There will most assuredly be something for everyone here. This "Jewish Deli" feel has one of the biggest, most diferse menus you'll ever find.
The chicken salad is delicious, and the soups, especially the Matzo ball soup, are also delectable.
The service can be somewhat slow, but always friendly.
A very good family restaurant with a menu that is sure to make everyone in your party happy.

Monk's is usually packed at lunch time with office workers and lawyers in search of Chicago's best hamburger, served all different ways. After work, it is less busy but the floor quickly becomes covered in peanut shells. I especially recommend the seasoned curly fries and the nachos. For dieters or Atkins-types, you can get your burger without a bun and with a small salad rather than fries. For downtown Chicago, the price is reasonable, but they only have free soda refills at lunch--after work, you have to pay for refills.

The Empty Bottle is a nice solace when you're surrounded by monotony every day. When you come here, there's life, youth, and creativity filtering through the air. Music varies, but for the most part, you'll find your alternative/indie bands. The lineups are pretty good, energetic and entertaining, and not necessarily always for the pretentious. Beware, you will find pretentious people, but aren't we all victims?
Drinks can be super cheap, and they have specials. I like that they have a raised floor area across from the stage so that everyone can try to see. It reminds me of a basement or a party, but a little more organized.

Great food! Everyone liked their entree, which included steak, salmon, scallops, and a few other choices. The presentation was very appealing and the food delicious. The waiter was very knowledgeable, not only regarding the specials, etc. but also how any proposed modification would affect the overall flavor of a given choice and was very helpful in helping us decide what to select.
The cosmopolitans were delicious and a cut above what quality I would expect from a restaurant.
The appetizers were also good, and the chef sent out an additional, complementary appetizer (a new concoction) for us to try.
There is an adjoining bar next door but I did not see how that was.

I was taking an all day class last summer and went here for lunch during the break - it wasn't very busy so I figured I could get in and out on time and be back to class. Well for one thing the food got there before the drinks did - NO excuse for that! And the food wasn't even all that good. The server was totally unavailable and we had to wait forever for a check when all we wanted to do was eat, pay, and get back to class. Then the ATM was broken too which made paying an incompetent server even more difficult. Needless to say I was late for class and won't be coming back here.

More
This place is the place to go if you want to pay $10 for a 40 of malt liquor. Imagine if a hipster bar and a frat boy bar had a love child that neither one would claim, and you've got Elm Street Liquors.
Pros:
> I wasn't paying for my drinks
> The skylight is cool
> There seemed to be a group of regulars who knew each other and liked each other
Cons:
> The drinks are expensive
> The dry martini I ordered was $10, small, loaded with vermouth, and managed to be warm in spite of the ice chunks floating at the top
> It's too loud to talk
If you like places that are fashionable for no reason, this is your place. I doubt I'll ever return.

Catch Thirty Five is famous for its seafood and when you eat there you will know why! I’m not sure you can go wrong with anything seafood you order. Especially recommended is the salmon, it’s grilled to perfection and seasoned just right. I’ve only been once, but both meals were great. Atmosphere and service were very nice, too. Located in downtown Chicago with plenty to do before or after dinner!!
