Terrible 2/9/2010

Once again Gene Juarez has messed up. 2 times in a row, I go in with an appt., and the stylist I have an appt. with is not available! No offers for a free haircut.....the word sorry came out of the manager's mouth, but it was not sincere. To try to make it up to me, he gave me a card with his personal phone number on it. Why would I want that? more

Got Pampered! 7/16/2008

I was given a "Be Pampered" gift card (manicure, pedicure, massage & facial) for V-day. Make an appointment a few weeks in advance. When i called in, the lady told me to go to the Bellevue salon as it is the most luxurious of all the Gene Jaurez salons in the area. When i submitted my gift card, they said prices had been increased since the card had been purchased but they would accept it anyways without additional charge. more

Hair Color Experience 4/1/2008

I had a terrible experience at this salon. I felt the colorist tried to sell me a lot of products that I didn't need. She suggested that I buy Gene Juarez's products, which I have already and tried to get me to get a haircut I didn't want at the time. I couldn't help thinking that they must be under a lot of pressure to sell. She was very rough and dryed my hair with a very hot dryer in an effort to save time. She was hurrying and accidently splashed color in my eyes at the sink. I think a lot of the colorists maybe all of them, are not stylists so they don't know how to style hair. She didn't style or part my hair and put a lot of product in it which made it feel tangled and matted. I will never return more

WONDERFUL SERVICE 2/10/2008

This salon company gives excellent service. Especially the one in Tuckwila, Washington. The hair stylist is MICHELLE. She is wonderful, and all of the other employee's are very gracefull. -Alexis Kis-Young!!!! more

Pros and Cons 2/1/2007

I recently spent a half a day @ Gene Juarez in Bellevue for a "Back and Neck Massage" and a haircut. Below are my pros and cons list... Pros: 1) I had no problems making an appointment a mere week in advance that suited my schedule for both a massage and haircut. Plus, just 2 days before my appointment I needed to adjust the hours - still, they were courteous and accommodating. 2) Easy to find @ the Galleria Mall with validated parking. 3) The reception area is spacious, welcoming and overall decor inviting. 4) Upon arrival the staff was prompt with getting me acquainted with their facility. 5) The environment in the spa area is serene and conducive to relaxation. 6) My masseuse, Vicki, was professional, friendly and pampering. She gave me a wonderful back and neck massage! 7) After my massage I got a haircut with Mikah who did a pretty good job with listening to what I wanted. She also communicated her plans well before implementing them. 8) Overall, @ the end of the day, I felt pampered. 9) You didn't feel pressured when leaving a tip as their system is to put your tip in an envelope which you drop in a slot @ the check-out counter @ the end of your visit. 10) I also didn't feel any pressure to purchase any of their products (see cons below). Cons... 1) Parking is horrendous, then again, parking in Bellevue is horrendous almost anywhere you go. 2) For the most part the staff was courteous and friendly but I think for the price of their services they could've been more attentive. I was in their facility for hours and was offered refreshments only twice. 3) The robe they provided were tattered. I wasn't expecting brand new but the robe I was given had frayed edges. 4) At the end of my haircut I was COVERED with hair and the stylist didn't take the time to address that. Instead, she handed me a dry towel and sent me on my way. 5) I had asked both the masseuse and the hair-stylist to have products I've chosen to purchase @ the check-out counter for me to pick-up but they weren't there and I forgot all about them! All in all I would go back there again. more

They always do a nice job. 4/20/2006

I've been going to Gene Juarez for 17 years. I definately think that the Bellevue Salon provides the best service (I've tried them all!). My current favorites are Omid for a cut and Veronica for color. They do a wonderful job, listen to what I want, and make knowledgeable recomendations. more

Gene Juarez 4/14/2006

I have had some very terrible hair experiences at salons, but Gene Juarez ALWAYS does a great job. I recently went to Gene Juarez in the Bellevue Galleria, and got the best color and cut I have had in a long time. The highlights looked natural and the cut was framed around my face just right. I love going there because I am not nervous to see how it will turn out. I can relax and enjoy my time knowing that my hair will always look good when I leave the salon! The girl that did my highlights told me how much she loved her job, and that made my experience even better knowing how much she cared about what she was doing! more

awesome cut, great customer care 4/10/2006

I was very impressed with this place. They charge $45 for a women's cut and $80 for partial highlights, but they offer a much nicer/upscale atmosphere and attention to customers than other places that charge that same price. My stylist was Jake and my colorist was Kadence, and I liked both -- I was very happy with my cut and color! In addition, the place just looks very polished and the staff is very professional. One thing that makes this place interesting is that they all undergo school for the special Gene Juarez method of cutting/styling, and then they are required to continue attending classes once a week for the duration of their employment with the company, in order to keep up with the latest trends and new techniques. Both Jake and Kadence were very excited about this program because it keeps them learning and interested. This benefit also seems to keep them loyal to the company. more

i'll never return 12/22/2005

fool me once... i've gone to the bellevue jean juarez 3 times, and i chose that one for a combo of the services they offer and easy parking. i will never again step foot in that particular spa. the first time i went there i got a facial. i left the spa feeling like i had a quart of motor oil on my face and my eyes stung for 2 days. it was brutal. i called and they suggested that i buy some ponds eye healing patch thingies, then after the runaround they sent me a coupon for a free facial to make up for it. so a few weeks later, back i go... THIS time the woman spent as much time trying to sell me their products as she did giving me the facial! gee, thanks, that's really relaxing. tried it one more time for the 'hand and foot revitalizer' - and i left with clear polish covering the tips of every finger and not feeling relaxed at all. the woman who took care of me this time had a cold so a) she was sniffling the entire time, and b) i was tense because i didn't want to catch her cold. she kept telling me it was allergies, but i didn't buy it for a second. the managers there are rude and unprofessional, and as i said, i'm not going back there. more

The Perfect Hair Cut 9/12/2005

I recently had a haircut with Katrina at the Bellevue Salon... it was great! She was nice, quick, and affordable. My normal hair gal was working in LA and I was blessed to find Katrina. She gave me a new look and confidence I didn't even know I had. I will recommend her to everyone! And Bella who colored my hair did an excellent job as well. I enjoyed my time at the salon and will definitely return when needed! more

A Massage Experience I Won't Forget 8/30/2005

Call Gene Juarez and schedule a Hawaiian (Lomi-Lomi) massage with Jay. Get there early and sit in the steam room. Then lounge in your robe and read up on the latest health and beauty trends while sipping ice water. Next you will be escorted to an area where you receive a nice foot soak. Me and about 3 other people were there in this huge facility .on a weeknight. At first it felt a little bit strange in this huge place. Occasionally someone would find me and check in with me. Once I got comfortable, I felt like a queen in this huge modern castle. When Jay has the room ready for you he will bring you back and get you settled there. During the massage you feel as if you have drifted across the Pacific to Hawaii. If you have had a Swedish massage, don't expect the same techniques. Lomi-lomi is very different, you'll experience deep and elongating strokes. Afterward, I stood tall, and felt like I had grown an inch or two. It was a great massage. I also felt very pampered and special leaving with a beautiful lei. more

Eh... Not bad, but not great. 8/21/2005

As a whole, I tend to be less than impressed with Gene Juarez. I have very long hair, and get it colored every other month to the tune of $200-300 each time. Since I don't live in New York and Oribe himself isn't tending to my locks, I kind of think that's a lot to be spending around here. And they do a good job. But nobody besides my colorist is ever really that nice to me, they act snooty, and they always make me feel out of place. If it weren't for the fact that Terez did an outstanding job with my hair, I would be going someplace else in a heartbeat. more

Gene Juarez Salon & Spa - Bellevue 8/16/2005

Gene Juarez in Bellevue is a great salon experience. When I went, I had a pedicure and my hair styled (not cut). The pedicure was great. They make it an experience, complete with dimmed lighting, music, lavender scented products, and a massage. A towel over my eyes completed the relaxing experience. The actual pedicure was very good, with no obvious mistakes; the massage was good, but could have been better for the price. But the experience overall was wonderful. The hair style was superb! I brought a picture in with me, and my stylist was understanding and efficient. She understood what I wanted and made it exactly that way. Because it was a special occasion updo, she made sure that it would stay (lots of bobby pins and hairspray), but my hair still looked natural and shiny. I was very pleased with her work. It is, of course, very expensive, though; but if you’re prepared for this kind of spending, you’ll no doubt love your experience. more

Not cheap, but good 8/16/2005

I've had several excellent manicures from the Gene Juarez at Bellevue Square. They're not cheap - $35 to $40 after tax and tip - but my manicures have lasted a week or more without chipping, and it's very clean and hygenic. The manicurists all have extensive training and do a good job. more

Consistently good haircut 8/11/2005

I'm a nervous wreck when it comes to getting a haircut, having been butchered many times before. I always have a good experience at this Salon, and I love the pampered feeling I get there. Yes, it's more expensive than your average haircut shop - but it's not an average haircut shop. If you want the gold treatment, then go here and you won't be disappointed. Relaxation and pampering! more

More than a haircut 6/1/2005

Gene Jaurez is pricey but I find myself returning there time after time. It is reassuring to know that I won't be disappointed in my haircut, but there is more to Gene Jaurez than that. For a few hours I can feel totally relaxed and pampered -- an extra $20 is a small price to pay for a mini-vacation. more

A good place to get your hair cut 4/30/2005

My family has been getting their hair cut at Gene Juarez for several years, going back to when they were still at Bellevue Square. Now I don't ask for anything "cutting edge" but they do maintain the style I like. If your stylist has been there a while the price is higher. Parking is free but finding a space in the garage is a pain. more
