My wife and I took our Doberman Pinscher to Dr. Luka to have a series of procedures performed after Dr. Luka guaranteed me an amazing price over the phone.
We arrived as soon as they opened on Friday morning, and the place looked clean and smelled fresh. The doctors kept in contact with us throughout her stay to keep us updated on her condition throughout and after surgery, which was greatly appreciated.
The next morning, we picked her up around noon. There were several other dogs either in surgery or in the kennels, and we did notice a smell only because the kennels are right next to everything. It's in the city though, so what do you expect?
Our dog looks unbelievable. Surprisingly, when we picked her up, she didn't seem upset or distraught about her stay overnight, which is more than I can say for other places I've taken other animals to. The doctor gave us clear instructions on the proper care and maintenance of her incisions, and offered us deworming and recommended special vitamins for our dog's diet, at a better price than pet store's mind you, however we weren't interested and simply said "No, thank you", to which the doctor replied, "OK". Very nice people.
Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our experience with Dr. Luka.
The final results of her surgery will be revealed in a few months, but from the looks of it, everything looks perfect, even before it's beginning to heal.
I would most certainly recommend Dr. Luka to anyone looking for a good surgeon, who doesn't charge out the rear for simple procedures, this is your doctor. Some of the places we got quotes from, actually quoted us as much as $500-$1000 more than what Dr. Luka performed for all 3 procedures.
Pros: Clean, fast, no hassle, inexpensive
Cons: Kennels and waiting area in same 'vicinity'

The work that these folks do is amazing and a huge blessing to so many people and of course animals. Many of the people who work here are devoted to the cause of helping these dogs and cats find a good home. They provide all the shots, tags and papers you will need for a low fee. Some of the people working here are volunteers-thanks folks. Job well done!

If you want the hottest vets, go here. I'm serious. I had two that were good lookin', and i ain't lying. I also got a "good samaritan" discount for getting a checkup for a stray kitten. Unfortunately, the kitten had to be put down for a number of reasons, and I got a really awkward call from a nurse asking how the kitten was. Sigh.
Still, it's a little pricey but it's worth it- everyone is so totally nice there (and hot, ahem, hot) and I'm glad to be a patron.

I travel to Blum Animal Hospital from the Northern Suburbs because there is not another place like it. The service is excellent! I wish my kids' pediatrician had the same customer service attitude and bedside manner. They have great hours and always will see me the same day when my pet is sick. They also are always willing to discuss treatment options and fees whenever necessary.

The Chicago Cat Clinic is the Mayo Clinic of feline healthcare. It was founded in 1975 by Barbara Stein, who was one of the most highly-respected veterinary practitioners in the country.
Dr John Nordwall learned his trade from her after vet school, and acquired the clinic following Dr Stein's death. He and his fellow veterinarians and staff have maintained and enhanced the sterling quality of feline care and human service for which the Clinic had justly been well known.
I have had three cats in the past 25 years or so, all have been patients of the Clinic, and I would not even think of taking a cat to any other veterinary service.

In June our beloved 11 year old lab mix, Reilly was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Dr Cynthia Olson, a vet at PPAH told us he had 2-4 weeks to live. Dr Olson seemed genuinely saddened by the news and would call us every 3-4 days to see how Reilly was feeling and to see if we had any questions. At the end, when we were going on vacation in Michigan w/ Reilly one last time, Dr Olson even offered to drive up and put him to sleep if his health started to deteriorate (it didn't). In the end, Reilly lost his battle w/ cancer (almost 4 weeks from the 1st diagnosis) and Dr. Olson and the staff were very supportive and caring in his final moments. They even sent sympathy cards later on and sent a beautiful paw print ornament for us to remember Reilly by. I would STRONGLY recommend Portage Park Animal Hospital (Dr Olson in particular) to any pet lover!

The vets and technicians at the Cat Hospital of Chicago are all wonderful. If my cat needs treatment beyond the annual exam, the vets give options on care whenever possible. I will never go anywhere else.

More
I used to take my dog to this vet form when he was a puppy until he was about 3 years old when I decided to change. The reason I decided to change verterinarians was because they insist on putting a muzzle on all dogs that come into their practice. My dog is such a big baby (he is a labrador) that this scares the hell out of him. All he wanted to do was be friendly, sniff and wag his tail the staff. I asked them to please not put a muzzle on him as he would not bit anyone as he is very friendly and the muzzle scares him and makes him sad. They did not understand my doggies fears and still insisted he wear it. So I promptly left with him and found a much better vet practice that doesnt make dogs wear muzzles. My dog loves going to the vet now and making some new people and doggie friends.

More
I have been going to McKillip Animal Hospital for almost 25 years. I have not lived in the neighborhood for years and still will drive 30-45 minutes to go back there. I have looked into veterinary clinics closer to me but have not found any that are even close in quality to McKillip. The vets are all fantastic, the vet techs are equally wonderful, they have all the state-of-the-art equipment, and they offer free parking in the Century parking lot. They do not accept appointments (except for surgeries, grooming or other specific treatments) - operating solely on a walk-in basis. I love that aspect. I never have to worry about running late. In all the years I have been going there, there have only been a few times that I have had to wait for more than 5 or 10 minutes. In all of these cases, it was because I had requested a specific vet and they were already in with a client when I got there. They are not the cheapest vet clinic you will find, but I think they are one of the best!
I would highly recommend them!
