Hidden Charges 8/5/2005

This video store had many hidden fees. Although they had a good video selection the hidden fees annoyed me. They also had late fees and I had to go out of my way to return them on time. Sometimes they would close weeks at a time and I couldn’t return them if I wanted to. Other than these problems it was an all right experience. Some of the DVD’s were unplayable. But the unplayable DVD’s were exchanged quickly for new ones. They handled the problem pretty good. Fees are very annoying at times. more

Best Choice for Video Rental on Graham Avenue 7/26/2005

In terms of selection, Vec's Video is no better and no worse than any other smallish, independent video rental store. There aren't many indy films, but the selection of new and classic movies is good, and new releases arrive regularly and on time. The store does still carry most movies on VHS, which is nice for those lagging behind the DVD revolution, and there's a whole corner dedicated to children's movies and video games. There's also a "curtained" back room for adults, though I personally can't write a review of that. I prefer to stop in on the weekdays when the owner is working, the women who work on the weekend tend to be loud and a little obnoxious and make it hard to concentrate on choosing a movie. The owner is flexible with return times for movies that aren't new releases (and was VERY understanding when a video I rented got stuck in my VCR, even suggesting I bring it in to see if his other weekday employee could help me), so let him know if you're going to need an extra day and he'll usually accommodate. New releases and DVDs are $3 for one night, older movies are $2 for 2 nights. more
