The Children's Discovery museum in downtown is a great hands on experience for kids (and even adults). They have a permanent bubble making area, traffic intersection with stop lights, ambulance and fire truck, water play area (balls, boats) and tennis ball track (you'll know it when you see it). They vary the upstairs exhibits. The last time we went it was an exhibit on motion with rubber band slingshot cars and different audio experiences (foreign music/instruments, songs).
