There are always new shows and attractions, so you can come several times in a year and not get bored. Overall, it's a wonderful place for families to spend time together doing something that is both fun and educational.

Enchanted Castle is a good place to take pre-teens for birthday parties or just for fun. There are lots of video games and skee-ball type games to enjoy, as well as miniature golf, laser tag, and bumper cars. They have a huge banquet hall for parties, and the food (pizza, pasta, sandwiches) is pretty good. Everything is indoors, too, so you never have to worry about bad weather ruining the fun.

I haven't actually been to Unity Temple for their church services, but I have been there many times for their events and on guided tours. As you may know, Unity Temple is a Frank Lloyd Wright building, so it is on the walking tour of Oak Park. It is a great building to look at and enjoy, both inside and out. The congregation at this church often have events that the general public are welcome to attend. I have been to many pot luck suppers, open houses, socials, etc. and everyone seems genuinely nice. It's a great place all around.

The Carleton is a pretty nice hotel that's located right in the middle of downtown Oak Park. It's a great place to stay if you want to be close to Chicago without actually staying in the city, or if you want to have a quick getaway weekend without going very far. The hotel is old (they call it "historic"), but well-kept. The rooms are clean, spacious, and modern, with coffeemakers and Internet ports available in each one (in the main building). Overall, I think it's a bit expensive, but a nice place to stay.

Breit & Johnson is one of the best sporting goods stores around. I would say that their main focus is baseball, though they do carry equipment for all the major sports. The staff are very knowledgeable and are ready to give you sound advice regarding the type of baseball glove that would best suit you or how heavy your bat should be. Spaulding's is a small clothing store that has been in the Oak Park Mall for years. They mostly have men's business and casual clothes. I like the personal attention that you get when you shop there. They take their time with measurements so that you get a suit that fits you perfectly. The prices are somewhat higher than in the larger department stores, but there's really not too much of a difference.
