Wow 8/15/2008

Check out The Dugout! I have always loved that place! From the staff to the motif it's a place that always makes me feel welcome and like I'm home. I suggest coming down to the end of the street...it's worth it! The Sunday beer blast is awesome...too many men to choose from! I also love the Friday MetroBear night. For you guys that like a real man, come and check these hotties out! i'll be there thi weekend, you should too! more

Improvements being made, but the PRICES? 7/20/2008

Okay, I applaud the new management at Dugout - very approachable and friendly, and willing to try new things, which the place has needed for a while. However, I was astonished when the bartender said that a round of 4 mixed drinks would be $80. EIGHTY. DOLLARS. They weren't no-name brands, but EIGHTY DOLLARS? $20 for a vodka and OJ in a plastic cup? REALLY? That's simply insane. Also, the jukebox has GOT to go. If we have to spend one more night listening to that tired old queen's selections as he stands in front of the jukebox smirking, it'll be our last. more

Beyond a Comeback! 6/9/2008

Seems the new manager is listening to the customers. Drink specials, new nights, special events that actually sound like fun...I'm going back. I had a great time this past Friday and Sunday night, met the new guy (a lifetime bear member with real cocktail expertise--Woo Hoo!) and I'm really looking forward to the "new" old favorite. Just wondering what took so long? Welcome back Dugout! Pros: Comfortable, friendly, cruisey, good prices, hot crowd Cons: none anymore more

Worst gay bar in New York 5/9/2008

The Dugout is a horrible place. It has no charisma, no charm, no nothing. I went there in May and was greeted by this fat African barman who was incredibly rude and stupid and almost ruined my evening. Apparently, the fat guy was more interested in watching movies on his PC than doing his job and serving the customers. Unbelievable. Pros: none Cons: service more

WOW.... 3/23/2008

What a BEAR BAR!! The Dugout was amazing, went to celebrate a friend's bday and got MUCH more than we expected! Guys, check this place out! The atmosphere was so nice, everything about this place exceeded our expectations. We look forward to coming back soon. Pros: Bear Bar! Atmosphere, crowd, etc... Cons: none more

New look! Take a look! 4/13/2007

The Dug Out has finally been redone! They have put in flat screen televisions, took the overhang off the bar, which makes it appear larger, and we all like larger! Mirrors have been added behind the bar, it lhas an industial look to it, which is kinda cool. I here the bathroom is going to have a really big surprise in it soon!! I know what it is but I have to keep it a secret. I think you should stop in and keep checking for it. Oh, there is also a male wall in the back....really nice to look at! The patrons are encouraged to bring in pictures of themselves to put up on the wall. Now that can be very interesting!! Come on you yummy guys, stop in for a drink! The people asre friendly, the men are hot, and the bartenders are even hotter......check out Danny....yummy! Pros: Very friendly, cozy, fun more

Still going strong! 9/20/2005

Its been a few years and its lost some of its thunder to the Eagle, but Sundays at the Dugout still go on. A great crowd of regulars and friendly visitors stop by between 4:30 & 9:00 on Sunday afternoons, swill back a lot of beer, hang out and meet up, before heading on to other places. Some great looking big daddies, too! Pros: Beers, Daddies, Crowd more

Was visiting NYC last year and heard about this place. Not a bear myself, but I can appreciate a beefy, hairy man as much as the next guy, and i was not disappointed. it was packed on sunday evening for the beer bust at about 6pm, with bears of all shapes and sizes spilling out onto the sidewalk. everybody seemed very friendly, too. definitely worth a visit. Editorial
  • With red neon and trophies scattered everywhere, the decor is classic butch gay bar. Rec room paneling and brick--no fuss, no muss. You certainly won't find any ferns, and that's just the way this laid-back, friendly crowd likes it. The CD jukebox is heavy on the Led Zeppelin and the televisions are always on. There are peanuts up on the bar for snacking, but that's as far as the amenities extend. The two bathrooms in the rear of the bar, both marked gents, are a dead giveaway as to the boy-girl ratio, but women are welcome.
