Fabulous job. 8/9/2011

I bought the "special promotion" - which apparently everyone else did too. I felt like a sucker when I bought it and even more so when I read all the reviews from the people that had bad experiences with this "deal". But I had already paid, so I decided to try it anyway. So, my experience: Very nice place - have some kind of dance/trance music quietly playing, fashion videos on the various flat screens. The people there were very nice. My assigned stylist - Yolie I think - did a fabulous job. She touched up my roots and gave me a great cut. Very very happy with it and will definitely be back. So, if you bought a promotion and are terrified of you going - don't be. If you don't want any additional services, don't get them. If you want wine - ask for it. more

The reviews scared me 7/29/2011

The reviews scared me, but I went last year before I read them, and I'm really glad I did. I can't speak for everyone, but I love Irina. She's personable, good at what she does and she gave me a great haircut. I've been back several times for highlights and cuts and am always pleased. more

Thanks 7/20/2011

I finally decided to use my promotion, prepared for the worst, and made an appointment... but.. I actually like my haircut a lot. I have very thin, flat hair but now I have many layers and I like the way my bangs were cut. The color is just ok. They gave me a 40% off coupon so I'll probably be going back. Only huge negative was that when the next client arrived, my hairdresser had to work on both of us at the same time. more

I had a great experience with Alfangi 7/14/2011

I had a great experience with Alfangi. I spent $20 on a promotional card and spent the $15 to register on my first visit. The haircut went by pretty quickly, and even though I like to get a bit more time from a stylist, I was happy with the job she did. I appreciate that they offer wine, lemonade or ice tea when you walk in the door. They also offer refills. The second part of the promotion was a mini facial - essentially just an eyebrow wax and a face massage with lotion, but it felt really nice and lasted for a nice amount of time. The massage was nice as well. I would definitely would use the promotion again, I'm just nervous that I would get caught using it twice! more

Scary reviews... GOOD experience! 7/8/2011

Scary reviews... GOOD experience! Went with some friends for a blow-out this weekend, and was able to get the 40% off promotion so the total was $32, not $50 which was great. They serve you drinks when you arrive with your stylist and I got a nice head massage during shampoo. My stylist was Ingrid and she was great... gave me a lot of pointers and spent almost an hour blow drying and flat ironing my curly hair. 3 days later and it still looks great! I finally found a trusted hairstylist and I will be back to see her soon!!! more

best ever 7/7/2011

I was shopping at The Mall at Short Hills and purchased a deal for maybe $150. that included several services. I went to the 5th Ave location across from Lord & Taylor and had cut, style, coloring and highlights done. It was the best ever ; ) I bought my two daughters along and they had the manicures etc, everyone was very happy! more

In a nutshell: Amazing hair/color job, awful facials, great service, beautiful modern salon 7/5/2011

In a nutshell: Amazing hair/color job, awful facials, great service, beautiful modern salon (a 5 if the facial wasn't so horrible). The details: My friend was the one who got the package, and I went with her. I believe we each paid $30 plus a $15 fee at the salon, which I do not consider to be at all expensive for a haircut. I have curly hair which I wanted short in the back and a bit longer in the front, as well as a round face. This is a very difficult style as it needs to look great both curly and straight, plus I have very thick hair which requires half an hour of blow drying to tame. Celia cut my hair, highlighted and straightened it. When I say it was perfect I mean I was as close to tears of joy as I can be looking at my own reflection. The color never washed out, and the haircut grew out to perfectly frame my face. She spent 2.5 hours with me industriously laboring over every strand of hair, while I sipped wine and chatted with her. I ended up paying $80.00 for the color, so total of $125 is very fair and I'm going back this Thursday (3 months later). My friend has long straight blond hair which she had trimmed, blown dry, and they put in a special gloss for free. We were super nice to our stylists and they treated us very well. Now the unfortunate part. My friend and I returned the following Saturday for the facial part of the package. While the actual facial experience was not terrible, we were both very upset when a week later you could play connect the dots on our chins. Whatever products they used made us break out horribly. So while Il'l be returning to see Celia pretty often, I'd steer clear of that back room. more
