Caribou Coffee is better than Starbucks and they have a lot more variety. The things about here is that they have a lot of coffee type products but at the same time they have items for a person who doesn't drink coffee such as smoothies. Their prices are kind of high, but their drinks are amazing so it is worth it. Plus they always have buy one get free coupons coming in the mail.

This is my favorite Borders, because it is always so quite. The ones that are closer to downtown have a tendency to have a lot of tourists swimming around in them looking for books on Chicago and it is hard to sit down and relax. This place has a great staff.

it was like a week ago, a was in a neighborhood, horrible day for me, i failed an interview and it was so freaking cold outside, i just wanted a cup of coffee to warm up..
i ordered regular with a shot of espresso in it and girl (with a shortcut hair) was so nice and pleasant and this little talk with her about the weather really made up my evening, so i just wanna say Thank You hun, (sorry i don't know your name)..
ow yea one more thing -> coffee is totally better than starbucks!

Starbucks is a great start to any busy morning. I know it gives me a big kick start every morning. This location is my favorite of the many that line this street. This location is the least busiest and has the friendliest service. I am a fan of the Cafe Mocha here and of all of their really yummy baked treats. One of my favorite things here is their java pecan tart. Its really sweet and filled with huge, crunchy pecans that totally accent a nice cup of Cafe Mocha in a great way.

This is another strange open mic coffee shop up north. Head here on the weekends and get yourself a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee or maybe just a scoop of ice cream. This place has a much better selection for food and drinks then the other independent local shops around it.

More
As far as Target stores go, this one is far more organized and less crowded than others. I always avoid the Elston and Howard locations because they are packed and lines are long. That is never the case at the Addison store. If there is anybody in line it's only one or two people before you. I also appreciate that this location has additional parking and is a two-level building. They have one of those neat card escalators and large elevators to bring merchandise with you.
The only tricky thing is figuring out what's on what floor. All the merchandise is kept in order and the check-out people are really efficient and friendly.
PROS: Organized, less crowded and clean
CONS: Two-level might be tricky for some

I am going for customer of the month. This place has a customer of the month plaque that I have been trying to get on, but I guess that I don't go enough. If you are local than this is a good place to get that breakfast snack on the go, because it is cheap.

I go here for their shakes and the open mic. The sounds in this place aren't fantastic, but they aren't bad either. They make great Sundays and coffee. This is a fun place to go at night and hear a band perform. Try the chicken wings and sip on a coke.

I'm writing this post from Dollop right now - I started coming here when I moved to the neighborhood last winter because it was really the only place to hang out and drink coffee. Good selection of teas (I'm a tea drinker myself) , great atmosphere - the front space is lively and social, and there's a "library" in the back (a converted apartment adjoining the space) where you can hang out to work or study. They're totally cool with people spending all day - there are quite a few folks who've made this place their office.
