Worst Bar Ever 11/12/2011

Never been to Bourbon street but was horribly disappointed. Beers were way over priced for a dive bar and the bartenders were very disrespectful and mean for such a crappy place. Wouldn't recommend the bar to my worst enemy. Stay away from this place at all costs. more

Bouncer assault 11/12/2010

Tonight I entered the bar around 7pm. I sat on an empty stool at the bar and ordered a drink and proceeded to watch the Knick Game. At about 8:30p a worker comes over and asks me to switch to a stool that had no back rest on it. I told him I would prefer not to because of back issues in addition to an ankle injury that needs surgery in another month. Five minutes later some psychopath bouncer who I assume might be an off duty or ex cop due to the fact he kept asking me ""do you know who I am"" asked me to change stools. I told him I didn't want to. Next thing I know he sucker punches me so to speak by grabbing my jacket and throwing me to the ground. I tried to grab back but realized there were others there just waiting to pounce on me too. He physically ripped my shirt and coat off and threw me onto the street while his cohorts held the door. I was alone. Not a good position to be when in a situation like that . He then threw my cell phone at me which hit me in the face and locked the door. I went back to the door and asked him to try and explain what just happened and he told me he would have me arrested and to go away and I was lucky he didn't punch me. Needless to say this was a terrible experience I had two drinks, was not drunk, and was quietly watching the game alone. The bouncer was not a very tall fellow and apparently sadistically enjoyed appearing like the big tough man of the bar. I want to press charges but then again I figure why not post what happened and just be sure never to go near that place again. I can only hope they go under and he goes back to being the pathetic little coward he is. more

Extortion By Bartenders 11/4/2010

I have been in Manhattan from out of town for the last two weeks. \r \r In these two weeks, I have visited Bourbon Street three times. The first two times were enjoyable. This last time was not - period. \r \r The bartender refused to serve me based on the premise that I did not tip on the first beverage. I am ok with that except for knowing the traditional meaning of tip. Instead, I received an expectation that tip was an underpinning for extortion instead of the insurance of proper service. She then gathered the other bartenders against me to ensure I would not be served again. I was ok with that because it guaranteed no service and therefore no tip.\r \r What I thought was a friendly neighborhood bar proved to be less friendly. \r \r Thought you should know…\r more

Best Place for Twenty-Somethings 9/8/2010

When you go there make sure you know it's filled with a drunk, early-20somethings. If that is your crowd it is the place to be. I've been there with different groups and some enjoyed it while others just wanted to leave. Take it for what it's worth, a divey Upper West Side bar for college kids. Any place with 50 cent beers means that. more

Rude, thieving bar tenders and overall awful management 1/20/2010

Everything about this place was awful from the get go. The $2 cover charge was the only reason my friend and I stayed longer than a few minutes. There was no live music, and the ""50 cent beers"" thing was over, so why a covercharge?\r \r The placed was jam packed, and most of the men I encountered felt it their right to be extra touchy when passing by. If you want to get talked to and hit on by several drunk, sloppy men, then this is the place for you. The bathrooms were gross, stalls were broken. The space was way too small for the amount of people inside, and spilling your drink while maneurvering is unavoidable as people treat every inch of that crowded space as a dance floor.\r \r To make matters even worse, the staff was incredibly rude. My friend and I put four beers between the two of us on a tab. Her bill came to $70. In our haste to leave this place, she signed off quickly without really looking throughouly at the price. The bartender had the nerve to call us back and ask us why we left such a measly tip for a $70 tab which is when my friend stops him and questions the $70. He takes back her license and credit card and shows us a piece of paper with 12 or so dash marks on it. He told us someone ordered drinks on her tab. When she tried to explain it was a mistake on their part, especially since they had a photo ID on hand, he got defensive and asked her why she signed it if it was wrong. Despite our efforts to talk to them about it quietly, we were yelled at and rudely dismissed. They made no attempts to solve our problem and told us to leave. This one blonde chick (who opened and closed our tab) kept throwing her hands in the air yelling at me saying there was nothing to do about it and I'd have to talk to the other guy in charge who he completely ignored me on purpose. I reached out to the bouncer who didn't seem surprised by their rude service, gave me the managers number and apologized. I called the manager several times, left a message and no one ever got back to me.\r \r So in short, if you want to drink beers in a place that's overly crowded, plays bad music, forces you to spill beer all over youself and spend $18 per beer since the staff doesn't know how to keep a tab and will yell at you when you question it, Bourbon Street is the place for you! Pros: the bouncers were great Cons: disgustingly crowded, gross bathrooms, rude & awful service more

Worst Bar Ever!!! 1/18/2010

This use to be one of my favorite bars in that area. Now it's the worst, ever since the change of ""management"" They had the nerve to turn me back because of my dressed code which is understandable... At least thats what I thought until I took a look inside & there where people in there worst dressed than I was! Sorry to break this to you folks... But all I can say is 100% stereo type! At its best in this bar!!! Save your money most of all your time.... Cons: Everything more

My Neighborhood Spooooot! 9/22/2008

Been living on the UWS for 2 years now and drop in Burbon a few times a month...whether it be late night, happy hour or on a Fri/Sat night, there is always something going on...bartenders are always wasted and a great time, girls dance on the bar, can play some pool, watch some games, & even order food and bring it over. Bouncers are great guys and always treat you with respect. The Wed & Thurs Happy Hr's are def a deal with .50 coors & bud's. Def a great neighborhood spot! Keep up the good work! \r \r Pros: Cute Girl Bartenders, Drink Deals, TV's, Pool Table, Good Music, Good Times, Good People! Cons: Sometimes cramped or a lot of dudes but you can try another bar in the area and then come back later more

Greatest Drink special ever!!!!!!!! 10/22/2007

Went on Friday night for the 50-cent Bud draft special. Just as advertised couldn't believe it. Loved the open front and all the TVs. My new favorite spot for Fridays Pros: great drink specials Cons: gets packed more

New employee who was fired that day 6/25/2007

Thanks for the review stating we are worst place based on your one visit , I am sorry that you were subjected to the unprofessional behavior of one of our bartenders. He was in his first week at the bar and was fired on that very same day you were there at 9pm. I can assure you that our bartenders and staff in general are professional and fun. Anyone who has been to the bar can atest to that, I would welcome you to come back and give us another try. We have been in bussiness for 15 years and have taken part in at least 100 fundraisers and other comunity events. \r Again thanks for the tag ""worst bar ever"" we do deserve it for having that nut behind the bar \r Thank you , management Pros: friendly staff , great drink specials , lots of TVs to watch the game more

Cool Bar 4/4/2007

We went to this bar (and a bunch of other's on the Upper West Side) last Friday. We enjoyed this bar the most. The crowd was good looking and friendly and so was the staff. The drinks were pretty cheap and the music was great (mix of rock and hip hop). The bar just seemed to have a good feel/vibe to it. It seemed like everyone was having a great time and we ended up having a great time too. Pros: Location, Cheap Drinks, Fun Mixed Crowd Cons: Crowded, A Little bit of a wait for the girls bathroom more

Crazy and dirty... 11/2/2006

This place is insane! Its a great place to dance and haved a good time, but there is nowhere to sit and they definitely serve you drinks in plastic cups.... Overall I had a good time there and dancing on the bar is a blast! Pros: music is awesome, good dancing Cons: too crowded at points of the night more

Great times 9/19/2006

I've been here the last 4 Years on Sunday for football, great place to chill and watch the games. After the giants sent 3 tables of Eagles fans home upset they paraded an Eagle Mascot around the bar in a Giants Jersery good fun. What the last reviewer is talking about is beyond me. Most Sundays you will recognize the same faces, the people come every week year after year. He might be that Jets fan who wanted to turn off the Giant game, which was in OT so he could watch the Jets. I saw the bartenders throw him out, it was kinda funny. His friends stayed and drank beer the rest of the day, and said he was idoit and always gets thrown out. Again I'm just guessing it was him "" GangGreen "" Pros: Great sunday drink specials, with lots of TVs Cons: Can get crowed more

Awful Management 9/17/2006

Don't waste your time and money on a dump like this where the management is extremely rude and unaccommadating. On an avenue where sports bars and cheap drinks abound, this place does nothing to stand out or welcome its customers This would be the last spot I'd go to on the UWS. Cons: Rude Staff more

Best Keep secret on the UWS 9/5/2006

Amazing sports layout ,plasma TVs everywhere got to watch the Gators! Cheap drinks with cool bartenders i'll be back every week. Pros: great Tvs for sports, Friendly staff, cheap drinks and you can bring in your own food. Cons: Bathrooms need a little TLC more

poor management 6/28/2006

nothing special. mediocre at best. i could've had a better impression of the bar had not the man working outside, who we believe wasnt even a bouncer, said right in front of my friend, ""she's hideous."" (she was Miss. Korea 2005) its one thing to say it behind someone's back, and its another to say it right in front of her face and reply ""oh i was talking about your breasts."" (that wasnt the actual word for 'breasts' that he used but citysearch wouldnt publish the actual word) thats just rude and unproffessional. and as far as i was concerned there was nothing special about the bar to have to be selective with the crowd. everyone inside seemed mainly like underage college kids. i guess its a decent place to stop by for a drink (because it's pretty cheap) before heading out somwhere better. Pros: cheap drinks Cons: cheap atmosphere more

FANTASTIC PLACE 6/28/2006

boy oh boy, what a GREAT time i had there! the waitresses/bartenders were fantastic...including the young man who was roving the bar area. he was so helpful in showing my fellow missourians such a great time...thanks again, i wholeheartedly recommend this establishment. more

Good times 2/27/2006

the UW is full of sports bars and dives alike, with no clear cut lines that divide them; Bourbon St. is a breath of fresh air. call me jaded as I live up there, but it's a good time, with decent drink prices, some awesome specials (weds. and thurs. nights) and the hottest bartenders on the upper west, the girls behind the bar are hotter than Britney Spears in high school. Crazy things happen every time that I have set foot in the place and it is definitely worth a during any UW night out Pros: Drink speacials, Singles scene, Eye candy Cons: Can get crowded more

skip it 2/19/2006

there are a few bars worth visiting on the upper west, and this is not one of them. so if you find yourself walking by, keep walking. we were there last thursday and it was just corny. the music was awful (over played hip-hop and not the good ones), the bartenders were incapable of handling a busy bar, seemed like thirsty customers are not their priority, while the two female were completly rude and snots (yes, the world obviously revolves around them!), the guy bartender was just lame, and the customers should probably be at home studying for their finals, in high school! Pros: drink prices Cons: bad dj, dirty more

I HEART BOURBON STREET 6/26/2005

I love to go here for a crazy night out- dancing on the bar and singing to the popular music that's being played. They just renovated the outside of the bar- added an awning and more bar tables/stools. Great for letting a breeze go through the bar. Pros: good music, hot bartenders, bar dancing Cons: crowded on Saturday more

AWESOME TIME!! 3/21/2005
