The signature room @ the 95th was an awesome experience. Upon our arrival to Chicago we made reservations with some skepticism. In which we were blown away with the friendly custo...

Start your evening at the bar here, but go get dinner somewhere else. The view is amazing, but not worth the price of the food Pros: view Cons: price

AWESOME BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION 7/31/2010

Just celebrated my birthday with my two friends Geri & Mary. Special thanks to our waiter and the staff at the Signature Room (95th floor Restaurant in the John Hancock building) for making this an awesome birthday. more

So worth the trip 6/17/2006

I just went here a couple of weeks ago for a business dinner. Will I be going back? Heck YEA!! This place has been labeled "touristy" by so many, but I found the food here to be amazing. The salmon here was superb and grilled to perfection. It was presented in a very chic manner and it tasted even better. Wow! I wasn't really expecting much of a view, but was pleased with the nice window seating and the view of the city. The service was excellent and our water glasses were never unfilled thanks to their attentive care. more

Haven't had the food, but... 5/31/2006

So I have yet to actually save up enough money to actually EAT a meal here, but I have been here several times for drinks in their lounge. If you don't mind a bit of a touristy crowd, then this place is awesome. You get to go up in their speedy little elavator (which makes your ears pop sometimes!!) and then your high up enjoying some great drinks. The view is amazing and hard to beat. It is a fun place to chill with friends and mingle with some new folk. more

Paying for the atmosphere... 5/3/2006

So the food isn't all that great for the price here, but it's really the view and the atmosphere you are paying for anyway. Get dressed up, come to this restaurant with your sweetie, take your time and enjoy! It's romantic, feels like you're really doing something special just because of the view you get out of the windows here in the Hancock building. Give it a chance! more

Dinner 95 Floors Up! 4/26/2006

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at this sophisticated restaurant. It is located at the top of the John Hancock building. You go up an elevator that takes you up within seconds. Once you get to the restaurant, you will be amazed at the decor and the fabulous view. Ask for a window seat to really optimize your experience. My husband and I tried a few things and we found the food to be presented really nicely, but the taste of the food was not comprable to the presentation. The server was excellent and made our experience great. Overall, a really sophisticated restaurant that may not serve up the best meal, but will definitely give you an experience you won't forget! more

What a View! 3/30/2006

Located in the Hancock Bldg. only a few floors below the observation deck is this lounge/restaurant. Is is definetly a romantic setting for a cold drink or a meal on perhaps a special occasion. The food is pricey, but it is the view that is amazing. You want to sit by the window and relax and take your time to enjoy yourself. A special place for locals and tourist alike. more

The view - What else 3/29/2006

There are plenty of nice restaurants in Chicago. The Signature Room/ Lounge is definitely one of them - but not THE nicest. What makes this place unique is the view. It's incredible. You really don't imagine 95 or 96 stories up until you are sitting there looking out at it. The food is ok and the drinks are quite pleasant, but that's not what you really pay attention to up there. Unfortunately it's almost become one of those stereotypical romantic spots - if someone ever proposed to me up there (ha!) I'd probably be pissed at them for being so cliché. But that doesn't mean it's not a definite place to stop for something nice or for a tourist excursion. Everyone has to go at some point! more

The price of Chicago View. 3/18/2006

This is one of the must to visit if you're in Chicago. The food is nothing special and outrageously pricey for the quality. You basically paying for the view. Try to make a reservation for a place by the window around sunset, because you will be able to see Chicago turning from light to dark, very romantic. If you don't want to spend too much, just go to their bar and just have a drink. more

Great view 3/18/2006

If you want to catch a great view of the city and lake come to the signature room lounge. I havent eaten at the restaurant but if you go up a level there is the lounge and you can get a great view. You are supposed to get a drink and that is about it. A good alternative if you do not wish to spend a lot of money to look out a window. You can still get the view. more

If It Wasn't For The Server 3/10/2006

The food that I had here was terrible. I just don't like paying a lot for bad food. I spoke to the manager about it, because it was all cold and had been sitting out for a while on the buffet, and he told me something along the lines of "the chef is an artist". I was livid! He ended up bringing us out some better food and apologizing in the end, but it is never smart to tell a patron that they are wrong. My server was really nice though and that is the only reason I we stayed. After it was done, I went downstairs to Cheesecake Factory to get some real food. more

Paying for the View 3/8/2006

Granted, the view is great. But the service is unfriendly, the food nothing to brag about and the drinks are uber-expensive. The martinis are served in smaller-than-usual glasses and cost at least $10. The service I've experienced has been slow and not very cordial. Understandable when you see how many tourists come through the doors. Unless your treating out-of-towners to the Chicago scene, you should only have to try it once to realize there is better almost anywhere else. Unfortunately, I have not been so lucky. Noteworthy: the bathrooms were very clean. more

Great view and drinks 3/2/2006

I've never actually been here for a meal, but have been here many, many times to enjoy a drink. Their lounge is perhaps the best place in all of Chicago to get a drink and enjoy the scenery. The view from the Signature loung is amazing and hard to beat anywhere else. It is also a great setting, whether you just come here with a date or with a bunch of friends. This is also a great place to check out if you are visiting Chicago. more

Great Views 2/19/2006

If you are looking for the perfect setting for a special occassion, this is the perfect place. This restaurant is located at the top of the John Hancock and it has a wonderful view. The service here is top-notch and adds to the entire elegance of this restaurant. The menu here is pretty decent, featuring many different options. But, overall, the food is only mediocare. Nonetheless, this place is still extremely popular because of the views, elegance, and great service. I would definitely recommend this place for any special occassion, despite the fact that the food is only so-so. Make sure to make reservations far in advance because this place books up fast. more

Great Views and Drinks 2/9/2006

I've never eaten at the restaurant but the Signature Lounge is a terrific place to grab a drink. Birds-eye view of the city like none other (except for the Sears Tower observatory). We always took out of town guests here for a drink. Sometimes it can be a little touristy but the low lighting still makes it seem somewhat intimate. more

A must if you come to Chicago 1/8/2006

We took my in-laws to the Signature Room during the Air and Water Show a few years back. We lucked out and got great seats near the window. On the 95th floor of the Hancock, we had a terrific view! In fact, supposedly the best "view" of Chicago can be had in the lady's room. I can believe it. Sorry gentlemen, but no looks for you! They do a very reasonably priced lunch buffet, so if money is an issue, you can still enjoy this restaurant. Reservations are a must, though they plan for a certain amount of "walk ins." One way to enjoy the view without the price is to eat in the bar area. They have a nice selection of appetizers and sandwiches to choose from, and impressive views everywhere. Still a bit expensive but the view makes it very worth it. more

One of the City's Best 8/9/2005

The Signature Room is on the 95th floor of the Hancock Building, which means that when you are dining you will have an excellent view of Chicago. The food here is pretty good, but it's also very expensive. I don't think I've ever eaten here for less than $100 per person, though I'm sure it's possible. The portions are small, too, as they usually are in fancy restaurants. This place is definitely for special occasions, so get dressed up when you come here! more

Signature Lounge 7/25/2005

This restaurant/ lounge is not just for tourists! Its a great place to go for a nice Sunday brunch, a fancy dinner or just a night out with friends. The restaurant is more romantic and formal, and the lounge is more upbeat and casual. However, both offer spectacular views of Chicago from the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building. They also have good New Years Parties! more
