Kimberly Williams ruined my hair! She is unprofessional & unexperienced & she did the opposite of what i asked her. Do not trust this person to color your hair you will regret it!

best Salon in NYC 3/1/2012

I am very fussy about my hair, both color and cut. I've been to all the high profile salons in the city and have had good and bad experiences in all of them, that is until I returned to AKS after a 10 year hiatus. I had followed a stylist and a colorist to another salon and spent years trying to figure out why I was happy with my hair every other time, and miserable every other time. On a friend's suggestion, I returned to AKS and I am so happy that it forced me to write a review. Since my return about 6 months ago, not a day has passed without someone complementing me on my hair, equal parts color and cut. Everyone there is nice, professional and the service and atmosphere is great. I don't know why anyone goes any where else. From a very happy client. Pros: null Cons: null more

Talented & fun: John, Kim & Drew. Couldn't walk down the street without compliments on the cut from John. And, the color Kim did made my hair look even more incredible. Highly recommend this highly skilled team who are fun to spend an afternoon with. more

Best color 10/9/2011

Kimberly Williams is the best colorist I've been to in Manhattan. She has a great eye for natural color. I started going to Kim this past summer, and she turned my brassy blonde hair into a more golden Jennifer Aniston type of look. She is great at listening to clients requests, but also has amazing insight and ideas of her own. So if you're looking for natural and timeless hair color, search no further, see Kim! more

I had a good experience with Kimberly Williams. I took in pictures of what I wanted my color to look like. She was very open to discussing our result expectations. Pictures and photos always help your hair dresser. I am happy with my color. I thought Kimberly was professional in her approach and careful in evaluating the color process. more

The best highlights by JALEH 9/30/2010

I have been getting my hair colored at Salon AKS for 5+ years now and have not even entertained the idea of going somewhere else (unless, of course, JALEH, my colorist, were to leave). Naturally, my hair is dark brown but I am now a true blond. In the fall/winter, JALEH tends to do warmer strawberry blonde tones and for spring and summer she brightens up my hair with golden honey tones. ? more

i just started working in the city right on 5th avenue and 57th and co-worker recommended salon aks. I was in desperate need of some highlights and had to get it done asap because i had a date. i did not want to spend alot but she raved about this salon. so i booked an appt and was very happy with the outcome. sometimes when you get highlights there are some areas around the forehead that show noticeable roots but they blended all of these areas in perfectly. even though it cost more than i am used to spending or can typically afford i was very happy and will most likely go back. Alex great for Brazilian Blowout 4/15/2010

Alex did a terrific job with my Brazilian Blowout. Now my hair is silky and easy to maintain. He also trimmed my split ends and my hair looks so healthy. I've had bad experiences before with this process and am so relieved to have discovered Alex. Highly recommended. Pros: Great service/great personality more

Kathleen the Colorist 3/11/2010

Kathleen the colorist who "wrote a book" is terrible. She does not listen to what you want, and if you complain she has a fit and a major attitude. She is highly unprofessional, and ruined my hair, damaging it to the point where my hair broke off, and I am not a blonde. I do not recommend her at all. I had to have my hair redone a week afterwards, yet to pay more money to have it fixed. If you go back to her and complain, she gets vindictive and feels like you are hurting her feelings as an "artist".........no go..... Cons: Burnt my hair and made it fall out more

All those ladies who have been salon searching or staring longingly into the mirror, wishing their hair would suddenly look like a Victoria's Secret model's (or like a David Yurman campaign), look no further! I spent a long time reading reviews and looking at "best of" lists before booking with Jaleh at AKS Salon. I was nervous, because this was my first venture into a true "New York" salon. Carolyn's color ROCKS 8/10/2009

Carolyn DePalma is an incredibly gifted colorist. I change my hair color regularly and am *never* disappointed with the results. Over the past four years I've gone from nearly black to cherry chocolate to auburn to copper, through six shades of red from cranberry to pale strawberry, back to near my natural blonde, lighter than my natural color and then dark again -- and and it has looked fabulous every. single. time. I'm constantly getting compliments, especially from my friends, family, and co-workers who see all the transformations and are amazed that my colorist can make any shade look good on me. She is not only the BEST hair care profesional i have ever encountered, but pleasure to visit with every 4 months. Mika - Best Stylist 7/6/2009

I've had my hair styled by Mika for years and I constantly get compliments on it. My hair is very curly and very difficult to work with. Mika has not only been able to tame my curls but also gives me tips on how to style it and the products I should use. Whether I wear my hair curly or straight, it always looks great and I owe that all to Mika! Pros: Friendly, Personable, Professional Cons: None more
