Horrible Saturday night at the frat hous 10/6/2002

Saurday night was crowded and annoying. The crowd looked like a bunch of clones with some sort of uniform and every guy had the same hair cut. Very dry crowd, it took forever to get a drink and nobody was dancing to the somewhat decent music. They were all trying to talk over it. Definately not a good weekend spot if you're looking for some place with any character. Pros: Music was decent Cons: Not worth it more

a plus for midtown 8/30/2002

Don't quite know why there are ropes...the crowd didn't seem to warrant it. But not necessarily in a bad way. Very little pretention...but maybe a touch too ""former frat-ish."" However, nothing unbearable. The Thursday night band, Yazmin, was quite good. Waitresses were friendly...one even joined the band and sang. A little pricey...but it's midtown, so no surprise there. Biggest complaint: A/C only had ""off"" and ""typhoon"" settings. (Note: we didn't try the many selections of fondue they have...maybe next time) Pros: great music, friendly Cons: A/C on ultra cold more

undiscovered gem 8/23/2002

What a find! I can't believe it's not packed. Incredible R&B band (relatively unappreciated), nice wait staff, good food and drinks. LOTS of room--Can't believe it hasn't gone out of business yet. hope it doesn't.. Pros: R&B band, awesome venue, undiscovered more

Cool Place - Bad Bands 7/11/2002

I liked the drinks, the service, and the atmosphere...UNTIL the live music started. Why would you have (bad) indie-type bands playing in such a nice place like that? They need to just open up a dance floor and get a good DJ. Pros: Good Service, Good Drinks, Cool Decor Cons: (Bad) Live Music more

Thought the place was dingy, unpleasant and not at all as exciting as I thought it would be from the reviews here..We sat upstairs and a band was setting up to play (they, and 5 other people were the only ones there) - we transferred downstairs (which is, indeed, the onlt part of the bar worth seeing) and were kicked out 10 minutes later since it was a birthday party - v disappointing, especially, with not that many other options around that part of the city................ more

What a fantastic place, the decor has been designed to incorporate some of the orginal featured of the bank it used to be. Make sure you go downstairs and check out the vault/bar - saw a great live band there on Thursday night, full of good looking people - always a welcome bonus. more

This place is cool..... 6/2/2002

I have been to Coda a few times and everytime I have been happy, all the servers are very nice and the food is good. The drinks are a little pricy but you don't have to pay a cover so I don't know what everyone is complaining about. everyone should try it at least once. The waitresses are all very nice and good looking so whoever wrote that you should get glasses...... more
