delivery went smoothly, even through a tight doorway the walls remained unscathed! Would highly recommend Jensen-Lewis to anyone who is looking for Contemporary Furniture with quality and purpose. Pros: service, selection, quality, quick delivery more

Right on 5/10/2010

Not sure why everyone is saying that Jensen-Lewis is overpriced. I checked online and couldn't find anyone cheaper for Calligaris. I didn't look at anything else so it's hard for me to say if anything else was overpriced, but i'd doubt if it was. more

Overpriced for the type of furniture. 12/26/2008

I'm surprised but i've not seen this comment in other reviews. Perhaps I was looking in the wrong place? But I feel that JL is very expensive for the type of furniture. Most sofas are 6k+. At such prices there are several others who do a much better job. Eg: maurice villency. Pros: good selection for small spaces Cons: quite expensive. more

Great Modern Table Options with Quick Delivery 11/1/2008

After searching many stores and the internet, I could not find the perfect dining room table for our small apartment. Finally at Jensen-Lewis I found several modern tables with a self-storing extension leaf. We finally settled on a table that happened to be in stock but for special order chairs they would have taken 12-14 weeks so we decided to wait (a lot of these items are Italian made). But the table we ordered on a Sunday and it was delivered to our place 5 days later! A quick smooth process. Pros: quick delivery on in-stock items Cons: 12-14 weeks on special order items more

Worst service 4/29/2008

The only pros are the nice pieces they have. Pros: Nice furnitures Cons: Incredibly poor customer service for the price paid more

Terrible service 12/18/2007

I don't how Citysearch came up with a 4 1/2 star rating for this place when the 5 reviews preceding mine average under 3 stars. Is that an ""editorial"" review? Although Jensen Lewis has nice pieces, as others have stated, the prices are high, and the service becomes extremely poor once a credit/charge card number is provided. Pros: Nice furniture Cons: Terrible service, rude and unaccommodating sales people more

Nice Furniture, great sales person - appauling delivery & repair services 5/25/2007

Before moving into our new home we visited several stores to find modern & unique furniture for the kitchen (a table and high bar chairs). Jensen had an excellent selection and our sales person was fantastic - he was thoughtful, fun and did not over sell us. Even though not the cheapest around we still we placed an order understanding there would be some lead times. Pros: Variety & fun Cons: ..if it's fauly, don't expect a quick repair! more

Great shopping experience! 11/26/2005

We went in looking for a dining table and we left with a dining table, chairs, sofa and cocktail table! All this for the price of just a dining set that we were looking at in another store! Our salesperson was very helpful and they had just the style a loft apartment in NYC deserves. Very colorful and fun modern furniture. Highly reccomended! Pros: Quality, Price, Selection more

happy experience 8/10/2005

I had a very good experience here. My husband and I bought our bedroom set here. I found the person that we worked with (Mark) to be very knowledgable and kind. He happily worked with us for a while, and we never caught the ""attitude"" that the other reviews have described. The delivery of our furniture went very smoothly, and we are very happy with our choice. I would shop there again and have recommended other friends to shop there as well. more

Condescending Customer Service 3/8/2004

I wish I had read the other reviews before I made my purchase at Jensen-Lewis! The service was great till we gave our credit card number. After that it was disasterous. Rude and condescending!! I would not recommend shopping here to any of my friends. And as the previous shopper suggested, go to Basics across the road!! They are great...better furniture at cheaper prices and definitely politer service! Cons: , Rude, Insulting more

Try Pottery Barn or Basics 1/16/2003

With the economy at an all time low & the last thing one would be buying at this time is home furnishings you'd think they'd treat you better. I never in my life been so poorly treated, especially by one who claims to be the store manager. Originally I was told it would take 2 weeks to get my dining set, it took 6. It shows up, without applogies DAMAGED! I call for a replacement and AGAIN do not recieve an appology. They only ship half my order and state if I want the other portion I HAVE TO PAY ADDITIONAL SHIPPING! When I refuse to pay shipping he tells me to come to the store and pick it up myself. With so many home furnishing stores in Chelsea, do yourself a favor, walk past ""JL"" and try Basics which is across the street, Crate and Barrel, or ABC Carpet. Cons: rudest staff, poor customer service more
