I got a beautiful layered haircut, expertly done by Sara-- Not an easy task on my very thick mane. She listened carefully to my concerns, made suggestions, and then painstakingly cut layers to frame my face and show off my waves. And she did a fantastic blowout-- the best I've ever had! While I was in the chair, another customer came in for just a blowout appointment with her, and I can see why. Sara really is a skilled stylist, and very personable as well. The rest of the staff is also friendly and professional. more

Last week I went to Ben David where I was lucky enough to have Sara color my hair! Sara took the the time to listen to my ideas as she made suggestions and advised me of a ""look"" that would work for me. Well, needless to say her expertise was obvious when I was pleasantly surprised by the ""new and improved"" me! I LOVED my hair color!! I have been getting so many compliments on my hair from friends and family. Sara's kind and caring way of pleasing her customer was greatly appreciated. I am happy to have found someone I can trust to do my hair. I highly recommend Sara at Ben David Salon!! more

I received full highlights at the downtown salon, which the stylist left on for far too long. I did not notice the color since my hair was wet upon leaving. When I went home to blow-dry my hair, my highlights were SILVER/GRAY. I called the salon the very next day and spoke with the manager, who refused to offer me a correction color. I didn't understand why I had to pay for a mistake that an employee of this salon had made. I then spoke with the owner who made an appointment with me to ""fix my hair"" the very next day. He called me five minutes after our conversation to notify me that he had spoken with the manager downtown and cancelled my appointment. He stated, ""You shouldn't have asked for COOL-toned highlights"" and basically claimed that my silver highlights were my fault. I convinced him to ""fix my hair"" and received a SINGLE PROCESS dark brown coloring at the uptown salon. The owner mixed the dye, then proceeded to tell me that I needed to pay for the dye job. After arguing with him for about ten minutes, he agreed to do it ""for free"". The hairdresser that he assigned to me took over 50 minutes to put the dye in my hair (it was supposed to be on for 30 minutes). My hair turned jet black and the silver highlights still showed through. The salon refused to give me my money back. I have never had to deal with such unprofessional, rude, and insensitive people before. more

This was my first (and last) appointment at Ben David salon UES. I literally waited an hour and 15 min for my appt while I watched Ben frolic around the salon talking to other customers, talking on his cell phone etc. When he finally put me in a chair he was quick putting foils in. While he had his assistant shampoo me, he took another client and I sat under the dryer for about 45 minutes (30 of which it had turned off so I was just sitting there) and watched him put foils in her hair. He did do a great job on my highlights, but I also got low lights and when I got home I noticed a big brown spot on my bangs where the color must have touched. I'm going to have to get it fixed but there's NO way I'm going back there! While Ben was very nice and definitely has good intentions, he needs some business etiquette and maybe a Ritalin prescription lol. by the way.. it's overly obvious that the reviews below were posted by the stylists themselves. what a freakin' joke. ugh more

I have just had another terrific experience with Maria at Ben David Salon on the Upper East Side and I love looking at my hair in the mirror. The salon is well run, appointments are always on time and pricing is fair and reasonable. But more importantly, the stylists work hard at making you look good. The color services are excellent, and the hair cuts and blow outs are fabulous. Maria, in particular, has been giving me spot on color and cut advice for years. She recommended a keratin straightening which was life altering. She is quick, efficient, and I've been delighted with the result. She is a real find - although I am afraid to share her! Most highly recommended! more

i've been going to bendavid for years! never have i had a complain or a bad experience. i've been doing my hair with maria. she does all my colors, cuts and blowdrys. she's very professional and super quick. i cant imagine doing my hair with anyone else. more

I've had very good experiences at Ben David Salon. I've had cut, color & Brazilian Keratin straightening done there & have never left unsatisfied with any of their services. I go to Meral who is fantastic and so sweet. For the most part, everyone at the salon is friendly. more

I've been going to BenDavid Salon for 6 years, my stylist name is Meagan. She gives me amazing highlights and a beautiful haircut every single time I visit her. I must say she is an extremely talented colorist and stylist. The salon carries Kerastase products, which I love. I recommend Meagan to any woman who wants to look beautiful and in style. Went for a brazilian keratin treatment (which is 300 for shoulder length) but came out with a bad haircut. I don't think I should have been charged in the first place for the hair cut, I didn't even want one. Finally I have found a hairstylist that I can trust in NYC. I have been searching for almost 2 years now for a good haircut. I have curly hair so most hairstylists have no clue. I really just had no idea that a good haircut for curly hair can make all the difference in my appearance. A friend of mine and I decided to try Ben david salon. We both did color and haircut/blowdry. yigal did my hair and fabiola did my friends hair. They were super nice to us, they did exactly what we wanted. The staff there is great, so attentive to they're clients needs. The assistants are always cleaning making sure everything is nice and neat. They made us feel super comfortable and best of all our new colors and haircuts were absolutely fabulous. I just have to say that every stylist in this salon is very profesional at what they are doing. The salon is so well organized and clean. I've had my color done here 4 times already and everytime i get it done here im all smiles. The haircut also is excellent. I just absolutely love this salon. I'm new in town and i was walking by bendavid salon and decided to walk in because they have a walk in special for wash/cut/blowdry for just 65 dollars which is an awesome price. The staff over there are so friendly, they make you feel very comfortable, I told the stylist what i wanted my hair to look like and she gave me a couple of ideas of her own. She made me look fabulous. I've never been so happy with a haircut in my life, this was the first time that I've gotten so many great compliments of my hair. I had done a little bit of research before going here and all the reviews seemed great, their website promoted a 35 dollar walk in wash, cut, and blow dry, so I figured I'd check it out. When I got there, they told me the special price was only for their other location and I had to pay 65 bucks. Okay, fine. I'll do it. I'm willing to put forward a few extra bucks for a good hair cut. I got my wash done, and went to sit in a chair, all the while my stylist talked on her cell phone, and they didn't even wipe off the chair. There was hair clippings everywhere. As I sat down, I realized, they were actually everywhere. Hair had accumulated in their cubbies, and I mean a lot of hair. They probably had never cleaned their cubbies. The scissors or brushes didn't appear to have been cleaned (Didn't notice this until they were cutting my hair) and while I was describing what I wanted done, the stylist seemed condescending and rude. When I asked a couple of questions during the hair cut she snapped at me, and I learned to keep my mouth shut. I should have just left, but I'm not one to make a fuss, so I endured this. Why? I do not know. The hair clippings everywhere should have been a red flag to leave. The stylist actually stopped to answer her phone during the cut too, by the way. I would never go back here. If you do not believe me, walk in there and ask to just look at the place, you'll see all the hair littering the salon, and if they can't take the time to sweep up after a styling, or wipe off a chair for their guest, I'm not taking the time to get my hair cut there. Don't do it. I don't know about their other location but the Upper East Side is horrible! Pros: ??? Cons: Dirty, rude, and over priced more

I've been cutting my hair the same way for the last 8 years or so and Yigal suggested something different when I came to see him. Suddenly I looked much younger, less fat (I got a big face) and he even managed to hide my ever receding hair line. Great job!!! Pros: great haircut and reasonable prices!
