David from Expressway Music did a great job dj'ing our wedding. We really had a wide range of guests and he managed to get everybody on the dance floor - from our twenty something cousins to the groom's 85-year-old grandfather to everyone in between. He also played ethnic music like we requested and everyone really enjoyed it. Not only did he listen to what we wanted and didn't want, but he was also able to get the groom's weird requests in. The volume was great all night earning compliments from our guests (it was loud enough to dance to yet guests were still able to have conversations without shouting). more

I was obsessed with planning my wedding. I was so nervous about the DJ after being to so many typical weddings. I wanted someone who could figure out what the crowd wanted while playing music from the 80's and 90's that I love. After googling ""awesome 80's dj"" and having David and expressway pop up I gave them a call. After one conversation, which was mainly about the movie the wedding singer, I knew I had to book this company. I used them for my ceremony, cocktail hour, and four hour reception. They basically had to be there all day, and their prices were very reasonable for all of their work. As a bride, you have to be extremely organized. Expressway music immediately sent me an online form to fill out online. This form was heaven for me! We got to pick all the songs for the ceremony, all the entrance songs, first dances, everything....and that form made it super easy as you could click on a button and hear any song you typed in. It just made me know that every detail would be taken care of and I didn't have to worry. Did I mention, his database has every song you could think of!!! Also, we got to pick our do not play and must play songs. So after emailing all the info and songs we already picked out, we met with David to go over every detail. When we walked into his office we were greeted by these great vinyl records of Madonna and Bowie hung on the wall and I knew we had made the right choice. Everyone in Expressway was great and easy to talk to. The meeting was fun and professional, and I wished we could have talked about music and concerts forever. So finally the big day came. I had no worries as David and his assistant came early to set up the three different places they would have to be. It helped that David had worked a few weddings there in the past. The ceremony went exactly as planned. Cocktail hour music was great! Then came the party.... Everyone was up dancing. David played a great mix of everything. People were talking about how great my DJ was for months after. My guests wanted the exact playlist of the night cause it was so fun, but we just let David work his magic. David and his company are super nice, fun and just a pleasure to work with. I think everyone should hire David and Expressway if they want a great DJ with music for everyone and to just have piece of mind that the wedding will go smoothly! more

We hired David to be the DJ at our wedding (4/23/10). My wife and I wanted a DJ who knew how to put down the microphone and let the music speak for itself; David completely delivered. Where appropriate, he made announcements to the guests about this or that, but it was all about the dancing at our reception. He did a remarkable job mixing genres, creating themes to different portions of the night, and keeping the party going. I had several guests ask me for the exact playlist to the wedding, so that they could repeat it at theirs--there was no set playlist! We gave David some guidance as to our likes and dislikes, and he ran with it. Others asked if he'd travel to the West Coast to do their events. This was a a crowd of different ages, backgrounds, and races, and he provided a great time for everyone. Exceeded expectations. David runs a classy operation, acting as a facilitator for the fun. We met with him just once beforehand, and found him approachable and very easy to chat with. We exchanged thoughts about likes/dislikes for music, gave him a list of what we'd like to hear, maybe like to hear, definitely not want to hear, and he took it from there. He has an extensive database of music to choose from, and is happy to supplement it with special requests. I can't imagine the evening having gone better for us, and David is a big reason why. My daughter just last week had her Sweet Sixteen at the Water Club. I hired Expressway Music to play the music for the evening. Dan Kingman was the DJ for the evening. Except for talking with David and meeting with Dan on one occasion, I hired him. He was the most amazing DJ ever. The music was totally incredible. The kids were dancing all night long. They made me feel so comfortable. I could not have hand picked the music better. I also had a dancer, Michael, for the evening also from the same company. He was the best, sweetest guy ever. The kids loved him. He had them all out on the dance floor. He mingled with everone. more

I attended a wedding at the International House on Riverside Drive in Manhattan where David Swirsky, Owner of Expressway Music was the evening's DJ. When I say his music was nothing short of brilliant, I wished I had a CD filled with his musical choices for the evening. Apparently, he was given carte blanche to play the genre of music the Bride and Groom requested. He was Spot On! with every venue of the evening. The music throughout dinner was beyond amazing and the evening was flawless and magical from the Music's point-of-view. If you are reading this, I would recommend David at Expressway Music if you need a brilliant musician who can communicate to your soul, your friends and family through music! Sure, great hors d' oeuvres are important! But in the end, memorable parties are ALL about the energy & music! I attend many events because of my work in public relations. Dave and his team at Expressway Music clearly stand out among the rest. What sets them apart ? When Dave is at the helm, the dance floor is never empty! That's because he's paying attention to the crowd! So many Dj's have their music lined up before they even reach the venue. Dave listens to your needs, however, he also carefully gauges what the crowd responds to! I have hired Expressway Music for multiple professional functions, my own parties and have referred him to friends & colleagues with the utmost confidence. Seriously - no one has ever been disappointed! Pros: Fun, Reliable, Professional, Makes every party memorable! Cons: Pricey, but you get more than you pay for!! more

David makes even the worst singer feel like an American Idol winner. The karoake on-line concept is excellent in that an unbelieveable number of song choices are available to the singers. The only drawback is the inability to play discs singers bring in for those rare, hard-to-find songs. Otherwise, Expressway Music always makes a great party. Jack and Ray are also excellent hosts as well as wonderful performers. Helene and I will be regulars at Muldoon's as long as Expressway Music, Dave, Jack, and Ray are there. I am the manager of a corporate conference center in New York State. We use Expressway Music for all of our in house events... (dj, karaoke, live music, etc.). They are consummate professionals, and in the years I've personally been working with Expressway, they've never caused me any undue stress, which is invaluable in my line of work.
