I made the coolest discovery recently - if you have a King County Library card, you can download videos, eBooks and audiobooks from their website for free. And there are some really great titles! The download process takes a little while (I would suggest planning on an hour or two for a feature-length movie until you figure out what kind of performance you get) but the movies play really well. I put them on a laptop with an S-video connection hooked up to the television and run the audio through the stereo and am very pleased with the both the video and audio quality that way.
My son loves the Charlie Chaplin movies we downloaded last week and they have a whole lot of Rabbit Ears productions available (anyone remember these from a few years back - name actors reading traditional stories and folk tales with great musicians doing background music and great art too) . I even ran across a WONDERFUL documentary called Paper Clips about kids from Whitwell, Tennessee who turned a relatively simple unit on the holocaust into something much bigger than anyone imagined. There is some interesting diversity to the titles they have available and I love that I don't have to even go anywhere to pick them up.
If you have access to KCLS and haven't tried this out yet, you definitely should. It's a great service

My most recent visit to BAM was to see the teapot exhibit but was pleasantly surprised to see other very interesting exhibits featured that day as well. Staff is very knowledgable with the exhibits and happily answer any questions. I will certainly return in the future.

We recently purchased a short-sale property that had very dirty/smelly carpets. Some rooms were better than others, but in general there were a lot of miscellaneous furniture and spill stains + clear signs of dust filtration around the edges of the carpets.
After having several companies come over and give us estimates, we choose to go with Crystal Carpet Cleaning as John was very knowledgeable, professional, and had the necessary tools to get the job done properly (not to mention John is a really nice guy).
I know that we made the right decision because our carpets look better than I could ever have expected! We are really happy with the results and with their reasonable prices. I would have no hesitation in recommending Crystal Carpet Cleaning to any of my friends and I would certainly use them again.

Good: East Shore is a very welcoming lberal faith community that supports individuals in their spiritual journey. Members hold diverse beliefs but support one another in their quest for truth and meaning. People in this church practice shared humanistic values. We joined to have a faith community to assist in bringing up our kids. Through the religious exploration classes, kids learn cooperation, compassion, and understanding of other faiths and beliefs throughout the world.. Bad: Not enough people know about this faith because Unitarians are not out to "convert" others into a belief system. Unitarian Universalism is one of the oldest faiths in America to which many of our founding fathers and mothers belonged. Tenets of this faith influenced the framers of our democracy and some of the greatest social justice minds in our country. Folks need to know!. Improvements: Outreach to the wider community that is seeking a spiritual home in a non-orthodox community.. Other: This is a great church if you are a seeking a spiritual home. It's great for kids and family, the music is phenomenal, and the church houses an ongoing art gallery to support local and world artists. The church also has numerous community and social support groups and great classes. Visitors are most welcome!.

One of the region's most important nonprofits is Hopelink. Hopelink is a social service agency providing 40 different services from food banks and emergency shelter to adult education and child development to over 50,000 people each year in North and East King County. Other great stuff like their holiday toy banks and school supply drive really make a difference. Their philosophy of moving families from crisis to self-sufficiency and their low overhead make Hopelink a very worthwhile charity to support.

Skiforall works with disabled children to help them ski, bike, hike, rock climb, and do a lot of things they or their parents may not have thought possible. The volunteers are there to help, care a lot and clearly have fun being there. This is an amazing non profit and I'd reccomend participating or volunteering!

More
My children have been taking speech therapy at Speech Language Learning Services for quite a while. My son has been going for 3 years and my daughter for 8 months. They are owned by Group Health Cooperative. I find the quality of care here to be very good. Our therapist has always shown genuine interest in my children and obviously cares for them on a personal level. They are good about updating physicians with progress reports every six months. They are also very willing to work with school district therapists to develop goals.

Well, your pet, anyway.
We have used one of their services - long story. We found them very helpful and efficient. They do offer low-cost vet services, but I am not sure what limitations there are on this. Here is their website: http://www.seattlehumane.org/clinic.shtml .

come to First Presbyterian of Bellevue. This is an enormous church with over 2000 members. There are lots of classes and groups available, but it can be hard to get involved/feel connected because the church is so big. (classes, groups, etc.) I enjoyed the sermons (lots of variety with seven pastors sharing preaching responsibilities). The music at the church was also very good. Services include both more modern praise services as well as more traditional. Give First Pres. a try!

More
The Skate Park is located below the Highland Community Center. This is the only large size and well designed indoor skateboard park in the Seattle area.
They have different times reserved for different age groups. You will not find the "bullies" here (those that smoke, spit and insult the smaller kids at some of the public skate parks).
The "personnel" (young skateboarders) do provide lessons if you ask them and their fee is very modest. Some of them are very friendly (ask if Brock is still there). If not, or if you dont want to come to Bellevue you can email Joe at jmoorman@ci.bellevue.wa.us and ask him for a recommendation for an instructor. Joe is a great guy, he designs skateboard parks and can also build your own private one if you have the space at home.
