In terms of selection, Vec's Video is no better and no worse than any other smallish, independent video rental store. There aren't many indy films, but the selection of new and classic movies is good, and new releases arrive regularly and on time. The store does still carry most movies on VHS, which is nice for those lagging behind the DVD revolution, and there's a whole corner dedicated to children's movies and video games. There's also a "curtained" back room for adults, though I personally can't write a review of that.
I prefer to stop in on the weekdays when the owner is working, the women who work on the weekend tend to be loud and a little obnoxious and make it hard to concentrate on choosing a movie.
The owner is flexible with return times for movies that aren't new releases (and was VERY understanding when a video I rented got stuck in my VCR, even suggesting I bring it in to see if his other weekday employee could help me), so let him know if you're going to need an extra day and he'll usually accommodate.
New releases and DVDs are $3 for one night, older movies are $2 for 2 nights.
