Comprehensive Approach to Mental Health 5/18/2007

I have been in the field of Chinese Medicine for many years as a pharmacist, educator, and practitioner. Healing and Prevention is one of the very few Chinese Medicine practices that is specialized in anxiety and depressive disorders. Stacey VanGorder, the chief clinical practitioner, was one of the first in our profession to distinguish herself and her practice with in depth knowledge of mental health from both Western and Chinese Medical perspective. Her reputation and dedication in this specialty has many of us in the profession referring her patients with these special needs. Pros: comprehensive approach, beautiful clinic, psychiatrist on staff... Cons: parking non-existent more

Acupuncture/Healing Deluxe! 5/5/2007

I first consulted Stacey about a year and a half ago after being diagnosed with Graves Disease, an autoimmune disorder associated with hyperthyroidism and eye problems. I didn't want to follow the Western medical recommendations of my endocrinologist because the choices (medication or radiation) had side effects associated with them and I didn't have many symptoms. Stacey was willing to take me on and do whatever she could to improve my condition. She began acupunture treatments and herbal medicines and began encouraging me to make dietary and exercise changes that also could help. At each visit, Stacey was patient and attentive and took time to talk with me prior to the treatment to assess and address stress from daily life, my condition and the changes I was attempting to make. Stacey is gentle, but determined, and creates a safe and supportive environment for you to get help with whatever difficulties you may be having. She takes a holistic approach and in my case, her efforts really paid off. My doctors are surprised and impressed at the positive results, which are proven by improvement in all the relevant measures in lab tests. I highly recommend Stacey as a practitioner with a wonderful presence and the skills to match, and with the results to prove it! Pros: Effective, affordable, supportive, accessible by public transportation Cons: Not always covered by health insurance depending on your plan more

Total turnaround 3/18/2007

When I first start seeing Stacey, over three years ago, I was suffering from quite a few ailments, one of which was chronic neck pain. It was so severe that I had almost no range of motion; couldn't sleep at night; and, eventually, the constant discomfort affected me emotionally. Over time, Stacey's treatments resulted in a total turnaround. I like and respect her philosophy and can always count on her support and willingness to research anything we talk about, from a particular conditiion to a vitamin or herbal supplement. \r Most important, I trust and like her as a person. I continue to see Stacey every few weeks to maintain good health in both body and mind. Pros: The treatment rooms are quiet, clean, and peaceful. more

Thank YOU 3/15/2007

When I went to see Stacy after I woke up with horrible pain in my low back and I was stiff all over. I felt better after the first treatment, because the pain changed. It moved from my low back to only on my left side. After the next treatment it moved further up my back, but the pain was less over all. After the third treatment I had no pain, it is so amazing. I still have a treatment every six weeks to keep my body in check and so far so good! Pros: Clean, comfortable environment more

A blessing 3/12/2007

I have suffered from depression for most of my life. I am on medication to combat it, but as many people know, it is not a savior. Stacey Vangorder has been the real savior in my life, a constant support, and a consistant strength. She is a blessing. The more people that stacey can reach, the better off this world will be. more

Transformational! 3/10/2007

My wife has been visiting Stacey for some several months for Rosacea treatment and has seen truly transformational results in this time. In addition to the acupuncture treatments, Stacey offered consultation on diet and prescribed herbal treatments to remedy the condition. The redness and breakouts that my wife was suffering on her face are now far less frequent and not as extreme as before; almost back to normal.\r \r I recently started my own treatment for weight loss and irratability, and I have been very happy with Stacey's approach to healing. She takes time to under the broader circumstances of one's life that may impact health, and has a very comforting manner when discussing treatment and setting the weeks' goals. I'm still a bit chunky and surly, but I've only just started and feel that Stacey's continued support will help me to meet my goals. Pros: highly knowledgable, warm manner more

Focus 3/7/2007

Focus was something that I needed, but I began seeing Stacey for back pain. After three sessions the back pain was gone and we moved on to making me happy. I didn't realize I was living in a semi-depressed state for so long. She showed me that I could be happy and find new interests and goals in my life. She gave me ""homework"" every week to ease me into doing things differently. Before I new it, people were telling me that I was glowing. I lost some weight, had more energy. Between Stacey and ""my alternative"" fertility specialist, I felt fulfilled. I still see stacey every few months to remember to stay focused on life and boost my immune system. She has become a constant support system in my life. Pros: nice, clean and quiet clinic more

Best Acupuncturist Around 3/6/2007

I was recommended to Stacey by a co-worker. I had cronic problems with an aching knee. I was very impressed with her skills as a practioner. Her bed side manner was very professional. I was nervous and didn't knowing what to expect, but Stacey totally put me at ease by telling me what to expect The treatment was very successful. I still felt some discomfort (from the original ache, NOT THE TREATMENT) after the treatment, but the next day I was totally amazed at the difference, my knee nolonger ached. I would definately go to her again and would recommend her highly to anyone. She is also a very nice person. Pros: Quiet private room, comfortable suroundings and atmospher, very affordable. more

BEST Acupuncturist in NYC 2/21/2007

I was so scared of needles, but Stacey was highly recommend by my friend for her acne problem and she looked great, so I had to give it a try. I'm an actress and my face is my business. It felt strange at first, but I wasn't scared after a while. She put me on Chinese herbs to treat my skin internally too. It has been three months and my skin is turning around. I don't have large cyst-like pimples and my overall complexion is so much clearer. I've also had amazing energy and lost five punds as an added bonus! \r Thanks Stacey! You're the Best! Pros: Abience, Service, Cost more
