Good place 3/23/2010

Went late on a sunday night. My girl friend didn't like where we were seated and I asked if we could move somewhere else, then, ate salads and apps and we asked to move our seats again. They were very accommodating and polite about it, The house Chianti was good, not sure the name of it, the meal was very good penne alla vodka was a little expensive for a small amount of pasta and sauce. Chicken parm was very good as well, the portion was a good size. Had dessert and wine till close to midnight, were never asked to leave or told that they had actually closed at 11. I thought that was very nice. I would go back again, but may try somewhere else just to get a relative comparison. Pros: Decent food, accomodating, friendly staff Cons: little pricey more

Horrible!! avoid this place. it's one big tourist scam. 12/28/2008

I regularly come to NY to shop and have fun. But tonight I made the mistake of going to angelo's at mulberry. The food is terrible, very very very over-priced, service is awful, in short; a tourist scam restaurant. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Stay away! 12/24/2008

Avoid this place at all costs. Pros: Seemed relatively affordable Cons: The worst service I have experienced in a long time more

HOSTILE SERVICE 11/26/2008

My inlaws wanted to experience authentic little italy so on a recommendation we ended up at Angelo's. While we waited for our table we ordered four cocktails. The price-$45. The six of us were seated in the back with a large party whose kids ran around the dining room. The waiter was very aggresive in trying to take our order and seemingly hostile. When I sampled the wine I pointed out to him that the glasses were hot from the dish-washer and he played dumb even though he had just set them down himself. He did not offer to bring new glasses. When we ordered a new bottle he poured the wine on top of the existing. A busboy put his finger in my face when I asked for olive oil. After our food arrived we did not see any staff until time for dessert which ofcourse we skipped. The prices were very high for what I can only describe as a dump. Empty glasses on the table were never cleared and when we left we walked right past the server and he did not acknowledge us. I feel inclined to mention that I work as a bartender in Tribeca and have been in the service industry for twelve years in NYC. My in-laws are (former and current) judges from Baton Rouge and New Orleans who have very lovely manners (they are senior citizens!!) We know how to behave in public. There is no excuse for the hostile treatment we received. I guarantee any positive review you read regarding Angelo's was written by someone who works there. AVOID AT ALL COST!!! Oh, and incase you were wondering, the food was mediocre. I had the fishy red snapper. Pros: Large Portions Cons: Overpriced, dirty, horrible service more

Best food best atmosphere is great overall we love it. Just get there before the rush. We found getting there by four is the best time 10/21/2008

We have been coming to Angelos for over thirty years. My mother inlaw was the first to take us there. And we have been going ever since. I never had a rude waiter or anything not satisfying to me as far as the food goes. We just love all of it. We go every year for our annivesary as well When we first stated to go my children were very young and we always had a great day. They have the best food. Pros: Thumbs up all the way. We love everything about it. Great food, atmosphere is great. more

Treated like criminals 7/11/2008

I am shocked and outraged I was by the way I was treated at Angelo?s tonight. My husband received a $100 gift certificate from friends for his birthday in February. We decided to use the gift card this weekend, and my husband made reservations for dinner tonight, Friday, July 12, 2008. We had our meal, and went to pay our bill, which was above the gift certificate amount, with the gift certificate and also gave the waiter our AMEX for the additional amount we spent. Cons: Unbelievably bad service more

Whaddya waiting for? 7/11/2008

Delicious, but slightly expensive. We had no wait due when we arrived for a late lunch around 2pm. The waiter, a very tall man, gave us ""plenty"" of time to decide on our food and drinks, but once we had him, he was superb. The host, a very small man, wasn't overly friendly and appeared to avoid us altogether. However, we weren't there to make friends. We wanted to eat, well and large. And, that we did with gusto. The calamari was juicy and tender with a light batter. The eggplant rottalini was stuffed with extra cheese and also very tender. The meatballs were kinda sweet like they were made with roasted red peppers. I liked them, whereas my family did not. We didn't have any wine, just content to be drinking good old NYC tap water and cokes. No time for desserts, either, though we considered some expresso. Their machine wasn't ready. All in all, the food was outstanding and beware the dinner crowds as they were arriving as we were leaving. There isn't much room in the place for seating. Enjoy. more

Best Pasta Ever 4/30/2008

We go to Angelo's for pasta every Sunday afternoon. The food is always so delicious; especially the pasta. We've tried just about every pasta dish and my favorite is the Cappellini a la Angelo - however, the Fusili Bolognese, Linguini a la Vongole, and any daily special pasta is all so good! We eat healthily all week and save our appetites for our weekly Angelo's visit. I can't wait for Sunday! Pros: pasta, attentive service, never leave hungry Cons: cannot stop eating more

VERY DISAPPOINTING..... 4/5/2008

This was not my first time at Angelo. However, it will be my last. The Hot Antipasto dish was actually a sloppy mess. I could not differentiate what I was eating. Was It a Stuffed Pepper or Clam? I was totally confused. The wait staff were quite rude, especially one who actually accused me of insulting him. How dare he.. . I was shocked. No one came to apologize. I also left a decent tip. Why.... I'll never know. It's just the way I am. Angelo of Mulberry St. is no longer on my list of Little Italy Resturants. more

BEST ITALIAN FOOD EVER! 3/18/2008

We love this place, hands down. We are from Cali and when we go to New York this is dinner one of the nights, regardless. Love the waiters - especially Bruno! Atmosphere is great, you feel like you are in Italy. Staff is wondeful, friendly land adorable with their accents (real accents too!). If you don't eat here you are just crazy...Have to try half moon ravioli - it is SPECTACULAR and my husband does the filet with marsala reduction with mushrooms! Very busy - so don't go hungry because this place is ALWAYS packed! Pros: Everything is great! Cons: the wait for a table more

Excellent 1/12/2008

Horrible experience! 12/17/2007

We made reservations 4 weeks in advance for 7:30pm on a Sat night. About 2wks in advance, we called to change them to 9:30pm. Then, 2 days before arriving in NYC, we called to confirm, and everything was supposedly OK. We show up at the right time, and there is no reservation. The host was incredibly rude. Not only did he not acknowledge their mistake, he actually called us liars! We went next door and had a lovely dinner (La Nonna) with none of the attitude. Good riddens Angelo's. Pros: Nothing Cons: Attitude, crowded, and rude. more

What a Joke 11/4/2007

So we go to Angelo's Sat. Nov 3. and ask for a table for two. The host wedges into a back corner where there were 4 tables on top of each other...you couldn't move. Cons: service more

A must see in New York 8/29/2007

Everytime I go back home, I have to eat at New York's best Italian restaurant. I even went to the one in Florida when it was open. The food is a plus, the service is great and the atmosphere is fantastic. Don't expect to sit right away, but it is definitely worth the wait. I would suggest everyone to try this New York Landmark. Great food, nice size portions and they treat you like family. Pros: Food, service, everything more
