Mona Lisa Bakery has some of the best sweets you will eat in your life. The bakery is huge and has a good selection of breads, cakes, specialty cakes, cupcakes, cookies and pastries. It's located on 86th Street and everyone likes to go there and get a coffee and treat. There is an area to sit outside the bakery as well and they keep late hours so you could go here after a date.

I just came out of chiffons with the yummiest hamantasch and the largest variety of flavors i've ever seen. They had chocolate, pineapple, raspberry, cherry, apricot,strawberry,poppy, and prune. Hope i didn't leave any out.

So I'm relatively new to this part of Brooklyn and just recently back to NYC from more than a year away-- I hope I'll be forgiven if my review is redundant, but I just had to say. . .
I wandered into Two Little Red Hens early morning waiting around to pick up my moving vehicle on my very first day in the hood. . . I was just hoping for a quick morning fuel up since i had rushed out without eating to get my moving day started, but what I got, was one of The Best muffins I have ever had and a whole eye full of bakery treats that still occupy my waking, sweet dreams.
A few weeks later and I haven't made it back yet, but I already know i have new favourite bakery in town.

I'm not ecstatic about this place, but I like it well enough. It is just the kind of neighborhood deli that everyone should have; fresh bagels, lots of sandwiches, attractive looking bakery items, and a lot of good natured shouting and scurrying behind the counter whenever it gets packed--which it does regularly on weekend mornings.
They have a pretty extensive deli menu and do catering as well. On average prices are what should be expected for The Slope, which means no steals!

Make up your mind quick! A hot bagel waits for no man or woman.
The customers are anxious to get their fix at this Brooklyn landmark. The bagels are perfect and the cream cheese options should please even the most finicky customer.
The low-fat vegie spread on an everything is my #1 pick. I also admit to loving their very fattening chicken salad on a pumpernickel bagel--it's more than enough to share with a friend (and that makes the calories more forgivable right?).
Take it to go.

Not to miss products: during the holidays its Christmas Limpa bread and Yuleakager. Year round you can get the best apple strudle, cheese danish, black and white cookies and a personal favorite - custard kringla.

This place is great. The desserts are amazing, if you go in there trying to buy one things, I'm sure you'll leave there with at least 3 things. Everything looks and tastes wonderful. the baking is done on the premises, so everything is fresh. The staff is friendly, they usually have young girls working there, so they know how to move when it gets busy. If you're throwing a party, you'll find something for everyone here.
